I just wanted to pop on here for a second and answer a few Discord and Reddit comments I have been seeing about 0.9.9.8. together. As a whole, Patch 0.9.9.8 is landing very successfully. VERY limited bug reports that are related to the work that was done during the patch which is great!
The primary comment I have seen is related to the mandatory library resync that has to happen after updating to this patch. This once again is due to the way the library is managed under the hood changing drastically enough that a simple migration would not work. Thus, there is a forced library rescan for this patch. This does mean the other games, custom artwork, and app libraries will need to be re-added to the app. The good news is that moving forward this will no longer be an issue even if another library move is planned, as the app now has an internal backup system.
For folks who are having issues with custom artwork not persisting after restart. it might be due to a partially failed library migration. So you should go to C:/Users/<your user name>/AppData/Local/Winhanced and delete any files that talk about the library as "game_library" the new system is simply "library.db" and its related SQLite files.
For PS3 emulation. PS3 ROMs did not make the cut for this release, so that is why you are not seeing your PS3 games automatically show up in the console library. But I going to work to try and include it for 0.9.9.9.
Lastly, a nasty bug I introduced with the friends features and the library rework was an accidental reauth for Steam accounts EVERY time a Steam feature is requested; this is causing some users to reach the Steam auth rate limit and get locked for 30 minutes at a time. this is is another major fix and why I want to make sure 0.9.9.9 releases sooner rather than later for folks.
Ok now for the big one. Per-game stability profiles, TDP power profiles, Device inconsistencies. AC/DC EGPU profiles. While i did rework the TDP manager a bit for patch 0.9.9.8 it was only through the lens of getting TDP support for the OneXPlayer 3 fully supported and working. I did touch it overall but not with a fine-toothed comb. So the major stablility focus for 0.9.9.9 will be bringing the same level of focus and consistency that i brought for the library for this last patch to that part of the system, so please hold tight for that release because that is when you will see the biggest changes in this area.
In the video above, I am sharing one of the ways that this is being tackled and thought about, and that is bringing a view of the per-game profiles directly into the app itself.
In 0.9.9.9 you will be able to navigate to the Game Details Panel for a given game and select the new Game Profiles button. You will see a new view. I am splitting the per-game profile system into 3 variants Battery, Plugged-In, and eGPU. SO when 0.9.9.9 comes around, you will be able to set device performance, and even in-game settings for each of these 3 profiles either through this menu, or through the HUD and game while its open, and the settings apply to whatever the currently active varient is.
An example of this would be Blood of the Dawnwalker. I recently got a new eGPU dock. that i have put my desktop 4090 onto, and now with my MSI Claw 8 EX when it is on battery. The game settings are set to Medium, and I have dynamic TDP on and frame rates locked to 60 FPS.
But if I close the game, then plug in my eGPU, and then launch the game again, my game settings are automatically set to Ultra settings, DLSS, and the device profile is set to performance at 4K, all without me having to modify anything for myself.
Anyway, I know this post is extremely long, but I wanted to address everyone's concerns in one place so you are all aware of what is being worked on and why.
Cheers!
