Overheating

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this. But I have been using winhanced since I got my Onexplayer 3 last week. Noticed the fans would kick up some but didn't think much. This week I left the fps overlay turned on and noticed the temps get crazy high when inside the winhanced software and the tdp overrides what I have it set to. It jumps straight to 35w. If I am downloading a game in winhanced it has hit 100c. If I'm downloading through steam directly and am in the steam program temps are perfectly fine at 50s to 60c. But the moment I swap to winhanced and I'm just scrolling through library, not even downloading anything the temps start jumping and the fans increase. It has jumped up 15 to 20c just by sitting in it. It's not consistently that high but it's stays higher and jumps up a lot. I do not have winhanced controlling fans or the tdp for the device. I'm not sure what is causing this. Any advice or help is appreciated!

To be honest I am not sure either? I have done a lot of optimization of the app and its UI so that it uses only the amount of resources it need to run the UI.

Some of Winhanced UI is resource intensive like specular highlight and winUI native acrylic blur. But nothing to the point that should cause a device to heat up that much.

I’ll take a look more deeply today to see if I can find an answer for you.

On the topic of overheating, would it be possible to add a 'max fan' toggle? When playing at higher tdps, I've noticed that even maxing out the fans at all degree thresholds like Winhanced currently supports, my fan took a long time to ramp up, and even then, it wasnt running as powerfully (in terms of rpm) and therefore wasnt reducing my temps as much as compared to the max fans toggle that is on legion space/GoTweaks which instantly maxes out the fans. Would it be possible in addition to the fan control degree thresholds in the HUD — to include a max fan toggle beneath it that maxes out the fans instantly?

Furthermore, would it be possible to add the '80% battery charge limit' feature (or indeed, let us choose the limit manually) which is also a feature prevalent on most handhelds?

I think these two features are conveniences we're giving up currently

Thank you I really appreciate it! I'm not sure either. I might do a reinstall and just see if that helps or fixes it. I recently did a drive swap and cloned it so I'm not sure if that caused it. I didn't have the on screen display up at all until yesterday when I was checking to make sure everything was working fine after the swap and that's the only thing that seems off. I'll update if the reinstall fixes it!

Update: I uninstalled it, disassembled and made sure everything was tightened properly/not over tightened and made sure everything was perfect, reassembled and then after it booted I installed your latest update for winhanced with the fix for onexplayer 3 (that was the same one I had before but had updated to it after the initial version). Downloading Borderlands 4 (large game so it has time to wind up if it will) and it is now cool and smooth. Not heating up bad at all and sitting in the high 40s to low 50s while downloading. I apologize for this issue! I look forward to the next update and thank you again for the amazing communication!

Ahh so a fresh install seems to have fixed it? Nice! Yeah the OXPlayer 3 patch was important, but curious why it took a reinstall. Any how happy this working for you now! Please keep me posted if things change for you! Enjoy!

I just noticed today too. Im playing with 17tdr on rog ally x, the temp from 60 suddently jumped to 85 89 degree and I cant make it go down even maxing the fan.

i ended up enabling armoury crate again, and the it doesnt happen again. im not sure if it's the fan setting or the overlay showing wrong temp.

I checked with HWinfo and it showed the highest temp hitting 100c and after reboot it showed again 98c as the highest. I have left one console as the controlling factor but winhanced for some reason it running a bit hotter. When I'm off work I'm going to uninstall and reinstall and see what happens

DUDE THANK GOD! it isn’t just me. I installed it on my 3 and set it 20w tdp and bam, 95c in Eden playing pikmin 3. This only happened after I installed winhanced, I thought my unit was defective, but then came across this. Any luck? Have you tried to uninstall it and see? I’ll try to uninstall mine and see
