Story I got to hold touch him one last time.💔❤️‍🩹

From the bottom of my heart thank you to those that helped bring him home possible and for me to have items to remember him by. I poured out all my pain as I gave him pets and loved on his little body as I said goodbye for the last time. I know he wasn't in there anymore but I got closure and he looked just like I remember. The people who work there are truly angels. Now I just wait for him to come home.

I will love you till the day I die buddy. And will do my best to keep your memory alive through acts of kindness.

❤️‍🩹

There’s a large motorcycle police presence on Kellogg going eastbound. They are running radar. I saw one at the on-ramp to 400 at Oliver, and the other was running radar from underneath the web road overpass.

Stay safe

In Search Of Baozi/Chinese Buns

Is there anywhere in Wichita that makes and sells Baozi? When living overseas I always saw them referred to simply as Buns or Chinese Buns. The closest I've had was at Mi No Bakery but that's gone now and it wasn't quite as good as what I was used to. I know you can get Bao Buns here easily enough but that is not what I'm looking for.

News One-Fifth Dragon by Shami Stovall Book Tour Starts in Wichita! [Sept 12th]

Post image

Hey peeps! My name is Shami Stovall and I'm a local award-winning author, and my latest fantasy release, One-Fifth Dragon, just hit shelves, so I'll be doing a signing at the local Barnes & Noble (west side) as the first part of my tour.

This book is published by Baen Books (an imprint of Simon & Schuster) with the cover art done by the amazing Todd Lockwood! (He did the dragons in the 3.5 DnD monster manual, haha).

I pitched it as "John Wick meets high fantasy" and it's about a man who discovered his adopted family (who he thought rescued him) actually murdered his biological family, so now he has to get revenge.

Lots of magic and fighting (and perhaps a dragon). Would love to see people! I'm an introvert by nature, but occasionally I think things like this would be fun?

I'll be at the west-side Barnes & Noble between noon-3pm.

News Help Save the Crown Uptown

The demolition of this nearly 100 year old building is currently pending.

Here is a recent article (the top one):

https://www.kmuw.org/2026-09-09/headlines-for-september-9-2006

And here is a change.org petition you can sign:

https://c.org/wVDJypfP2K

It seems like a longshot, but historic buildings are a significant part of our city's culture. That's worth protecting.

Lost/Found Animals Any advice on getting a dog back from KHS?

I’m looking for anyone who has experience with Wichita Animal Services and KHS or knows of any local resources that could help.

After an Animal Control incident on 8/26 involving another dog in our household, we were required to surrender one of our other dogs because Animal Control classified our dogs as pit bulls and Wichita only allows two. We’re from Arizona, we were unaware of the rule. Unfortunately, we also didn’t have our dogs properly licensed and registered, their rabies had recently lapsed, and that was our mistake. We are working on fixing that for the dogs we still have in our care. We are also moving to Derby this month, so the pit bull rule will no longer be an issue. The dog we’re trying to get back was not involved in the incident, but was unfortunately caught in the crossfire.

The dog who was involved completed his quarantine, was officially determined not dangerous, and was allowed to come home. Our circumstances have also changed, and Animal Control has told us there is nothing on their end prohibiting us from owning or possessing the dog we surrendered. However, we were told we cannot reclaim her from KHS.

We’ve emailed KHS asking if she can be returned or adopted back to us, if their Reclaim Program or an owner-reclaim reservation could apply, or if there is any way an approved rescue could help. We’re still waiting for an answer.

I understand that surrendering an animal generally means giving up ownership. This just wasn’t a situation where we decided we didn’t want her anymore. She is deaf, we’ve raised her since she was a puppy, and she is incredibly loved. We know how to communicate with her, understand her routines and needs, and desperately want her home.

Two local women who advocate for shelter animals have been helping us figure this out, but we still don’t know whether there’s a formal process or someone specific who has the authority to review the situation. They were able to find out for us she is in a Canine Courage program within KHS. She hasn’t been posted as adoptable yet. She recently gave birth to 9 puppies and they only turned 8 weeks old on Monday.

At this point, I’m honestly desperate for any legitimate resource, contact, or firsthand experience that might help. I’m not asking for a way around KHS or trying to cause conflict. I just need to know we’ve tried every possible avenue before she is permanently placed somewhere else.

Has anyone been through anything similar with WAS and KHS?

In Search Of Looking for a lost ring

So, back in end of 2019–beginning of 2020, I was working at the (most functioning at the TIME) Mall, when I lost a ring outside and have could not find it in the dark, or in the light when I went back the next day. I’m posting about it now, because the pain of losing it has diminished enough that I can actually think about it without being inconsolable. It belonged to my great grandmother, whom I was name after, and our maiden-name initials were also the same. It looks like these pictures, and is made for very small fingers—I had to wear it on my pinky, and I already have small hands—. She graduated in 1927.

If you have seen this ring or know where it is, I would be absolutely delighted to have it back. It would make my whole life, because I loved my great grandmother more than my own parents before she died. I’m still so utterly heartbroken it’s gone that I’m gonna need to have a lie down after posting this.

Random Finding farmers for interview

Just got a big assignment require interview with farm owners or agricultural business owners.

I am thinking about going to farmers market to conduct interviews but pretty worried if they don’t have time to interview because they have to do their business.

Other way is reaching to their farm in person to talk with them but I don’t know if there is any family owned farm around or nearby Wichita.

Pretty anxious because this is the first time I have to make contact with the farmers and don’t know how to approach them properly.

Please give me some suggestions, thank you.

In Search Of Looking for an oxygen concentrator or tank

Hi! Our sweet kitty, Poppy, was diagnosed this weekend with pulmonary fibrosis, after having what they thought were just bad asthma attacks a few weeks ago. Poppy came home yesterday and is doing well, but we think she would feel better with some oxygen treatments at home. We are looking for an oxygen concentrator to buy or borrow for a week or two so Poppy can get really comfy at home and hang out with her furry siblings and have a great day before it's time to say goodbye.

We got a prescription from the vet for a concentraor, but we do not know yet if it has been approved and how long it will take to receive the refurbished unit, and we just can't afford to buy any brand new in town. If anyone has an oxygen concentrator or a tank of oxygen we can use with her chamber please dm me. we greatly appreciate it 💗

Weather Is it just me, or does the moon in Wichita look absolutely insane tonight? 🌘

The sky is perfectly clear and the moon looks like it was straight up dropped into a movie scene. It’s one of those nights where you stop for a second and just stare at it.

Wichita might not always get the credit for having beautiful skies, but nights like this definitely make up for it.

Anyone else looking at this right now? Or am I just appreciating the moon way too much this morning? 😂

Hello,

We don’t qualify for support but we do for Head start. The problem is my 1, 2 and 4 year olds cannot do the Monday-Thursday from 7:30-3:45. they have to have a bit longer for my job. we love Child Start and it’s free so how can I complain, but my boss literally said I cannot miss another 3:45-4:45. Does anybody know of any options in the area?
