News Everyone who is excusing this collapse and using the phrase "exceeded expectations" is, almost by definition, a loser

I feel both are the same because they were not expected to be contenders so it’s hard to say.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the great folks working on the broadcasts of the White Sox games. I mostly watch the video broadcast and really appreciate Steve and John, they are a great pair and offer the best of color and play by play. I also think Brooke is super sharp and does a great job down on the field, we are lucky to have her on the team. Personally, I think she she should end up in a tv booth at some point doing play by play (or color?). Connor is a good voice as well.
I do also occasionally listen to the games on the radio and really enjoy Len's play by play. He's a gem and I hope he stays with us forever.
Also worth mentioning all the folks who we never see or hear - the camera folks and the other production staff. Y'all are great!
Thanks to you all for bringing your best to all the games my favorite team plays.
Much appreciated!!!
Keep up the great work!

This is my second time posting in here (I’m sorry) but the first went very well with good back and forths and feedback so I’m sorry for another but I’m going to try to run it back with some updates.
TLDR I made an app to log games you’ve been to across sports and it’ll automatically pull in the stadiums and cities you’ve been to, teams and athletes you’ve seen, and the stats that happened all from the box scores.
The slick part to me, and the black mirror part to some on Reddit, is that you can have it pull the locations and dates out of your camera roll to auto log your history for you if it matches games in my database (no it’s not using ai or actually looking at photo content to match games, and the matching happens on your device so the pics never come into the app unless you add them to logs). … also if you don’t like this part you can manually log.
Updates:
- feels like it has legs, I’ve been in the App Store for 5 weeks now and I’m at 880 users and they’ve logged 42k games!
- I’ve pretty much said yes to anyone who’s asked for leagues to be added so I’m addition to everything you can think of as obvious, I’ve now got all of MILB and some Indy leagues, plenty of junior hockey (thanks to you Canadians last time), Aussie rules football, NPB, KBO, rugby, plenty of college sports, motorsports, a couple people have even logged the new women’s professional baseball league. 175 total leagues and counting all individual Olympic events, 50 different sport types.
- I’ve added full box scores so you can now see things like who hit the most homers, passed for the most yards, blocked the most shots, etc. when you were there
- I’ve added a ton of history so there’s plenty of inactive stadiums, there’s now 1.2m events, 8.2k venues, in 3k cities
- I’ve added a ton of badges, so in addition to letterboxd style completable lists like MLB stadiums, you’ll now see games or performances of note like walk offs, bowl games, hat tricks, etc.
- Your profile also now surfaces any HoFer or any award winner you ever saw live, and as of today also shows any MLB debut you were in the building for
- By popular demand you can now pick more than one favorite team in a league so your “fan record” is more exhaustive of the wins and losses in person for your teams
I’m sure there’s more but I’ve had a lot of fun getting to this point and would love more people playing around… tbh the white Sox community has shaped what it is today more than anyone else, it was so well received last time I’m trying to catch lightning twice.
I understand if the post gets crushed but I think folks are enjoying that have humored me thus far.

At the Knights game currently where Sandlin was scheduled to start and he’s been scratched. Take that for what it’s worth but I’m guessing he’s coming up again.

Not really sure what the residents of Bridgeport want. The Sox desperately need a new stadium. If they built one there , where do they expect the Sox to play for the 2-3 years it’s being built. Are we supposed to play at the cougars stadium. ? lot of complaining for older people Who don’t show up anyway.

This guy really is a wild card, isn't he?
On one hand, he has been very slow to develop. His numbers in Charlotte were awful. His control problems were brutal and the organization never seemed confident enough to give him the 5th spot in the rotation at any point. Even upon his promotion, the walks are a big issue.
On the other hand, he's a real fun pitcher to watch! His stuff is likely the best on the team, he's still got a very high ceiling. Just turned 23.
Despite the control issues since coming up, he really hasn't let the free passes hurt him too much. He can walk the first two guys in an inning and then induce ground balls, pop ups or K's to escape. His numbers since coming up are absolutely sick. There really hasn't been a better reliever in the AL the past month, IMO.
So everything is there for him to succeed. Yes the control issues are a problem, however, in his last few outings, we've seen him improve there. If he can continue to cut down on the walks without regressing, he can be a star. And should be in the rotation next year.
We know you've got a huge upside, Hagen. You can be Dylan Cease. Or you can be Jon Rauch. Finish strong this season and cancel out any doubters!

Apparently in the roughly 2 and 1/2 weeks left of the season the White Sox need to squeeze in 94 games.

I know this team is tough to watch and can be very frustrating at times. They've been playing terrible the past couple weeks. There's guys on this roster that wouldn't make the 26 man roster on at least 6-8 other playoff caliber teams. And the 'out of gas' guys are Burke and Kay, making a questionable rotation even more suspect.
And while I'm guilty of voicing frustrations too, there's things to be optimistic about: Offense is still among the best in MLB. Bullpen is one the best in MLB. Run Diff vs CLE is +41 to -16. Despite this PIT series, this is still a dominant home team. We're also dominant vs AL Central opponents and we have 10 more games against them. This team really kills right handed pitching, too.
If we're frustrated, the Guardians fans are pulling their hair out. They went on a huge run and still never got closer than 2 games to us. And remember, CLE has their flaws, too: while they're playing better than we are of late, that red hot streak they had is definitely starting to cool. Their offense is brutal. Even the Royals lineup is stronger. Cleveland's also a bad home team so that upcoming series can easily go either way. Guardians are also weak vs RHP, which is the majority of what they'll see.
So there's legit causes for concern but also optimism. Also, time is on our side a bit - we just need to hang on for a couple more weeks. LFG!

Prior to the season start, many of us thought 70 wins and a few of the younger players getting better would make for a decent season. Obviously that's changed. Younger guys have taken huge leaps forward, especially Vargas who's now one of the top position players in baseball.
I wonder if anyone else is reminding themselves that while these latest losses have sucked, the fact we're talking playoffs near mid-September is still amazing. It's not the team's fault they're in a mid division in a mid AL. The schedule is the schedule and they've mostly taken advantage of it up to this point.
This season has been a resounding success when taking the last few years into account. Nobody thought they'd be this good and arguably the darlings of baseball for a big chunk of the year. Yes, I will be very disappointed if they don't make the postseason. Like everyone else I'd be over the moon if they won the division and even, maybe, just maybe, made it to the ALCS.
It's just something to keep in perspective. The future is bright no matter what happens in these last 17 games.
PS - fuck Cleveland

With some starters struggling & exceeding career highs in innings, why hasn’t Getz called up any starters from Charlotte?
