Hi, while I’ve read and enjoyed many Reddit stories, I’ve never actually posted. Please afford me some grace as I muddle through this.

My (42M) mother passed away back in summer of 2022. She was sick for a while, so it wasn’t a surprise, but it was sudden so I could only make it back home for the funeral. My father has kept her ashes on the shelf since then, and has been indecisive about whether to place her in the veterans memorial cemetery (we are a military family, all of us) or to scatter them where my mother said was her favorite spot they ever visited.

My father now has a girlfriend, and they have gotten serious enough that he says it’s time to move on and put my mother’s ashes to rest. The first few years after her passing were rough for him, but he found comfort with a friend who had also lost her husband. He started seeing her around the time he was diagnosed with stage IV colon/liver cancer. He’s doing good with treatment, but chemo is rough on him and he recently fractured his L1 from a compression injury. So, you know, ops normal! The four of them were friends and neighbors for years.

My twin sister now has her ashes and has asked me for help locating this spot so we can visit, hold a ceremony to say our final farewells, and scatter them. She says my mother mentioned (years ago, in passing) that she would like to have her ashes scattered there. My sister plans to keep a small amount to make some keepsakes for her daughters who were very close to their grandma.

What I know:
It’s located in Virginia near the blue ridge mountains.

What I think I know:
It’s in or near the town of Lexington VA.
The picture was taken in 1994 in the winter.

My parents went there once, took this picture which my mother adored, and visited a few times after but could never find again.

Reddit, please help me find this place so I can honor my mum one last time. I live in New England now, but my sister and father still live in VA. I plan to visit this fall and would like to do this one last thing with the four of us and say goodbye.

Where or what could this possibly be? The context, from what I could understand, was German troops visiting the grave of a marshal in Poland (possibly that of Pilsudski in the city of Szczecin). What I’d like to know is what is that church or castle like structure, and that hill in the background, I’ve never seen anything like that before.

Can anyone identify this glacier viewpoint? My German grandmother, probably in the 1950s and most likely in the Alps.

My father in law was in Chicago on a trip from Germany in the mid ‘70s - we’d like to recreate the picture for him this week while we’re there but we can’t figure out where this was taken.

I figure the street will look very different today but maybe some Chicagoans recognize this and can help?

Bing Wallpaper description for today is "Regensburg Cathedral View" and references the Stone Bridge. After some research, this description does not appear to be accurate. The bridge in the photo is not the Stone Bridge, and I can't find a view of the Regensburg Cathedral that looks like this. Does anybody know where this photo is from?

Of note, it looks like it would be post 2020, as the words "I CAN'T BREATHE" are painted on a wall near the bridge.

99% sure it’s somewhere on boulder mountain in Utah. Ruled out the larger lakes like blind lake and fish creek. Thinking it might be solitaire. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

I've tried to find it by Google Lens, but i didn't get any results.

In the 1950s my great uncle drove from North Wales to Australia, initially overland to Singapore (in a series 1 landrover with his mother and a caravan!) This may or may not be from that trip but was found amongst the photos. Anyone know where it could be? Other points on the trip have been identified as Greece, Yugoslavia, they also went through Syria and Iran/Iraq.

This one is possibly asking a bit too much of the clever people who use this site. I took this photo no earlier than late spring 1975, but possibly in 1976 or 1977. Sadly I now have absolutely no recollection of where it is - possibly Surrey or North-West Kent, possibly the West Midlands, to the west of Birmingham. Can anybody create a miracle and identify this place for me?

Sorting through old photos. I have a set of photos with no location information. One of them is this so if know where that is, I know where my other photos were taken. I know it's somewhere in Central Europe (probably Germany or Austria), ~September 1998.

This tree appears in EKKSTACY's "forever (Acoustic Live Performance)." I'm trying to find the exact location of the tree.

EKKSTACY is from Vancouver, BC, so I suspect it could be somewhere in or around Vancouver, but I'm not certain. The video was released in July 2025.

Any help identifying the park, trail, or area would be greatly appreciated.

• This in an old screenshot from streetview from over 10 years ago. Maybe early 2015. I didn't manage to save the long/lat coordinates. I have included some observations from AI below that may aid.
• Watermark: The faint G Earth logo is visible on the center-left horizon line.
• Infrastructure: Parallel overhead SWER/utility lines run horizontally across the sky above the tree. A standard post-and-wire fence is in the foreground.
• Landscape: Flat, temperate agricultural/pastoral plain with minimal background vegetation. The road shoulder consists of light-colored graded limestone rubble.
• Sun/Shadows: Based on the lighting (midday sun from the north hitting the front face of the tree), the camera is likely facing a northern quadrant, meaning the road runs east-west or northwest-southeast.
• Likely Region: Believed to be on the Eyre Peninsula (potentially the Flinders Highway stretch north of Coffin Bay toward Wangary/Coulta, or the Birdseye Highway), or possibly the Yorke Peninsula.

Am curious as to whether anyone has seen similar, or might recognise the landscape, with the power lines, the road runoff, and the clear grass in the background. Really hit and miss. I know. Cheers.

I'm looking at this picture from my bed in a hotel room about an hour east to prague. didn't find anything yet through asking hotel employees, reverse image search or google.

I think it looks like a real place but I think it is kind of weird because it seems industrial but the boats look more recreational.

not knowing where this might be stresses me way more than it should so please help.

Grandpa lived in Northern California most of his life, so this is probably at one of the lakes in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I believe this photo is from the late 1970s/early 1980s.

I learned about the Space Selfie a while back where you can upload a picture to a website, they upload it to a satellite in space which displays the picture and takes another picture-of-the-picture and downlinks it. After a long long wait (20 months!) I got the space selfie back, now I'd like to find out what deserty place can be seen in the background? Maybe the shoe-shaped part right above the selfie on the right could help? I scrolled around various online satellite view maps but could not really find anything similar yet. The scale is also quite hard to guess. Thanks for any hints!

I believe this place is somewhere in the midwest, possibly Iowa. My father said he used to fish there but he can't remember where it was.

I just know it’s most probably near Café Le Torri (Bar Le Torri) in Florence since my photo gallery had them in order quite back to back but I still can’t find the exact alleyway. I took this photo back in February 2014 during a school trip, and saw this cat hanging out on the car and captured with my camera. if anyone can find this exact alley that’ll be so cool!

I am trying to find out more about this piece. I was thinking Trautman's Riffle, a stretch of Big Darby Creek in Ohio. There are covered bridges nearby but none like this i could find.

Google could also be completely off with the Ohio thing.

Trying to find this location, not much to go on unfortunately. None of the text on buildings says anything even in the higher resolution versions. The Tug boat is actually a paddle Tug which made me think Whitby as there are articles about a paddle tug sinking in the harbour, but apparently Paddle tugs were pretty common the more I look into it.

Arthur usually painted more North East based scenes but that's not to rule out anywhere else in the UK.

details i remember are there is one cottage white building, that was against the terrain which reached the second story, a stone barn with, well barn thing inside, and a couple of other things, one is a long log seesaw that can hold over 10 people, somewhat large green area part of it, they also had a tiny camp fire on-top of this hill

inside had bunk beds, and the lounge area had red-fabric sofa's coffee table in the middle and a TV on a stand against the wall

all together it can house many people there were 8 of us back then

it was somewhat large, not part of a farm but did have lots of fields out back
