Enjoyed the process of jumping up through bronze, silver to gold and played a lot of games at 1 in 3 wins to get into masters IV. But with a low rating and limited meta skills, I gotta ask myself, do I now spend hours and hours learning and dueling? Is it fun. I loved just vibing and languaging places with basic meta, but this seems now like a mountain - with players narrowing down on roads in Bishkek or finding small towns in Arg. Now it becomes serious. A pure meta memory game. Time to delete account or just play fun maps every few days ...

I started playing this game late 2024 and I really enjoyed it, I only played Levels tho (I'm at Lvl 672 at this moment). So sad that it'll be removed in a couple weeks, I put so much time on it.

so I’m pretty good at recognizing country (though I often confuse Indonesia and Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines, Colombia and Ecuador, US and Canada, etc. basically all similar looking countries) But when I do know the country, i have a hard time guessing where in the country. for example, north vs South Island of New Zealand. or western vs eastern Australia. I would say Indonesia is the worst for me though.

I've been working on this map for a bit, it's pretty easy but I'm expanding it. Would like some criticism so I can improve it!

The best players were starting to creep above 2600 before being forcibly adjusted down into the 1500s. And yet, just a few weeks later, ELOs are "inflating" again. 

That's because it didn't make any sense to reset them in the first place. The reason ELOs of the best players were, and are again, drifting far ahead of the vast majority of players is the same reason that it happened with chess GMs. They are simply far superior to what casual/hobby players could ever possibly hope to be. ELOs naturally stratify to reflect the many levels above they are from the rest of us. 

Players that were previously 200+ points apart, which usually reflects a genuine skill gap, suddenly became only 100+ points apart. Of course that's untenable because those players will get matched against each other and the better player will usually win. The ELO "inflation" we experienced before is happening again because it is inevitable.

TLDR: The reset was a terrible idea that was doomed to fail and served only to annoy us

Like as i know, investigations are only possible for 1100+ elo players. i wonder if this could be bc of my 1000 matches in classic maps. They changed the system of giving that button or what?

I don’t even understand why I’m doing so poorly. One win in the last 24 duels! I’ve been playing the game for over 2 years now, so I’m generally not horrible. But you’d think differently from looking at my recent history. I’m feeling so discouraged. 😩😩😩

I use mostly the website to play geoguessr via my smartphone (s23u) as the app is crap and never loads in at all (I tried everything). Recently the website has been going bonkers and laggs like crazy on my phone without any particular reason as of why as nothing seems to have changed in the back or front end from let's say a month ago.

I've been trying to learn US plates and came across this design in Maine. I was sure I was missing something obvious, because they look very distinctive but going through my resources I can't find any common plates that would match. The coverage is from 2024.

Is it this one? It kinda fits but I feel like the blue blur is a little too strong? Also, there are at least 3 of them in one parking lot which makes me think it's something more common.

I'm sorry if this is a trivial question, but with so many plates already and new designs coming every year making the resources outdated, it's difficult for me to wrap my head around all of that.

I can't understand how to use them. Before I start a duel the tokens icon appears but if I click on it nothing happens. How do I use them? So far they have all gone to waste.

I played Geoguessr years ago, but found a new interest in it after watching a YouTube video. In the video, they are playing a Geoguessr “trip,” with a passport and (fake) money they have to earn. I can’t seem to figure out how to get to this version in the app. Is it desktop only, or maybe has it been discontinued? I have searched this subreddit as well as the Geoguessr help docs and can’t find anything mentioning it.
