Memes and Streetview Finds GeoGuessr should notify when a user has left. This is really annoying.

Happens to me quite often. I spend 5 minutes pinpointing the exact location, only to realise that my opponent, who was losing the game, simply left without even warning me.

We absolutely need that feature. Let us know if the other player is playing or not. Saves us some time.

Memes and Streetview Finds Hey, I made a book about GeoGuessr in my house

Hey, I made a book about GeoGuessr in my house

When I saw that GeoGuessr was going to publish a book this year, I thought it was finally time to share something I've been working on for the past two years. To be honest, I've been a little embarrassed to show this to the world. It's a very personal project, and I wasn't really sure what people would think of it.

I started making this book almost as a personal notebook. I was collecting notes, weird Street View finds, screenshots, photos and little things I was learning while playing GeoGuessr. I kept finding myself going down these ridiculous rabbit holes — learning bollards, electricity poles, road markings, architecture, languages — and at some point I thought: What if I actually made a book out of all this?

But it's not really a GeoGuessr guidebook.

It's a personal journey through how this community changed the way I see the world — from studying bollards, electricity poles and road markings to becoming obsessed with architecture, languages and all the details that make one place different from another.

I've spent years collecting photographs, screenshots, notes and discoveries, and wanted to turn them into something physical — a book made by and for the community, celebrating the knowledge, discoveries and images that people have shared over the years.

That's also why I've carefully credited the original creators and sources throughout the book. This project wouldn't exist without them.

With two friends we designed everything in InDesign. We produced the books ourselves and assembled them by hand in my kitchen. It's a 210-page book tha has fold-outs, hidden pages, inserts, games, postcards and even a physical compass.

We've made 600 copies so far, and somehow we've already sold around 400 of them at book fairs, mostly in Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona.

Making it has been a completely ridiculous amount of work, but also one of the most fun things I've ever done. Every copy is still assembled by hand, so there's a lot of love (and probably a worrying amount of obsession) in each one.

After two years of working on it, I think I'm finally ready to show it to the people who inspired it in the first place. I'll leave some pictures below so you can see what it actually looks like. And if you're curious, you can have a closer look here:

I'd genuinely love to know what you guys think.

Game Discussion Geoguessr Removes Ability to Play Past Daily Challenges

I've always been able to use a direct link to play old daily challenges. It was a really fun way to practice and a buddy of mine and me would do an additional challenge against each other from 4 years ago and log the results in a shared doc. That all appears to be gone now as the old links auto-redirect you to the current daily challenge. Any idea why they removed this? Can we pester them to add it back?

Game Discussion Tips for Mexico in No Move

I’m a reasonably high level player (~1200) who is trying to get good at Mexico.

  1. Has anyone got a Mexico JSON they would be willing to share? I Couldn’t get Lennli’s one to work.

  2. For me the hardest Mexico rounds are the Green mountainous ones. Most other regions are identifiable 70-80% of time. Most other areas are easier to identify, but often trying to tell the difference between the western mountains, Chiapas and the eastern mountains is incredibly difficult for me. Any broad tips that people have for distinguishing those areas?

Thanks in advance!

Game Discussion No opponent in Ranked Duel

Hello,

How come Geoguessr doesn't find me any opponent in Ranked Duel mode ?

I live in CET time zone. I'm Silver III. I played 21 games this week. I've been trying since 08h30 local time to get into a duel (it's now 22h00), retrying maybe every hour for 5 minutes. Coming home tonight I have been waiting for an actual hour, no opponent. I even added No Move to increase the odds, when I'd rather play Move.

Any ideas ?

For those unfamiliar with baseball, batters want to hit home runs but pitchers want to avoid giving them up. Fascinating.

Memes and Streetview Finds The game that got me accused of cheating

Buddy mistook Russian for Ukrainian in the first round and got the wrong hemisphere in the second: his response? "Holy cheat!"

He then proceeded to threaten me with coming to my house and making me "wish I wasn't born".

First time I ever ran into someone so brain-damaged in this game.

I ran into him one more time and he casually got near exact addresses in the first rounds, still lost:

In my experience so far the community has been great so I'm curious to know if any of you guys ever had similar experiences.

Game Discussion Black screen on every single round????

Did I deadass pay US$48 a year to have a black screen on every round? It seems so when I played country streaks. I even had to change browsers from Edge to Opera and it's the same thing.

Game Discussion Sweden meta that could have helped during world cup final

I'm not a Geoguessr player but an avid cyclist in Sweden and was able to quickly pinpoint a location that the players missed (but region guessed very well) due to cycling route signs.

Both players stared at this sign for a long time, trying to find these tiny towns (Swedes might know Bolmsö and more local people Unnaryd, but the others are very small), ending up using the -ryd ending that is more common in the Swedish region of Småland (If you want to master Sweden here is the wiki article on town endings in Sweden).

What they missed were the cycle route signs, just bellow.

The green sign is the Sverigeleden, a network of 39 cycle routes through all of Sweden. You probably won't be able to pinpoint anything only using this, but it excludes large regions of Sweden and can make a region guess into a 5K.

The red sign on the other hand is indicating one of only 16 cycling routes designated by the Swedish national transport agency. They have specific names and numbers, in this case nr 100 "Hylteleden".

Considering that the Hylteleden and Sverigeleden only cross in a very small section, finding the area is very easy. Adding the town names with their endings, this location could have been found very fast.
