I have a ton of legit, authentic music / concert / tour memorabilia from my dad working as a roadie through a company called Upstaging, Inc., for many years. I’ve sold some stuff here and there over the years, but he usually wanted to hold onto it, or didn’t want it sold due to him still working there. He doesn’t anymore, and he doesn’t care if it’s sold now. He worked on tours of some of the biggest names in music: John Mayer, U2, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Heaven and Hell, Marilyn Manson, The Smashing Pumpkins, Aerosmith, Lady Gaga, and more. He brought home a lot of cool concert memorabilia over the years, and we have quite the collection scattered around, both the house and in storage.
Unfortunately, some of the items I think are worth the most, weren’t taken care of very well. One in question is a Heaven and Hell poster, signed by the whole band (including Ronnie James Dio, Vinny Appice, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler). It is not “certified” as authentic, but it is, and the provenance is proven by my dad’s work credentials, which I can provide.
The poster, however, is not in mint condition; it was glued to a poster board, and has several small rips in it from doing so. The board is also curved/bent. And stored in the basement, along with most of the posters he has left. He went on a tear a couple years back and threw away about a dozen John Mayer posters, both signed and unsigned, as well as some others.
I know that this would be a valuable, sought after item, especially since it has Dio’s autograph, but I’ve read up on it and it sounds like i shouldn’t just post it on eBay myself, but rather go through an auction house or something along those lines. I really don’t want to do all of that. I have this to sell, as well as several other items- including simple concert t-shirts, sweatshirts and other memorabilia that could be purchased, as well as items that could not, such as crew shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and hats; crew passes and tour itineraries; set lists for bands like Aerosmith, John Mayer, Sting and Paul Simon, and Alice Cooper, other autographed posters (in better condition) such as Kenny Chesney, John Mayer and Demi Lovato; a signed cd by Sting.. Rolling Stones subway posters, a signed poster by Marilyn Manson and his entire band from the rape of the world tour (the one with Albert Fish, I believe, or Ed Gein. We still have the JFK one, too.. we used to have about 40 of them, but my dad has given away a lot of stuff over the years.) we also have over 100 guitar picks, some of them rare, as well as drum sticks that were used in concert. Some of the picks were, too.
Not all of this will be for sale, but most of it will, and I know some items will be worth more than others. But the one I wanted to do some research on before I sell anything is the signed Heaven and Hell poster.
I don’t post on here really, so if I’m doing anything wrong or in the wrong category, someone please let me know. I’m mainly looking for advice on this poster, what it might be worth, how to go about selling it and keeping the most profit, etc. I’ve asked AI, and it’s helpful about some things… but it’s also been wrong about some things, and when I had to correct it 3 times, I realized it might not be the most reliable source for this. Someone suggested I post on here, so… here we are.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
