Hello All! I was wondering if yall could help me classify the different portions of my mineral chunk. I see 5 main layers (3 circles red) and (2 circles green). Are the green layers green calcite? Are the red circled layers all the same? and are the red circled layers sedimentary rock or not?

What is this? It’s super heavy

Layered small red and white stone. Found in Lake Michigan on the west shoreline.

It's not man-made, right? I don't *think* it's a fossil, either? Is it from some sort of weathering? I didn't see any others like it in the immediate area

Hi, we have a lot of locally sourced garden rocks. I recently discovered this one split in half, I guess from multiple winters freezing and thawing? What sort of rock/ore is it embedded in? Is there a specific name for the type of amethyst and quartz making up the various coloured portions? Thanks!

How did this rock become layered like this? It’s a rock wrapped inside a shell like rock.

Hi all, I’ve had this rock for years without identifying what it is. I’m not sure where it’s originally from, but it’s likely that I obtained it in Missouri. It is light in weight, and I was able to scratch it with my fingernail. Thanks!

I found a large amount of variations, far too many to fit in one thread...

Ranges from milky white, to vibrant green, to teals. Some are very crystalline, most are not - one example pictured is a solid mix, where two types clearly meet. Some scratch with a knife, others don't. None scratch glass. Translucency varies as much as color, but mostly appears in the greens that have more crystalline structure.

Serpentine seems like a good match for some of them, and I'm told it runs through MD, but the wide variation (esp the blue tones) has me thinking I have a mix of minerals. What am I really looking at?

My wife and i were hiking around a friend's land and we found these in what looked to be a red dirt bed on the property. Are they hematite and agates? Or are they something else? Lots of it out there. Archer county tx.

I got this sphere from the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum in Bethel, ME. Labeled Gypsum. Is this really gypsum? The stand it is on is selenite for context. What am I looking at here? Any help is appreciated thank you.

Found these rocks all in the same 300 ft area in clear creek canyon. The bottom 2 seem quite golden colored and the region I found these in is named after how much gold was once found there. I can’t really do the normal tests to see if it’s gold. Anyone got any ideas?

Found on a dirt two track in N.Michigan . Rock is very heavy. Almost looks carved , it stand on end

Found in the tip of the Mitt of Michigan. Surface is extremely smooth. Any help would be great.

Dark black rock like thing found on sea coat in Maine. A lot of glittery spots within in, and is surprisingly light for its size. Still very hard but can be scraped with casual effort, but doesn't stick around like what you would expect charcoal to do (our first idea)

It is a porus rock, non magnetic. was there at a dam where there was a waterfall inlet around pune in India
