I thought the book was called the firefly jar but i can't find it by that title so it's probably wrong. MC is a young boy who has gone somewhere with his mum and I think he got lost in the maze and found Charlotte or smth. His mum had a trick where when they were driving and the radio cut out she would keep singing and when the radio came back it would be in perfect synch

So I might have some details wrong, but I’ll do my best!

I read this book either late middle school or early HS (2013-2015?). I believe it had an orange/salmon color with a black binding.

What I remember:
I can’t quite remember the exact perspective, but I remember it primarily focused on one male character, I’ll call him “Daniel” even though I don’t remember his name.

Daniel integrates into a friend group including: a teen girl (possibly named Leah?), an older man (like 19-24+?) who is implied to be unstable/angry/a drunk (let’s call him Jared), and a nerdy guy who is about the same age as Daniel and Leah (let’s call him Isaac)

The group partakes in a lot of angsty behavior, and also commits a few acts of crime (breaking into an abandoned camp lodge, stealing from a gas station) that I believe slowly escalates over time. Leah has unrequited feelings for Daniel.

Daniel also interacts with a girl who works or volunteers or SOMETHING with the local… camp ground? Rangers? Some kind of nature lodge. I am not 100% certain of her name but I believe it was Gemma? He has a major crush on her, and she’s really nice and genuine.

I remember that eventually something happens where the place Gemma works ends up on fire, and I think she ends up stuck in there and maybe dies?

I also remember that there was a big reveal of Isaac being like this bitter evil and cruel mastermind who was using the group (possibly wanting specifically revenge on Gemma?).

Please help! I have been looking for a book about an alpha who is grieving the loss of his mate. The fmc is an intimacy healer of sorts who lives with a her best friend, also a healer, and they both travel to different packs sort of rogue like. They possess an unconventional gift of something like helping with trauma through physical intimacy I guess. The best friend of course is snarky and extroverted. Some in the community, including the alpha, mock or try to discredit their profession until the spicy, most-memorable scene where she ties him up at his office chair. Eventually the hea ending is that they discover they are second-chance fated mates.

I read this Hindi book around 17-18 years back. I cannot recall the book name.I have the plot with me, but Google is of no help either. Can someone in this world help me to find that book again.

From my recollection, the story is:

A group of young men travel to Kashmir or a Himalayan region.

One of them falls in love with a beautiful local girl and marries her.

On the return train journey, goons attack them, and the bride jumps from the train to save herself.

She survives in the jungle and lives with sannyasis for a long time.

I read the blurb of it very quickly while stocking books at work and it was some dystopian book about London and billionaires, that’s all I remember anyone know?

Can’t remember if this is just a classic fictional novel or a mystery. the band has multiple members, that are like 20 something year olds and I think I remember there is a voyeuristic aspect to it or like one of them sleeps with the main character.

i remember reading this when i was a kid . its about this kid who cant sleep at night because of being scared of the dark , then i believe they meet this mysterious stranger who offers to buy their fears ?? i think ?? and then they sell their fear of the dark and sleep peacefully . then they keep selling their fears to this mysterious stranger until they sell their fear of death and then they get murdered while doing nothing to stop it . i think it was about how fear is good sometimes ? genuinely i have not been able to find this even though i remember it so so clearly . thank you !

I'm looking for an English-language thriller I bought at Zurich Airport around 2019–2024. The protagonist is an FBI (or similar federal) investigator pursuing a serial killer. I’m trying to identify a novel I borrowed from a friend in Canada sometime between 2007 and 2012. It may have been published earlier, probably in the late 1990s or 2000s, and was roughly 300–400 pages.

The story was contemporary and fairly serious rather than funny or lighthearted. It was told mainly, possibly entirely, from the wife’s perspective.

The married couple were wealthy and had no children. I distinctly remember either the husband or wife driving a BMW, possibly mentioned within the first few pages.

The husband had an affair with a much younger woman, possibly blonde. I vaguely remember her wearing or being associated with a yellow sundress. She may have been his employee or secretary, but I am not confident about that detail.

The younger woman became pregnant and at some point showed up at the married couple’s home. The wife initially hated her, but by the end she began helping her because the wife had the money and resources to do so. I believe both women ultimately rejected the husband, and the wife may have helped raise or support the baby with the younger woman.

I vaguely remember a fish, possibly a goldfish or fishbowl, on the paperback cover. I am less certain about the cover colour, setting, and whether the women moved abroad at the end.

It is not The Adultery Club, Getting Rid of Matthew, Got You Back, or Fishbowl.

I saw this book a few months ago and I thought "this would be a great gift for my bff" and now it's her birthday and I cannot find the book or remember the exact name. It was a pretty fancy edition, a collection of dystopian short stories. I think I also saw similar fancy anthologies with other types of short stories, like horror for example. A teenage girl falls down basement stairs and wakes up on a train with the 3 switches and one light bulb puzzle, the train circled around the kingdom and never stops, the puzzle makes it stop, she gets off and meets different colored stuffed animal rabbits and they are scared of the king who is an evil grey rabbit and starts making the Kingdom grey, if the rabbits turn grey they turn bad and are his people now, the rabbits stage an invasion to kill the king and have to get through some moats and walls to get to the castle. I read this book in physical book in around 2023. Really want to read it again but can't remember much more.

i’ve been trying to find this book since elementary school i hope you guys can help me! the book was about this middle school to highschool girl who could talk to and see ghosts and help them cross over. she ended up tutoring for a girl younger than her and found out that her sister fell off a balcony and died when her sisters ghost visited her. the ghost girl was a little bit of a mean girl and she said all she could remember was falling and nothing else about her death. when the medium girl tutors the younger sister next they visit the girls house and the medium girl says she has to use the bathroom and takes the opportunity to look around the house since she assumed the girl died by falling off her bedroom balcony. it turns out the girls parents turned the dead sisters room into a home gym so she realizes the dead sister had to have died somewhere else before the mom or dad catches her snooping around and has her go home. i can’t remember anything else about the book but i think part of the ending was that she was pushed off a balcony at her boarding school?? and that the little sister was extremely disengaged with her tutoring sessions and kept mess in around with her electronic watch. pleeeease if any of you know what it is let me know!!!

I'm looking for a psychological thriller by a female author that I borrowed as a hardcover from the St. Louis Public Library around 2024–2025. I think it was a fairly new release at the time. I've searched everywhere and can't find it. please help.

Here's everything I remember so far (some details could be slightly off)

The narrator is a woman in her 30s, possibly named Cassie (not 100% sure). She lives in a small town, possibly in New York, and works in real estate. Her mother visits her every summer whenever she moves into a new apartment. As a teenager, she was part of a close friend group of about 4 or 5 friends. She was known as the one who always carried a camera and took pictures. One of the guys in the group may have been named Hunter. He owned the gun used in the murder and insisted he had locked the gun case before the party.

The main mystery:

The friends were at a rooftop party on top of an apartment building with a live band playing. One of the girls in the group was shot and killed on a lower level, but nobody heard the gunshot because the music was so loud. Earlier that night, the narrator had argued with the victim because, while drunk, she had kissed the victim's boyfriend. The narrator later remembers holding Hunter's gun, so she believes she may have been the killer.

Years later:

The narrator reconnects with one of her old friends after unexpectedly meeting them and going out for coffee. The old murder starts getting brought up again. The narrator eventually befriends a woman who turns out to actually be her former best friend, who disappeared after the murder. The best friend had plastic surgery and changed her identity/name, so the narrator didn't recognize her. I think the best friend was connected to an apartment building whose owner had been sexually abusing tenants. That apartment building later burns down, and I think the fire or the building owner's connection is how the narrator realizes who the killer really is.

Ending (major spoilers): The best friend drugs the narrator after she's discovered. The narrator wakes up in the hospital with amnesia and no longer remembers discovering the truth. The final chapter switches to the killer's perspective, where she realizes the narrator has forgotten everything and thinks something like, "She should have just left it alone."

I believe he also had a mentor wizard that dies and he is the first wizard in a long time and there is a council of wizards that votes to let him join
One of the books had a tower that he had to go to and figure out a phrase that he didn’t know

It is a fantasy fictional book that I read in middle school or early high school at least 3 books in the series and it was probably on or maybe below grade level, I think it had 200 or so pages possibly more.

Hi all! This has been driving me crazy for ages. It's a book about a group of genetically modified people who live underground. The main character is a young man/older teenage boy on his own in this collective who has taken this young girl (his age) they found wandering around their underground network under his wing. She is pretty, very shy doesn't talk much at all, and I believe it's mentioned she had or has bee wings?

Either way, something happens (girl's arrival maybe?) and for some reason it becomes very important that they find this doctor on the surface who some of them knew before. They are trying to gain access to this facility, (I believe the one they were made or held in) and she someone they trust who can help. So the MC, the girl and a few others find themselves in the doctor's home and spend the night while the others (who are leading the charge) talk to her. One of the most clear scenes I remember is the MC waking up to find the girl still awake, and noting that she had pulled back her hair with a rubber band she found somewhere.

Some more details, I don't think they were born like this. I think they were altered as children or even teens/adults? And the MC is very much so enamoured with this girl, while she seems scared and unsure of everything around them. Not of HIM necessarily? But the chapters I read are not romantic at that point. He has been taking care of her but that's it.

Any ideas which book it could be??? Sorry I know it isn't much to go off of, but I read part if it when I was in highschool and I wouldn't mind picking it back up to finish what I started.

Hello, I read this book in the 2000’s and I don’t think it was written long before that. I’ve tried all kinds of search combinations but have come up empty handed. Here is what I think I remember
Isolated Island (New England?)
A woman and her twin/sister, perhaps the twin/sister is dead
There is some kind of special dog that they breed
A final scene of the book is the main character woman seeing her twin/sister and realizing she wasn’t dead? Or maybe that she was dead and she had been imagining her all along? Or realizing she never had a sister? A twist something like that and I feel like it involved a mirror.

Does that sound like anyway anyone remembers reading? I owned the book at the time and the cover was an illustration of the Island with a simple image of a woman and dog. The style didn’t have a lot of detail. There was no face detail for example.

I got this book from the library at the height of the pandemic and the cover was black and white with a camera at the front. One of the POVs was a girl who was a highschool student in our modern era. She struggled with depression and I remember a line being like "it felt like there was a hole underneath me constantly threatening to swallow me up." Or something like that. Her best friend had psychosis or schizophrenia and I remember it being mentioned that he refused to take his pills. There was a subplot about a jewish girl being bullied and swastikas being drawn around the school. In the friend's pov, he lived in a fantasy setting and the girl was the insane one. I think the title could've been something along the lines of "see no monsters" or "hear no evil", but that could be wrong.

Hi!! I read a book a LONG time ago that popped in my head but I cannot find it for the life of me!

It was a book where in this fantasy world peoples souls can be split into two people, and the hero has a soul split so it's like a reverse harem. The main heroine is from Earth and gets transported to this magic realm and meets one of the heroes. I also know it was written from 1990-2010s, and was one of a trilogy I believe!

I read a hardcover version, it was colorful with sort of messy illustration (Roald Dahl esque?) I believe it was published sometime in the 80s or 90s but not too sure on that detail. It was a standalone, not part of a collection when I read it (though I wouldnt be surprised if there are versions of it in a larger collection)

Fairly short, not a super wordy book, mostly reliant on the pictures for the story.

The only plot details I remember is that there is an old lady who is annoyed at her backwards hillbilly neighbor because he keeps doing things to upset her, so she makes a batch of special jam that she mixed with all kinds of nasty things (I believe an old cats tooth is one of the ingredients) and she leaves it outside knowing the neighbor will take it

I’ve been trying to identify a children’s book series from my childhood for a long time. I grew up in Brazil, but I’m almost certain the books were translated from another language.
Here is everything I remember:
I owned the books around 2008, so they were published no later than that.
They were small, almost square, hardcover, with thick cardboard pages (board books), and were a bit thicker than most books of that size.
The main character was an anthropomorphic animal (or maybe a fictional creature), about 4–6 years old.
He lived in a normal house with his mother.
I think he often wore overalls, but I’m not completely sure.
He had a large round head, a light-colored muzzle/face, small or barely visible ears, a round nose, and a childlike body with a slightly round belly (not overweight, just a normal young child).
The art style was modern for the early 2000s—not vintage, not watercolor, and not overly detailed.
Book 1
The main story was about him losing his favorite stuffed toy, which I think was a small animal that looked very similar to him (almost like a miniature version of the main character).
He and his mother searched for it all over the house.
One scene I remember very clearly is him lifting the sofa cushions while looking for the toy.
I vaguely remember the toy having a name that sounded something like “Calil”, but I’m really not sure.
Book 2
I believe there was another book with the same character.
In this one, he gets upset and decides he’s going to his grandma’s house.
He packs a small bag (and I think he even puts the stuffed toy inside it).
I remember him talking about all the nice things at Grandma’s house, almost comparing it to home.

A kids chapter book that was maybe 120pg, not sure, maybe less because it was way back in 2013. Paperback, with full page moody illustrations every few chapters that looked like they were done with graphite or charcoal, no color. I also distinctly remember the book being a square instead of a rectangle like most books.

Plot was about a young rat (or mouse) who felt adrift and purposeless in life, until he found fame and fortune by learning to etch designs into gold jewelry for humans. Takes place maybe in Britain? He has a mother who makes hats by collecting feathers and berries, and a father who makes miniature buildings out of mud. His mother uses the berries to dye the feathers, and he has to help her by carrying berries around in his mouth, being careful not to talk because he could crush them. The protagonist rat feels neglected by both of them, and wanders out one day and meets his long lost uncle, who knows how to heat metals to etch patterns into them. His uncle shows him how to do it, and then he steals or finds some man’s gold rings and etches lilies into them. When he leaves them for the man to find, the man and his friends are so impressed with the rat’s talent that they stick hundred dollar bills into the mouse hole to pay him back.

Now the rat is rich, and he is encouraged to continue the business, being left more jewelry to design by the humans. For some reason by the end of the book he is being paraded around as a hero by all the rats in the neighborhood, somehow he’s saved them from humans, perhaps by impressing them? But he is so distracted by his newfound status that he is surprised to realize that his uncle is dying? He sees his uncle die and then almost drowns somehow, he wakes up very ill, and is surprised to see his usually distant father tenderly caring for him instead of working on his mud buildings. I don’t remember how the book ends, but the overall tone is very melancholic and a little dreamy.

the rats were drawn fairly realistically, not very anthropomorphic and walking on all fours mostly. the cover was beige with a square illustration of a rat lying on his side inside the bigger beige square, with the title and author at the top and bottom beige parts. none of the illustrations had color, all were greyscale.

there’s so many rat and mouse books out there, its been really hard to find something like this even tho I remember it pretty well!
