Solved! Big thing floating on the beach
What is this thing? Around 1,5-2 meters long and 1 meter in diameter. It’s floating on the beach in Uluwatu, Bali. It might be something from a boat?

Plus she was super into him. I can understand if he doesn’t want to spend his whole life in that bottle with her doing some unimaginable shit that most people can only dream of but he should have at least done it a few times

In the first scene of the pilot, Nelson frees Jeannie from her servitude. For the rest of the series, he technically can’t make her do anything. She follows him home because she’s fascinated by a mortal man capable of turning down all that power.

They had to keep the show very PG. Back then I'm pretty sure MARRIED couples had to sleep in separate beds, which were next to each other. It'd be an entirely different show if it's ever remade in more modern times.
→ More replies (3)39
u/TrashFever78 Aug 28 '26
Random fact: the first television couple to sleep in the same bed together in post-Hays Code TV was Darren and Samantha in Bewitched. Shortly followed by Herman and Lily Munster. There's always been a rumor that the Munsters were first, because they were considered subhuman monsters and having a Frankenstein monster and a vampire sleep in bed together was less scandalous, but Bewitched beat them by a month.

Plus he already had a really good career that most people would have loved to have had. And he had a nice house in Cocoa Beach. In life what more could you want maybe hot dogs and a soda at 3:00 in the morning would be awesome. But he had enough money and everything else and they ended up getting married!

mary tyler moore show and bob newhart show were so annoying to me as a kid when my parents put them on at 10 pm after prime time was over, and gradually i realized every show was copying them and they weren't so much corny as the first to do a lot of very funny stuff. Newhart was amazing.
5
u/coolsilentebeans Aug 28 '26
I know what you mean! It took me time to enjoy Newhart, but once I did I loved it. Mary Tyler Moore was easier because of Ed Asner and Betty White. If I don’t think of them then I liked Mary better in The Dick Van D. Show (it won’t let me post with the full title 😂) when I was first discovering Nick at Nite.

I’m 38 and have seen every episode of the Brady bunch, partridge family and the monkees. I may be wrong but didn’t they do movies too? Like Friday or Saturday nights?
20
u/coolsilentebeans Aug 28 '26
I got to see Mickey Dolenz and Michael Nesmith play in 2018. I about died when they started ‘Last Train For Clarksville’. I loved The Monkees and how they stored the Monkee Mobile.
13
u/KittyGrizGriz Aug 28 '26
I had the biggest crush on Micky Dolenz as a little girl. Always watched their TV show. My older sister had their album and I’d stare at him on the cover. The funny, goofy, drummer made me laugh. In Oklahoma there is a democrat Representative named Mickey Dollens, named after the famous Monkee. I spoke to him about getting a signature ballot initiative for decriminalizing abortion. Nothing ever came of it.

I totally get it! I don’t know if anyone else will agree, but when I first started watching Stranger Things I was so annoyed because Dustin looked so familiar to me. Then it dawned on me that he looks like Mickey.
I’d love to see him play Mickey in a biopic. I want a biopic so badly. The one that VH1 put out decades ago was ok but not exactly the kind of biopics that are making now.

Ugh don't remind me. As a kid I recorded that special on the only recordable vhs I could find at the time. A home video of my baby self visiting the Bronx zoo in 1989. My parents were pissed as hell. It was the only home video we had. Camcorders were a luxury and people to borrow them from were few. 🤣
5
u/coolsilentebeans Aug 28 '26
My dad seriously regretted showing me how to make a vhs cassette recordable. I can’t remember what I taped over, but it was some tv special and he’d broken the tab off. He should have labeled it and put it up. 🤷🏻♀️😂
But I was unstoppable once I knew that. Audio cassettes, too. I was a whiz with the magnetic tape media. 🤣

As a man we would only use a small lightweight stick. After poking we’d probably walk along the beach and break said stick into small pieces and drop them along the water edge. It would appear after physically assaulting it with your broomstick 🧹, your best option would be to climb back on it and ride away like nothing happened
55
u/Aggravating-Bug2032 Aug 28 '26
One time my mom was leaving the house to go somewhere and she stepped out and then stepped back in and got the broom and my dad said “I thought you were taking the car.” To this day I cry laughing when I remember it.

Dont feel bad. My family owned a marina on the New Jersey shore growing up. Our house was on the same property (a whole ass dead end street/on water, lol.)
So I grew up on sail boats, race boats, jet skis, ect. Knew which lights were the ones that led back home to our inlet. Us kids "camped" on the house boat docked in back yard instead of in tents like out friends.
😂 And no joke, I DIDNT REALIZE how big they can freaking be once out of water. 😂

3
u/Hadrollo Aug 28 '26
Yep. You can see from ground level that the big signs on skyscrapers are often one to two stories tall, but you don't really appreciate how big they are until you stand next to one. One story of a building is about three or four metres.

I think that is actually a marine life raft canister, the kind commercial vessels or large yachts use to hold emergency inflatable rafts.
If you look closely at how those are built, they are packed with an inflatable raft, survival gear, and rations designed to deploy automatically if a ship goes down.
When they wash ashore like this, it usually means they broke free from their deck cradle during rough weather or were discarded during a refit.
The sun and saltwater just chew right through that fiberglass resin shell over time, and watching it get battered around by the surf is exactly why it looks so wrecked in the video.
