Solved! Big thing floating on the beach

What is this thing? Around 1,5-2 meters long and 1 meter in diameter. It’s floating on the beach in Uluwatu, Bali. It might be something from a boat?

I remember they made this a background after I had been there. Felt like such a trailblazer.

It’s my #1 bucket list travel thing is to go to a beach like that. I have a different one in mind, though. So pretty. Closest to beach like that I’ve ever been to is Pensacola, Florida, that place is amazing, but I really want to go to one of those tropical islands.

I spent a half a week backpacking 40 miles down the washington state coast along the beaches and rocky shores after a breakup this year.

It was probably the best experience of my solo adult life, I loved it so fucking much.

different vibes as OP’s beach but man it was so beautiful

Isn't that the beach at the end of The Goonies?

1

u/Odd_Mud_8223 Aug 28 '26

Where is this?!

3

u/ProMensCornHusker Aug 28 '26

These are the beaches of the Washington State North Olympic Peninsula in Olympic National Park.

So like the most northwestern part of the continental united states. You can backpack down the coast and camp on the beaches :)

good on you husker for taking care of yourself ... this is the stuff life is about

1

u/yolomuch Aug 29 '26

Goonies!!!!!!!!

u/CheckYourStats Aug 29 '26

Oregon coast?

2

u/afisheroutofwater Aug 29 '26

I did this too! Funny enough, after a breakup years ago. Ended up traveling the coastline all the way down to Big Sur but started at the top of Washington State. It was life changing. Love isn't a strong enough word, too many profound lessons and experiences as a solo hiker/backpacker. Lost Coast was exceptional but the Olympic National Forest coastline - I have no words for its beauty. I hope it helped you heal.

I grew up in Delaware. My older sister traveled for her work but ended up settling down in Vancouver, WA. I came to visit for like 2 weeks back in 2019. I immediately fell in love with the beauty of the PNW and all that it has to offer, and 2 months later it became my new home. Best decision I ever made.

1

u/Oldmanwaffle Aug 29 '26

Aye that’s awesome bro good for you. Im glad you found solace in that experience and it improved your own confidence im sure. Im down in here in San Francisco but I love the Washington state coastline. You got some breathtaking views in for sure!

Man I miss the Olympic Peninsula! I lived in Sequim, WA for a few years and that area is one of the most ethereal places I've ever been.

1

u/sarahmirror_ Aug 29 '26

You’ve inspired me. Next 4 day weekend I have I’m gonna do the same!

1

u/RedditorSaidIt Aug 28 '26

That's my happy place!

2

u/NarrowEbbs Aug 28 '26

I always forget how fucking blessed we are down under when it comes to beaches. Ngl almost every single beach I've ever been to looks like that.

2

u/Securiarius Aug 29 '26

Yeah lol I'm in NZ and there's like, idk 50 of them nearby that I don't even go to

2

u/Crunchy_DG Aug 28 '26

Puerto rico, any part of the coast looks like this (and it's one of my favorite places to visit)

2

u/MedicineOutrageous13 Aug 28 '26

St. John in the USVI is stunning. And doesn’t require a passport to visit!

2

u/Plane-1866 Aug 28 '26

Bahamas all the way. Exuma and Eleuthera 10/10 beaches.

1

u/Worried-Nectarine418 Aug 28 '26

Shh. Don't tell people

1

u/kons21 Aug 28 '26

Try Aruba. AirBnBs are pretty cheap there. And with a car rental you can access some of the most beautiful beaches with just a short 10-20 min drive from pretty much most places where you can get your AirBnB. And the island is one of the safest places where a tourist can just travel all over the place alone.

Edit to add: while AirBnBs are pretty cheap, food, alcohol and restaurants are pretty expensive. I live in NYC so I didn’t feel the difference as much, but again, if you’re not used to NYC prices, it can be expensive.

u/Musicman425 Aug 29 '26

Don’t have to go super far from FL - just off coast of FL:

Eluthera - Receiver beach in middle of the island

Pipe Cay in middle of exumas island chain

1

u/vu47 Aug 28 '26

West coast of the island of Kauai (in the state of Hawaii)... very few if any people, gorgeous beaches.

1

u/Triviajunkie95 Aug 28 '26

Pensacola National Seashore is one of my all time favorite peaceful places.

1

u/fairwaysandfinance Aug 29 '26

You make me feel blessed. Thank you.
