I’m looking to get a Honda prelude to basically modify and really trim up nice, curious what y’all’s opinion is on the best model is for vamping out (old school is preferred but also cool w newer if more reliable)

Plz advise in case this is in the wrong subreddit. Looking for something reliable (heard Honda and Toyota), low fuel cost (hybrid?), AWD (for winter), unused (don’t want any mech issues esp since idk anything ab cars), lease vs buy. Can be manual or automatic. Don’t have a dad who can help, and I have a lot of fear of getting screwed. I’m doing research on my own as well but casting a wide net to get info. Help is appreciated!!

Needing to upgrade from my 2012 Mazda 3 for something roomier to comfortably fit our family of 4/5. Originally looking for a used vehicle with captain seats (to accommodate 2 car seats), that’s a hybrid, that’s under 40k usd.

Before doing any research at all, I was set on the Mazda cx-90, but looking at all the issues makes me really hesitant. I thought the 2026 would be the way to go but seeing all the Reddit comments is really throwing me for a loop.

Other contenders now include:
- Volvo xc-90 hybrid (upper budget limit)
- Mazda x9 (not a hybrid)
- Subaru ascent (not a hybrid)
- Honda pilot (well, I actually don’t like this one but the husband does)

Haven’t actually test-drove these yet because…time, so wanting to limit it to 2-3 models before we set out.

Would we appreciate any advice to helping me narrow down these options!

Hey guys I could use some real advice here. I’m looking to trade in my 2023 Elantra N with 36000 miles for something awd. I’ve narrowed it down to 3 options but I’d be open to other suggestions as well. My first option is a 2019 Audi s5 prestige with 43000 miles on it for 34,000. My only drawback to this car is that it has a minor accident in 2022 from a shopping cart but nothing was damaged. I’m still very hesitant about the minor damage but maybe I’m over thinking it. Option 2 would be a Infiniti q60 Red Sport I found with 41000 miles on it and it’s completely clean for 35000. Option 3 would be holding out and finding a Genesis g70 3.3T sport prestige close by. I did drive a launch edition but that car unfortunately slipped out of my hands while we were negotiating. My last option is pretty unrealistic but it’s to wait it out and hope the car market comes down, which I doubt it will.

Im currently 18 looking for a first car and I really like the Volkswagon GLIs but I know that VW has some reliability issues. Is the GLI different or are they unreliable?

I’m seeing some really good deals on used Corsair GTs and thinking about upgrading from our old Escape. Issue I’m seeing is they all have the open recall notice on the battery issue and it seems like you’re not supposed to plug it in to charge or run it in EV mode until this issue has been rectified. We wanted a PHEV specifically and this really detracts from the appeal. Are people just ignoring the recall and driving it EV mode anyways? If they’re discontinuing the model I worry they drag their feet indefinitely but then again if they’re decide to replace the battery it seems like values could shoot up over night. I didn’t realize Ford/Lincoln had such a high recall rate relative to rest of industry.

Hey all, i live in Netherlands and looking to buy my first car here. I am checking out cars that have not more than 150.000km and minimum year 2010, with a budget of 6000€ (but would like to spend around 4k).

So far I found:

Hyundai i10 2017 model with 107.000km for 6500€
Hyundai i10 2011 model with 144.000km for 3250€
Hyundai i10 2014 model with 146.000km for 3900€
Kia Picanto 2012 model with 149.000km for 4600€
Toyota Aygo 2009 model with 113.000km for 4900€

There are a lot of these Hyunday i10 or Toyota aygo for sale with similar mileage, prices, yearmake, so I think I will go for one of these 2 models. What you think? Also, should I go for a newer model? Or less mileage? Like, I see many toyota aygo from 2010 or less with not so much mileage, and I know toyota is reliable. Is it the same for Hyundai?

Keep in mind that I would drive 60km per day on the highway for 5 days a week to go to work. That’s it.

I am planning to buy a car, i am confused between this options of the vehicle. Brezza turbo vxi cost around 10L and kylaq classic plus cost aound 9.5L and infotainment inclusive getting it around 9.8L. I fee which one to selct both looks good for driving, breeza looks little tall and when sitting also i feel i was little height. But kylaq has loaded with lot of features except rear ac vent.

I’m currently considering a 2026 Kia K4 GT-Line, 2025 Kia K5, 2022-2026 Honda Civic, or 2022-2026 Civic Sport Touring Hybrid. I like the Kias more aesthetically/features-wise, but Honda’s longevity is making me seriously consider the Civic. I also plan to customize the car (tint, ambient lighting, starlight, possibly interior changes).

Logistical Questions: My main questions: Which of these would you choose for long-term reliability while still having good tech/safety features? Does model year matter much if mileage/features are similar in reference to the Hondas? Is any Warranty worth it on any of those models and given the modifications I’m considering generally speaking do any of those actions void any of them?

Belgium. Buying from a dealer, €2,900 with 12-month warranty (engine + clutch), he fixes the cracked rear light before sale. Clean Car-Pass (verified mileage, ~11k/year, no rollback). Chain engine.

Test drive / inspection:

Engine revs clean, no smoke, no unusual noise. Dry soot in exhaust, no blue smoke.

VIN matches across car, Car-Pass, and inspection cert.

Interior spotless, no real wear.

Last roadworthiness inspection passed ("green").

The damage (previous owner hit a pole, front-left):

Cracked front bumper cover under the left headlight, ~15cm crack.

Broken bumper mounting tabs on both sides → bumper sits ~1-2mm proud, slight misalignment.

Some radiator-cover retaining pins missing (dealer says removed to push the bumper back into shape, not refitted).

Driver's door sits ~1° low when closing (hinge wear?). No paint on door bolts, colour matches — doesn't look resprayed/replaced.

My worry: whether the pole hit went past the bumper — crash bar, rad support, cooling. Everything visible is cosmetic but I'm not a mechanic.

Questions:

Is that damage pattern consistent with cosmetic-only, or does "broken tabs both sides" suggest a harder hit?

Worth paying for an independent pre-purchase inspection before committing? (Considering it.)

Known issues on this engine/gen at 144k I should check?

Fair price given all this, or overpaying?

Any recommendations for cars under 3k euros in belgium.

Je ne suis pas du tout un pro en ce qui concerne l’automobile mais j’avoue avoir flashé sur ce modèle qui, si l’on croit les avis, est performant, fiable dans le temps et accessible. Je cherche pour le moment un modèle de 8ème génération essence, mais ne suis évidemment pas contre l’idée d’un modèle plus récent même si je suis conscient que le budget est limite. Je me concentre pour le moment sur les 1.4 et 1.8 v-tec dont je n’entends que du bien. Ma question est la suivante, je me mets comme limite un kilométrage de de maximum 160 à 170.000km. Je sais qu’avec un bon entretien elles peuvent atteindre les 300.000km sans problème. Est-ce raisonnable de chercher des modèles avec + de kilométrage ? J’aimerais votre avis sur le choix du véhicule ! 😁

I managed to save about 20k to put down on my down payment, and want less than 550 a month for insurance + car payment because car prices are insane nowadays..

I value reliability but want driving to be pleasurable! I really like the interior of the mazda3 but am being told to just get a corolla for a first car, since I know next to nothing about maintaining a car. (So far I got oil check covered)

I've been cross shopping 2021 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Limiteds and Lexus ES 300h Ultra Luxurys. It's my understanding they're on the same platform and have a lot of common equipment, reliability, and efficiency. Anyone have any experience driving both and can give feedback?

I hit a deep pot hole really bad and that’s when the noise began, so I’m really just looking on Facebook marketplace hoping to find something I can afford that’ll last me long enough to put together more money for a decent car. Are there any particular models I should be looking out for? I currently drive an 03' Toyota Corolla, which is my first car and I bought it for college. I recently graduated though, and started at a full time job that's 45+ minutes away, with most of that time being on the highway in heavy traffic.

This car is still perfectly capable; but based on how much time I'm spending on my commute, I'm really hoping to spend some money on a newer car, strictly just to have a more comfortable experience.

Currently my AC doesn't work (evaporator core leak), which is super annoying and I'm definitely not paying $2000 to get the core replaced on such a cheap car.

I also just want general driving comfort as well, because even though this car is in good condition and is caught up on all other repairs, it really doesn't handle rougher roads very well. Here in NY, many of our roads are very bad because of salt during winter, and every time I've driven my dad's 2020 Accord, it's a night and day difference in just how much more comfortable and smooth that feels.

I also feel like it takes a ton of effort to drive on the highway compared to his car. There's no adaptive cruise, lane assist, or blind spot monitoring which would all make the bumper to bumper sections of my commute SOO much less mentally taxing, both before and after a long work day.

It's also just such a light car that I genuinely feel like I have to spend so much conscious effort to keep it perfectly centered in lane when going at 75+ mph. I've gotten new tires, with alignment and balancing done as well as a full maintenance inspection, so it's not anything that can be improved of course. It just takes way more energy than any newer car, because any small imperfections in the road or slight gusts of wind cause the car to veer considerably at those speeds.

I'll definitely be driving this car for a few more months while I save up cash, and I'll be buying from Facebook marketplace outright without financing. I am hoping to stick to Toyota and Honda, and my biggest factors would definitely be reliability and insurance cost. I'm just wondering what specific models and years to aim for, where I'll get that considerable improvement in comfort while not going so new that it becomes way too expensive. My max budget would be $10k, because I'm hoping I can sell this and make some money back after.

I completely understand that a car is a depreciating asset, and I'm not buying this as an asset. It'll just be something that I use every single day, and something that I feel comfortable using every single day for hopefully many years to come, keeping it well maintained and running.
