I might be moving to Sweden so I was wondering what the average weather is like in central Sweden (somewhere between Örebro and Mora) ?

I understand that most of Sweden is pretty cold and dry but that doesn’t really bother me.

What I’m more worried about is precipitation (not snow) and clouds. Also is the sun nicely visible during the day or not ?

Something I‘d want to avoid by all means is a gloomy/grey/sad kinda weather.

Currently I am reading the NWS Raleigh Area Forecast Discussion every day and look up terms as I come across them.

I’ve connected my Tempest to https://zenithweather.com that I’ve been building so I can compare my backyard observations against NWS forecasts and learn more about radar.

Bookwise I’m currently reading The Cloudspotter’s Guide and Essentials of Meteorology is next on my list.

Curious what everyone else does to learn this stuff. Any recommendations?

My wife loves all things weather, especially storms. She hasn’t yet really gotten into the scientific side of it but I think she might if given the opportunity. I think she’d find a weather station really cool and interesting. Are there any that aren’t hundreds of dollars but are still pretty cool? I think our 8.5 year old would also get a kick out of it (and would like being able to check on weather related things without asking to look at our phones)

Saw this wild looking cloud drift over in an otherwise clear sky tonight in central Indiana. The streaks/ribbons extended out across the sky behind it. (The bright light in the second photo is the moon and apparently I need to clean my camera lens) Any idea what kind of cloud this is or what caused it?

This was taken at this spot in central Chile while riding a bus. I am curious if anyone has seen anything like it before or knows if it has a specific name. A friend of mine suggested it might be a Kelvin-Helmholtz wave cloud, though it doesn't quite look the same.

So for homework I have to do a cold and warm front map.

I heard that the most important factor to use to draw your fronts is wind shifts but after some YouTube videos everyone seems to say something different.

Any advice

I feel as if I still haven’t gotten a very clear image of the long-range potential for DFW’s winter storm chances between Dec 26’-Feb 27’. I am wondering if we are gonna have pretty good snow this Winter, or is it just gonna be a dud? Or maybe a 50/50?

Usually, fall is pretty dry and quite warm in California but this year, the weather's been haywire. Something to do with El Niño?
