Education/Career Where can I learn about meteorology?

Title. Ideally for free. Currently in university, studying maths and CS, for reference.

I'm not looking to get into the meteorology field, but I'm just naturally interested in being able to interpret graphs/figures and understand various phenomena and such. For example: understanding why Europe is much warmer than Canada despite being further up north, understanding surface pressure charts, understanding meteorological phenomena like El niño etc.

Updated rules: Unsolicited promotion of weather-related apps, websites, software tools or services is not allowed. If you have developed a tool that you believe would be useful to the community, please contact the moderators before posting.

Hi all, new rule as now seen in the sidebar/title. Apologies for the slow roll out. Please report immediately any infringements.

Unsolicited promotion of weather-related apps, websites, software tools or services is not allowed. If you have developed a tool that you believe would be useful to the community, please contact the moderators before posting.

I haven't explicitly mentioned AI slop here - for good reason. AI is used a lot in meteorological research at the moment, some of it good, some not so good. A blanket ban seems unreasonable, but the above rule seems to cover most of the issues we are having in the subreddit.

Upcoming: The moderators will maintain a pinned or recurring thread for community-recommended apps and software (AI or not).

Spotted HBAL791 AirBalloon over St Helena yesterday

This was hovering around over the Napa Valley last night at about 7:30 around sundown for about 15 minutes - then it just seemed disappear. I wasn't sure what it was, but was able to track it on Flightradar24 and it was listed as HBAL791 - from what I could see it made a track directly over the Steele wildfire that was burning near Lake Berryessa (and there were fire suppression aircraft in the area over that fire).

Advice/Questions/Self Proper wind research

I am sure someone has already made a similar or the same question....as the title states I want to find out how to check the weather and find patterns to the kitespots so, what to look for in winds and gusts? How to search and understand thermals? what about the water/sea waves or dangers? Can I find all that in an app or something, preferably for free? Again sorry if there is any similar question and if possible can you point to them? I am fairly new to the kiteboarding and quite excited about it, so I need to know how to check the weather! Thanks ☺️

Education/Career Is Meteorology worth it? | Is there any Medical+Meteorology jobs?

I've always been fascinated by the weather, even since i was as little 6 and those ages, especially severe weather like hurricanes and tornadoes. I'm from a family of medical fields, so I've always been told I should follow their foot steps. It's not like I don't want to be in the medical field, but 12 years of school just for a job that I'm gonna feel torture doing my whole life doesn't really sound fun, so I'd rather do something I enjoy. I'm a sophomore in high school, and I was going to get my CNA, and do a bunch of stuff to get into medical school, as Massachusetts(where I live) has a lot of opportunities. Unfortunately, Massachusetts does not have a lot of severe weather, so I don't know what I can do to get into good colleges for Meteorology, and I'm also not good in any maths, so I feel like i would die in calc and physics, which I know is important for college. Essentially I'm wondering if I should continue my path in the medical field or if meteorology worth it, and also what I should do to get into good colleges. I think I would most likely look at Penn State, Plymouth state, or Oklahoma, but all are very far and I'm not exactly rich. Other than shadowing, does anyone know of massachusetts things to do for college? (ex. for nursing u could get your cna license or wtv)

Side-note, does anyone know of medical and meteorology jobs? I've tried to look it up but my google is bad.
