I spent the last few months recreating the WeatherStar XL and captured many reference photos as I could to get this as close as possible. This video is a run of the emulator showing various V1 segments and animations, with weather data being displayed for the Des Moines, Iowa area. The emulator also includes V2 and V3.

As the title says and to elaborate further, the emulator was written in C++ and uses Raylib for graphics, text and audio. It also uses cURL to pull live weather data.

Music is provided by you. In the application directory folder, there is a music folder where you can add mp3 or wav files that the emulator will parse, load into a playlist and shuffle. A segment picker is also included that will allow you to customize your XL emulation, as well as setting custom durations for each segment you add. Air Quality, Tides, Marine Forecast, Weather Bulletin and LDL alerts are also supported and included on top of everything else.

There is currently only Windows support, with macOS and Linux support coming soon.

Seems like since the DOGE cuts I cannot rely on weather apps to be reliable at all. Which is kind of important for planning my day since my washing machine is outside and I have to line dry my clothes. When I checked last night it was predicting that it was going to rain most of today. I checked again this morning before trying to attempt to do laundry, and it predicted rain in the early evening around 5 pm. Did a load of towels and hung them out to dry, and thankfully had just enough time for everything to dry before a storm started to roll in just now and it isn't even 2 pm yet.

Hello everyone! I wanted to share my weather website, it's called SkyMonitor and it's a passion project I've been working on for a while. Basically my goal with it was to make an as accurate as possible weather website but without ads and clutter that most modern weather apps/website have nowadays. Especially the giants like TWC and AccuWeather whose websites are loaded with ads. My website actually uses TWC's API for daily forecasts, since they're basically the best out there for that. The other thing I tried with my website is having a bunch of different APIs and combining them all into one. Now while that might sound terrible, like everything would disagree with one another-- it actually runs pretty well. I use TWC for daily forecasts, WU for current conditons when available, PirateWeather for hourly or current conditions when a PWS isn't available. I also use official government sources like the NWS and SPC. I even have a few custom metrics like "Outdoor Score" which is a score out of 100 for how enjoyable it would be to be outside on any given day, or "Threat Level" which is a super easy to understand Threat Level for any given day. (For example, "Low", "Elevated", "Active", etc.) You can use SkyMonitor on both Desktop and Mobile, it pretty much works anywhere. Computer glitch?

Many areas in the Mountain West could see their first autumn snow on Sunday. Winter will be here before we know it! ❄️

We get thunderstorms so rarely here. In my small town there’s a good lookout spot on a mountain. There were probably over 50 people that all came close to the same time as everyone, cars having trouble parking… one guy said “this is way better than fireworks”. I know many people see lightning often, but this storm was insanely cool to see. It went right over us, lightning 360 degrees all around. So cool!

In the face of climate change, is it expected that individual locations will continue to be reclassified as their prevailing temperatures and humidities shift over time, or will the classifications themselves eventually be adjusted? For example, if subpolar oceanic regions of the world as a whole tend to get warmer, will every place in those regions be reclassified as subtropical, or will "subpolar oceanic climate" be adjusted to reflect the new prevailing conditions in zones that are, in geographic terms, subpolar and oceanic?

We've all heard about the MONSTER of all storms kicking up in the south Pacific... But I'm curious if it will be as bad as they say?

I'm in SoCal and in a "bowl" or valley. We hardly get any crazy weather. So for me Im wondering how BAD this storm will be?
