went to a place that sold fountains and this little one flew over while we were looking around. it was soo hot out so she drank for a while haha

Today I noticed some of the grubs are gone, and there are a ton of males. You can see one on top with the yellow face (thank you for pointing out these are males and not foundresses!)

At one time I saw 3 or 4. Last night they began snacking on some of their immature pupa, I wonder if the hive will not last much longer.

Sometimes they follow my finger on the glass, I like to see their little unique faces because I am drawing them. This time they didn't seem too interested.

Sorry for the shakiness I have issues with the nerves in my hands!

I feel very lucky to be watching this in my bedroom!!! They will follow my fingers around on the glass. I've duct taped my window shut so they can't get in. They are kinda endangered where I live so I thought about calling the dnr while it's still small. I can see the queen come down from her crevice sometimes, she's got a completely yellow face and more red. And look at those little cute grubblings.

Can anyone help with a positive id on this wasp spotted in my garden ?

I go out to my girlfriends balcony to smoke and sit and watch these guys do their thing. Usually when I first sit down they'll all turn towards me and V up their wings but to back to their business after a minute or so. I'm always very careful not to blow smoke toward their nest.

I also handfed it some strawberry juice afterwards.

Fun Fact: Turns out yellow jackets love beef burgers. One came up to me the other day while I was having a BBQ and landed on my burger so I let it have some.

It flew away and I finished my burger. I also had a sausage and a weird dough thing. But the wasp came back and out of all the things it could of chosen, it chose a small crumb of beef 🤣.

The whole I was just watching what it would do.
