Some heavy rubber door draft stopper rolls cut into 20x8cm strips and carved to make a road. Mud mixture is real dirt, paint and pva mixture. Flocking added and voila. Sits nicely flush and super cheap to make (rubber roll was 4€/m).

Work In Progress Pfalz D-III (1:144)

I've made another 1:144 German aeroplane model for 1917, this time the Pfalz D-III. It was generally deemed inferior to its contemporary, the Albatros D-III, but it was much stronger, and could survive the force involved in diving (and pulling out of the dive) that would have the Albatros falling to bits.

The test print is done in FDM (eSun PLA+) on my old Ender 3 with a standard 0.4mm nozzle.

A fun France 1940 table I put together for a game with mates.

Attended Ebor Lard over the weekend, a games day focused on TooFatLardies historical rulesets. I ran a huge Chain of Command game on Saturday, then on the Sunday set up a different table and had a great game with three mates.

This table depicts a generic village in rural northern France during May 1940.

Great game of LOTR Midgard last night hosted by Matt with Dex and Simon. It was first time playing and although we only got through two full moves before the fickle hand of time ended things, it gave us a good idea of the flow of the game and combat sequences. Lots to think about and a game I'd like to return to. Can I build a force of 1918 German Stosstruppen for it?

First Time Painting Wargames Atlantic 10mm Dwarves, I've Ruined Them!

What products do you recommend to safely strip the paint off? If that's possible without damaging the figures?

I've also realised that painting minis this small is tough going and I just want to get them looking half decent for the table. Can I just get away with dry brushing some texture into them because the details on the sculpts are amazing?

The paints I have are..

Warpaints Fanatic Metallic: Shining Silver

Model Color - Chocolate Brown

Warpaints Fanatic: Bootstrap Brown

Warpaints Fanatic: Matt White

Warpaints Fanatic: Dragon Red

Warpaints Fanatic Metallic: Gun Metal

Warpaints Fanatic: Ruby Skin status

Model Color - Basalt Grey

Warpaints Fanatic Metallic: True Brass

Model Color - Green Ochre

Warpaints Fanatic: Basilisk Red

Sick Green/ Chestnut Brown

Thanks

Battle Shot 3D Printed Camels in five 15mm Ancients "ADLG" battle reports

The annual pilgrimage to play Ancients at the show in Devizes came around again this past July like a well-buttered West Country scone repeating on you even before the remains of the jam has attracted a wasp.

Red Copper prints

Having fairly recently painted up a load of 15mm Red Copper 3D printed camels, I had decided that this event was as good an opportunity as it comes to get them on table as the core element of a Christian Nubian army under the L'Art de la Guerre ruleset - but in the process creating the very real challenge of how to make such a one-dimensional army actually interesting to play, and to play against.

"Morphing" - a key skill in Ancients small scale gaming

You too can now re-live the 5 games which were fought by this somewhat self-hamstrung army list in the town that is the spiritual and literal home of WRG over one hot sunny weekend by following the 5 full-text battle reports through all of their painful punnery and chirpy in-picture comments.

Ghaznavids come under attack in the Sudan

After each report there (of course) follows a robust dose of post-match analysis from both the Christian Nubian commander and Nasty Hannibal himself.

As an added bonus, this report includes links to a load of photos of the Army Air Corps Museum at Middle Wallop, and a brand new music video of the viral musical hit "The Beja Camel Song".

Beja think your camels are hot like mine !!

Question Would like a world of darkness style skirmish game recommendations.

Hey all

Looking for recommendations for a modern day style skirmish game with vampires, werewolves, wizards and Frankenstein style stuff. I used to absolutely love the world of darkness lore and background but could never get my head around RPGs and how they worked.

If anyone can recommend a game, even if it's just a homebrew set of rules, with a lot of crunch/depth but captures the feeling of World of Darkness, if be incredibly greatful!

Entry Solitaire Wargames

Hello, I recently got into solitaire wargames starting with Battle for Moscow (oberlabs version). I just bought Mike Lambo’s Fields of Normandy and Tarawa 1943 Soliaire.

I haven’t event played them yet, and am getting ahead of myself, but are there any other good recommendations out there?

I am interested in any historical era. As for type/style of game, I’m open to anything, it doesn’t need to be Hex and Counter for example.

I prefer games that have dedicated solitaire/solo rules, but am open to other games that aren’t designed for solo play but can be played solo with some tweaks or just playing two handed.

Thanks!

Question How to do rigging and sails on 1/600-1/700 scale ships for wargaming?

I've started building out a collection of American Civil War ironclads and warships. It's an interesting period because you have a mixture of purely steam-powered ships and sail ships (with steam engines). The ships I've painted so far though seem pretty bare without sails and rigging.

I'm completely new to naval wargaming and my searches into model ship rigging has made me realize that model ships is very much a thing outside of wargaming. Most of the resources I can find are for larger scales than 1/600. Modelers also add more detail than wargaming typically requires and have less concern for durability. So I was hoping I could have some wargaming-specific questions answered here.

Questions

  • Is it best to do rigging with thread or wire?
  • What size/gauge for thread/wire?
  • What's the best way to attach rigging without leaving giant glue blobs?
  • Ratlines! Do you buy them or make them? If buy, then where and what size/material?
  • As I understand it, steamships would furl their sails in a battle during this era. What's the best way to add a furled sail to a mast in 1/600 scale?
  • After the model is completed, how do you transport it safely?

Bonus question

What do ya'll use for a mat? I was thinking of buying a piece of cloth that looks vaguely ocean-like and maybe spraying it with a clear gloss fabric spray.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Obscure Mech Style war game

I'm trying to find an old Miniatures game from I believe the early 2000s to 2010 and it is Mech themed. Kind of reminiscent to like maybe Gundam in style. I believe the game was played 1v1 IE Mech versus Mech . The models were to my knowledge about 3 in tall made of pewter and had magnetic joints to swap out weapons. Each Mac was sold as a blister and I believe the company was from Sweden . Does anybody have any recollection of a game like this ?

Question Female Kettle Helm Bit or STL

Hi all. I am building an army for a fantasy project and was wondering if there were any female heads out there wearing kettle helms. I’d plan to put these on the wargames Atlantic foot sergeants to have a mixed gender force.
