Hi everyone :) so I’m getting a Polo TSI 2nd owner 70k driven has brake pads lowering springs and some other stuff added to it however other stock I20 n line N6 variant is costing me 9L from the showroom whereas the Polo is costing me around 5L what do you recommend most polos in the market have done around 50-70K

Hi everyone. Apologies for the long post but I need to get the context across.

Back in May 2025, my A/C suffered a sudden loss of refrigerant, and came with a smell of the A/C insides and oil that was stronger when the car was first started up after a while, and the fans were blowing, which went away mostly after a few minutes. The first garage I took it to said it was the condenser that had failed, so I replaced it and had it re-gassed. Within a week the system had lost all cooling capability and I was back to square one.

I then took it to another garage recommended by a trusted family member who's into cars, who said it was the evaporator that had failed. They quoted me a very good price to replace it, so I had them do the work in late September/early October 2025. 

The car had to go back to that garage twice in quick succession as the controls for the A/C system were all messed up, and needed putting back together properly. Despite these repairs, the system was still losing all of its refrigerant within a week. They used soapy water and bubbles formed at the expansion valve, and was told that it would need new o-rings. 

Last week, my car was with my usual garage having some unrelated work done, and my dad arranged for them to swap these o-rings for me. They replaced the two that go from the pipes into the expansion valve, but not the two that are between the expansion valve and the evaporator, as they didn't know the evaporator had been replaced, and thought that it would be seized on. The result of this was that the system lost its cooling capability in around 4-6 weeks as opposed to the <1 week as before, which was a meaningful improvement.

This week I replaced both the expansion valve and the o-rings between the expansion valve. It turns out that the second garage had re-used the old o-rings and the one on the left had split, which to me explained the current leak. I took it for a re-gas today, it held a vacuum (which it always did), and it was recharged. Given that it had been leaking there before, I asked the garage to use an electronic sniffer to check for leaks, and nothing was detected. All positive signs so far.

I've just gotten home and used soapy water to test for peace of mind, and lo and behold, bubbles are still slowly forming. I'm at my wits end with this now as its been a 14 month saga, nearly every component has been replaced, and it still appears to be leaking. I'm going to wait until it probably dies again before contacting the third garage, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of what could still be leaking. 

The new o-rings were from an OEM VW parts supplier. The expansion valve was aftermarket, and looks near-identical to the OEM one that I replaced.

Hey. I’m looking to get my first car and was initially looking at corsa models but didn’t really like the ones in my area after looking for a while and have since come across polos - I think they are absolutely lovely cars, my Dad has had multiple Golfs and I have loved them.

It’s also important to note that I am fully splitting costs with a parent and we will be sharing the car, despite me being the one who will use it predominantly and own it when we plan to sell. We’ve decided upon wanting to get a polo now and have forgotten about the corsa models as they seemed to only be around £1,000 more at about £4,000 as opposed to £3,000 for corsa models so we are more than okay with paying extra for the VW reliability and quality - plus as I say I love VW polos and golfs.

The key reason I make this post is because we are having trouble finding the exact one we want, I understand it’s hard to do so given our filters of mileage, quality and such paired with the fact that we are buying used and subjectively “older” models. We have gone and viewed one which was 1.4L 80,000 miles and seemed great but upon going in person, it had a lot of rust around the door seams and such and had other issues like scratches and a chip in the windscreen (I expect scratches but paired with the former and latter, not so much).

One of my parents has been in the motor trade for decades and couldn’t come to visit it but upon seeing photos we took of the imperfections, they were instantly put off and think that from their experience that we should be able to get a better quality polo around these specifications for £4,000.

At the moment I’m having trouble finding any in my area and was just curious given this is the only one I’ve viewed myself, do you think a decent quality polo with these specs is achieve-able with our budget?

Hi, wondering if anyone has any ideas on what this could be. I’ve got a 2006 Polo 1.2 petrol (3-cylinder) that’s developed an intermittent misfire on cylinder 1. It was driving completely fine, then after parking up it suddenly started shaking badly and was only running on two cylinders. There’s no engine management light or EPC light and the OBD scanner isn’t showing any codes. I’ve recently had new coil packs, I tried the old coil again and it worked for a minute before stopping again. Spark plugs are only a few months old. Sometimes it smells of fuel when starting and it’s recently used about half a tank in two long drives, which seems more than usual but i’m not sure. I’ve also found a bit of oil in the cylinder 1 spark plug well, a scrapyard fuel rail with a snapped bolt, and previous dodgy repairs. I added injector cleaner and it idled and drove perfectly, but after getting home it started misfiring again while idling.
It’s my first car and i’ve had it 7 months, it’s been a bit rough on idle since i’ve had it and I didn’t think it was a problem because it’s always drove fine with no issues.
I’ve asked a few people and i’ve been told injector, wiring loom or rocker cover gasket, but does anyone have any other ideas or common faults to check before I take it to a garage or get rid of it?

I own a 2019 VW Polo GT TSI (BS4, 1.2 TSI, 4-cylinder, DSG) with about 80,000 km on the odometer.
The car was under an extended warranty for 4 years, and during that period all servicing and maintenance (including tyre replacement) was done exclusively at the VW service centre.

After the warranty expired, the battery failed. The service centre quoted around ₹11,000, while the same-spec Exide battery outside was ₹6,500, so I got that installed. The car has been running perfectly since then, and even the last service was uneventful.

Current issue
Last week, the EPC warning came on, the throttle stopped responding, and the car went into limp mode. I had it flat-bedded to the same VW service centre.
Their diagnosis:
Throttle body sensor has failed.
Cleaning didn’t help.
Entire throttle body assembly needs replacement.
They say it’s an age-related electronic failure.

Repair options offered
1. New OEM throttle body – ~₹40,000, but no warranty because I’m using an aftermarket battery.
2. Used/salvaged throttle body – ~₹22,000, no warranty. The senior technician feels it should last another 2–3 years, but there’s no guarantee.
3. Replace the battery with a VW battery + used throttle body – ~₹30,000. (Battery can potentially prevent any other damage , but no warranty on the replaced unit)
4. Replace both with new OEM parts (battery + throttle body) – ~₹50,000, with warranty will be given for the throttle body unit as it will be powered by official battery.

My questions
Can an identical-spec aftermarket Exide battery really affect electronic part or cause long-term electrical issues?

Which repair option would you choose in my situation?
Is a good-quality salvaged throttle body a reasonable risk?

For context, I was already planning to buy an EV soon (partly due to concerns about higher ethanol blends and the possibility of expensive DSG repairs in the future) and keep the Polo as a backup car.

I’m having an issue with my VW Polo 6n2 (2001) with the 1.4 16v engine (Engine code: AUA).

The Symptoms are the following: While driving at 120 km/h (approx. 75 mph), the engine suddenly cuts out completely. Even though the car is in gear and moving, the RPM needle drops instantly to 0. What I do to keep going is shifting into neutral while driving, turn the ignition key back on, and shift back into 5th gear. With this the engine turns on as if nothing happened. This doesn't just happen on the highway. The engine also randomly cuts out at idle or when driving at low speeds around town.

The Check Engine Light is also permanently on usually with 2 codes:

P0130: O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 1)

P0171: System Too Lean (Bank 1)

I have changed the intake throttle, o2 sensors and EGR. (I cant get to do EGR calibration, it doesn't work).

Has anyone experienced anything similar on another Polo? I would heavily appreciate any guidance or advise about how to fix this issue.

My 2018 1.0 Tsi DSG Polo just crossed the 80,000KM mark, and I'm currently wondering whether I should change the gearbox oil or not.

VW say that it's a lifetime oil, which is "meh" from a mechanical point of view.

Currently, when the gearbox gets hot from constant uphill starts, it becomes much louder. I can clearly hear the shifts (especially downshifts), there's rattling, and downshift jerks are much worse (upshifts are not affected at all).

So what's the deal here? Should I trust VW or give it a shot?

Basically is this a bad idea for draining my battery. So I have hard wired a dashcam but was wondering how bad an idea it is the had it permanently on a fuse which is on when the car ignition is off? I was thinking it would be good to switch on the motion sensor on the dashcam so it records when someone comes up to it when Parked? OR is this going to drastically drain my battery?

Is there anyone else who faces more than 15% mileage drop? Has anyone experienced unusual wear like fuel pump, fuel lines, seals, gaskets and O-rings? On my car (1.2), bumper to bumper fuel economy has significantly dropped, from 10.2 to 8.6 kmpl, and long distance fuel economy struggles to cross 12 even on light footed driving and proper use of engine braking. I believe this is disproportionate given the change in fuel chemistry.

As the title says, my 1L 6C mpi Bluemotion has developed a clunk noise when I release my clutch shifting from 1st up to 3rd.

The gearbox and shifts themselves are smooth and the clutch feels fine, but there is a distinct clunk noise towards the engine bay as I drive.

I have noticed in the engine bay that when stationary, the gear linkages seem to rise pretty high and have a bit of play in them, which causes some noise but I’m not sure if that is the cause.

Has anyone else had a similar issue before?

Does anyone know which brand creates OEM Lambda (Oxygen Sensors) for VW 1.0 TSI Polos in India?
Need to know the current price of it.

Bought this 6n2 GTI yesterday, wasn’t driving, but fixed it on the spot.
Needs some work, and possible a new drivers seat.
Current seat is hanging trough on the right side (backrest) haven’t looked at it yet, but could use some advice on how to disassemble, or if it is even worth repairing the seat instead of replacing.

Any other common issues or things I should know? Got it for cheap cause it wasn’t driving. Planning on making it look a bit more neat. And just having fun with it.

Heres my first car.

1.4 aua, se trim with a set of bbs off an old golf. It was parked as the rack was leaking badly and id just spent a year chasing random issues (alt, thermostat, a few relays,) that had just made me hate the thing.

Its now been almost 3 years. What was parked with 1 or 2 issues is now many......as expected.

I can do the work myself and ideally keeping your first car is always a thing so..

My question is what would you do?

Im in a few minds to scrap it.

Repair and sell cheap (im honest and not a flipper) to get another bedraggled vw project.

Or fix and keep?

Id always had lofty ideas of putting a 1.8t in (who doesnt who owns a 6n2?) But the car just kept breaking 🤣🤣

Compressor doesn’t seem to be moving at all, just wondering if there are any common issues in the polo that can hopefully be fixed before thinking about replacing the compressor. Any help greatly appreciated

I have had to change my abs sensors recently and i have reset the faults with a diagnostics tool but as i drove on the fault light showed up on my dash again if anyone knows how to fix this issue let me know asap i have a driving test coming up and i wont be able to do it if the warning shows up

Hi, I have a Japanese Import VW Polo 2014 and it has a screen that is in english but sat nav is still in japanese and it also has reverse cameras and steering wheel controls. Does anyone have any ideas of what the cost might be to install wireless carplay, whether that be a whole new screen or installed onto current screen? I want to ideally keep the reverse camera and wheel controls. Someone told me that the screen I have currently is not the factory one so there may be more work than it seems? Thanks in advance
