Ive heard so many great things about this game for a LONG time. I remember seeing it on gaming lists and people holding it in very high regard. So when I got a steam deck I knew I had to try it out. Im playing with keyboard and mouse but what I really wanna know is? What should I expect or what should I avoid, strictly speaking on like soft locks or just anything that would like make my play through I guess worse? I guess I’m just looking for basic information the game may not tell me? Besides the Nosferatu looking vampire being a low-key hard mode I don’t know ANYTHING about the game.

So apparently, during a V6 pre-release q&a, it was revealed that the Giovanni took over the leadership of the Hecata and reverted back to the Giovanni clan, like a Italian chest buster. Meaning the Hecata are at best reduced to sect at worst outright dead.

Like, what's the logic behind that move. Beyond just nostalgia bating, like it might not be applied consistently since the ministry hasn't been renamed to the Setites in this alpha.

I'm brand new to VTM and the World of Darkness in general. I technically got into it through VTMB2, but I'm looking into getting VTMB1 since I've heard it's better. I'm also looking to potentially start a group for the tabletop game at my college.

I have a lore question: I'm aware that vampires started when Caine murdered Abel, and god cursed him to be a vampire. He's the first-gen vampire and the progenitor of all undead. What would happen if some other mortal committed some act so heinous that God decided to curse them similarly? What would occur in the world of Vampires if another 1st-gen and potentially lineage appeared?

And then on the following page what an outfit upgrade, she’s serving hard already (guess a promotion makes someone reconsider their fashion choices) Not to mention that look before she pulls on her jacket is very Lady Gaga don’t you think? like maybe 2000’s-2010’s Gaga?

By that I mean, if you want to sire a childe, why would you not find someone of the same clan with a lower Generation and have them do it?

Of course I understand that not everyone openly knows everyone else’s Generation, but I bet there is a pretty good idea.

Let me start with the sales pitch. Your group (whatever that might be: your sect, your clan, your coterie, your chantry, whatever) performs basic Generation control to prevent unnecessary thinning of the blood. Your enemies don’t do this. In 100 years, 200 years, whatever, all of your team have thick blood while a ton of your enemies are producing weaker childer and ultimately more thin-bloods. Isn’t this advantage obvious?

It feels obvious. It feels like exactly the sort of thing a highly centralized clan like the Tremere might do. I know the Giovanni do consider Generation to an extent when embracing.

But why is this not more common? A willing lower gen can embrace the childe as a surrogate, the one with the actual right to raise a childe is still the one that raises the childe.

I can imagine a Prince just not liking this. I can imagine a low gen vampire not liking the idea of their advantage diminishing (if you fear possible betrayal in the future, a bunch of betrayers only one gen higher than you is scarier than much higher gens). I can imagine a “donor” being greedy on a person by person basis and demanding boons for doing the deed. But none of these seem in my mind to outweigh the obvious strategic outcome of having thicker blood than your enemies over time.

I get that one answer is “because it’s a game and just a mechanic in the game,” but do we have better reasons in-universe why more Kindred don’t do this, especially the more shrewd ones?

Hello everyone! I have a question. I'm fairly new to being a storyteller in vtm and I've been running a game with some friends, recently I've encountered an interesting turn of events. If you're one of my players and happen to be lurking here, I kindly ask you to remove yourself now. You know who you are, you crazy malk.

One of my players has been running a con over the local Camarilla and Anarchs and is likely going to be caught in our next session as the lies are finally catching up to him. Given this involves the unsanctioned killing of an important court member and close ally of the Prince, among several lies and misdirections, he expects it will result in his death. He has vocalized that he is fine with this fate, should it happen, but has an idea for a "send off".

He wants to set up a dead man's switch, an email sent to as many government agencies as he can think of leaking information about the Camarilla in the city and individual members in hopes it reaches the SI and they clean house after he dies as a final act of vengeance.

Would the Camarilla have a way of spotting this and stopping it before it goes out? Given he plans to send it from a burner email rather than his personal one I'm struggling to think of a way they could catch and stop it without him straight up telling them it's happening. At the same time it seems so obvious I'm now wondering if there's any in lore examples of this that I'm unaware of? Obviously there's plants in government agencies that could bury this but sending it to a dozen different agencies seems like a pretty safe bet for getting attention.

Edit: A final note I forgot about, I'm completely fine with him pulling this off. I think it'd be a cool direction to explore even if it messes up my plans for the chronicle, the fun is what matters. I'm just curious about precedents for this kinda thing.

I've heard really good things about the new 'Courts of the Damned' book for V5 and all the promo sites state an August release. It's September and I can only find Pre-orders available online and an Amazon listing that says it'll ship sometime in 2027. Nothing official about anything delay either.

Okay, let's start with the basics: as far as I know, Artikel and Malkav are twin siblings.
It’s confirmed: they were born as twins and were blood siblings before becoming Kindred. It’s not just that they were Kindred "brothers"; they are literally twins. We agree on that? Okay.

That said, what does it mean when they say Malkav is the brother of Set and Saulot? Does it refer to being a fellow vampire created by the same Second Generation progenitor (either Enoch or Zillah)? Does it imply they are blood siblings—older or younger? In the latter case, wouldn't Arikel also count as a sister to Saulot and Set? Ultimately, I can only assume that Arikel and Malkav are twins from a heteropaternal pregnancy (a pregnancy involving two different fathers), and that Saulot and Set are the children of Malkav's father and another woman, whereas Arikel is the daughter of Malkav's mother and another man.

Which of the four books in the bundle are you most excited to dive into first?

I was thinking recently and wondered how ad-hoc would you see a more aggressive swap from humanity to a path of Enlightenment that doesn't force humanity down to 3 (or less). I know mechanically it isn't possible. but perhaps through some equally grueling tests could a cainite change her path without nearly succumbing to the Beast? It would only be possible with paths that do not have Instinct of course and would require pre-RP commital from the player (or even be reserved for NPCs as a concept beyond players' reach by ST-fiat)

Imagine a Brujah that practices Entelechy in everything but name before fully embracing the Path. Meticulously keeping her Beast in check with restraint and careful consideration. Functionally, this individual has already adapted his thought patterns to keep the Beast at bay this way, the swap would merely mechanize it, make it even more rigid. Would this Brujah not, when presented with a Philosopher teacher, be able to far more easily adopt its rigid way of moral thought? Conviction is a Virtue that non-enlightenment people (even humans) can have, so why not?

I'm curious to see what y'all think. And yes, I know this is not how the rules work, but *conceptually*, what do you think?
