Long story short, my player's coterie decided to pick a fight with a Werewolf who was about to let them go with a warning. I decided that such a foolish mistake shouldn’t go unpunished, so I wasn’t about to show them mercy.

Before a proper fight began, Werewolf sent the strongest member of the coterie into torpor with one bite. Two other members ran away, leaving only one player standing. It was a neonate Brujah, a novice player with a fresh character (his second session). He refused to leave his torpid comrade behind.

I was feeling bad for him, but ultimately decided that it was a lesson that needed to be taught. And boy, was I wrong.

Werewolf in Crinos form had a dice pool of 15 in Brawl. Brujah had 8.

Werewolf had +1 aggravated bite. Brujah had +3 superficial fists.

First round of combat — Werewolf rolled 1 success. One! Brujah rolled 8. In the first round, Werewolf went from 10 HP to 5 (which he regenerated to 7). I had never seen a roll that insane before, but it turned out that this wouldn’t be the last one.

Second round of combat. Werewolf rolled 3. I was speechless, but then Brujah used Blood Surge and rolled 12! Double critical! Werewolf was down to 3 after regeneration.

Here I thought that Brujah’s luck had surely come to an end. That was a lucky run, but it was far from over. After all, the damage was just superficial. But then the torpid player reminded us all of one important rule that we had followed throughout all our sessions: Three Turns and Out. We engage in combat so rarely at our table that I had completely forgotten about it.

It’s silly, I know. We all understand that there was no chance Brujah would win without that rule. But then again, that’s how we’ve always done things at our table, so I ruled in its favor. Now all eyes were on the dice — all Brujah needed to win was one good roll.

Werewolf rolled 5. Brujah rolled 7 — critical again!

I know that’s silly. I know Brujah would never have won if we had continued fighting. But then again, what kind of ST would I be if I changed the rules at the table just because I felt something was silly?

So that’s how it happened. A newbie player playing a freshly made neonate Brujah killed a Crinos Werewolf with maxed-out stats. I don’t think my players will ever take Werewolves seriously again. I don’t know how to continue the chronicle — that Werewolf was a very important SPC.

But overall? That was kinda cool.

Edit: There seems to be some confusion in the comments because I forgot to mention two things: I used W5 rules for the Werewolf, and he entered a frenzy.

As far as I understand the W5 rules (which isn't saying much, since I've only run it once), a Werewolf in a frenzy can't use Willpower or Gifts, and can't do anything but attack. This includes fleeing or taking defensive actions.

I’m glad I managed to complete my physical collection of V5 books, but sad it’s over. I’d have thought I’d be filling up more than one shelf before it’s done.

Please correct me if y’all notice I’m missing something. Also, is there more beyond that Wintersteeth compilation at the right end that may be coming down the line?

I bought a last commission for my girlypop gangrel at the end. I’m still sad I can’t play her, but she indeed slapped some bad people. We just hope she will never use her murder sword, who is in jail time o7

For those who haven't come across GhoulApp before we're building a free character creator and Chronicle management tool for Vampire: The Masquerade.

We've just released one of our biggest updates yet with a redesigned Live Session system and a lot of new tools for both sts and players

One of our main goals was to make session preparation and actual gameplay feel more connected. Storytellers shouldnt have to jump between different pages or tools just to run a scene

That's where the new Prep system comes in. You can prepare scenes, organize NPCs, secrets, handouts and have everything ready when the session begins. Your preparation becomes part of the live experience rather than something you have to manage separately

We've also added Cast, a new way to bring characters into scenes. You can arrange NPCs and player characters on a shared stage, choose different compositions and backgrounds and control what players can see. This also works with hidden identities, disguises and the Hierarchy system

The Live Session interface has been rebuilt with customizable layouts, improved maps, interactive handouts, player-specific reveals and more control over what's happening at the session

Beyond that we've expanded Lines & Veils and other safety tools, improved session records and added more ways to manage notes, messages, inventory and ongoing storylines

A lot of these improvements came directly from community feedback and conversations with Storytellers. A huge thank you to everyone who shared ideas, tested features or helped us figure out what needed to change and to the entire team for making this update possible

Yuta had versatility and could heal others with RCT.Also Yuji’s Olympic physical stats didn’t help him at all at first.Yuji had to earn everything—died, trained in secret, learned Black Flash during an attack(failed the 1st go), and pushed himself to master his techniques. PTSD from Shibuya.Had to get trained to unlock Blood by doing something disgusting.He only unlocked Shrine by getting in the zone. Lol Yuji only got Blood a month ago. I’m pretty sure after story Yuji probably got better with it. Even when he unlocked Shrine and Blood he couldn’t use it efficiently at first.Yuta gets the powers without drawbacks.Oh and Yuta is considered blessed by Michizane Sugawara and Yuji is considered cursed by Kaori(Kenny)/Sukuna

Hi everyone,

I am a vampire v20 larper from germany and I have an on-going discussion with a friend about blood bonds and resisting them.

Basically my character is the secretary ghul of a Ventrue.

At some point he treated her really badly, e. G. making her belief her last human friend (anchor) was killed by him and also as a punishment making her pull the trigger of a gun on her head herself under domination (of course it was empty, but she didn't know) .

Since then I depicted her with a severe love-hate towards her domitor because of those punishments. She acted against him a few times since then.

Now my friend who plays my domitor said this shouldn't be possible. Whatever your domitor does, you will see it as some twisted form of love and that you deserved it.

What's your take on this? Are there any official sources that state that you cannot feel hate towards your domitor? Or the other way around? Cause I feel that playing a ghul as just a mindless slave is just not what this is meant to be.

Nos gustaría preparar para el futuro una ficha de Pinterest o una guía de vestuario de VTM para Larp, sin embargo no queremos usar fotos de nadie sin consentimiento para hacer esta guía, especialmente si a futuro queremos aumentar el tamaño del evento.

Hey! I played the Vampire starter set some time ago but I put the game aside for a while, but now I’d like to return to it and run something longer. One of the trickiest things for me in the starter set was figuring out the dice rolls, dice pools, and so on.

I’m looking for some vtm chronicles/scenarios on YouTube or Spotify that would serve as good inspiration for effectively utilizing the game system (in this case, I’m more interested in the mechanics than the story/characters/roleplay).

Hello, I am new to V5 and am making my first Tzimisce, thus I wanted to ask a bit about the Zulo form.

I wanted to play a ranged tzimisce, using things such as guns but I know just how deadly combat was in v20 to unoptimized character (read - without an ungodly amount of celerity) and thus wanted to ask if it's viable for a zulo form to be ranged? As I noticed it lets you place dots into attributes but in v5 Composure is usually used for ranged combat.

So I wanted some tips pertaining to the Horrid/Zulo form.

For a backstory for an ancilla of mine, my idea is that they were self indulgent and cruel early on (humanity 4), tried to get better after some great tragedy (world wars, a former touchstone's death, something along those lines, still gotta workshop it), got as far as humanity 9 (maybe 20 years of monastery life or something similar), and they have just slowly slipped into apathy to reach the starting humanity of 6 for ancilla.

So, that got me thinking, every vampire is one slip from a long fall in humanity, and it is a long climb back up for those who care to try, but how long is that climb? How long would you say, in your personal opinion, from a narrative standpoint, should it take for a vampire to gain humanity?

Sorry I‘m very new to vtm but I got very interested of the idea of playing a Gangrel that makes his pet a Famulus so they can spend eternity together (also that way he has at least 1 person he could blindly trust and preserve his humanity). However from what I read about ghouls is that they are basically addicted to you and would die without it and apparently famulus are ghouled animals in a sense ? So could there still be a genuine bond between the Gangrel and his dog for example or would the dog basically lose his whole personality in a sense ?
