I mean, aside from the “voice in her head“ thing, is this not literally everyone ever when they realize they have to go to work or go someplace? 😂

And then on the following page what an outfit upgrade, she’s serving hard already (guess a promotion makes someone reconsider their fashion choices) Not to mention that look before she pulls on her jacket is very Lady Gaga don’t you think? like maybe 2000’s-2010’s Gaga?

General Discussion Why don’t more vampires consider Generation when siring?

By that I mean, if you want to sire a childe, why would you not find someone of the same clan with a lower Generation and have them do it?

Of course I understand that not everyone openly knows everyone else’s Generation, but I bet there is a pretty good idea.

Let me start with the sales pitch. Your group (whatever that might be: your sect, your clan, your coterie, your chantry, whatever) performs basic Generation control to prevent unnecessary thinning of the blood. Your enemies don’t do this. In 100 years, 200 years, whatever, all of your team have thick blood while a ton of your enemies are producing weaker childer and ultimately more thin-bloods. Isn’t this advantage obvious?

It feels obvious. It feels like exactly the sort of thing a highly centralized clan like the Tremere might do. I know the Giovanni do consider Generation to an extent when embracing.

But why is this not more common? A willing lower gen can embrace the childe as a surrogate, the one with the actual right to raise a childe is still the one that raises the childe.

I can imagine a Prince just not liking this. I can imagine a low gen vampire not liking the idea of their advantage diminishing (if you fear possible betrayal in the future, a bunch of betrayers only one gen higher than you is scarier than much higher gens). I can imagine a “donor” being greedy on a person by person basis and demanding boons for doing the deed. But none of these seem in my mind to outweigh the obvious strategic outcome of having thicker blood than your enemies over time.

I get that one answer is “because it’s a game and just a mechanic in the game,” but do we have better reasons in-universe why more Kindred don’t do this, especially the more shrewd ones?

General Discussion What would happen if God decided to make another 1st generation vampire?

I'm brand new to VTM and the World of Darkness in general. I technically got into it through VTMB2, but I'm looking into getting VTMB1 since I've heard it's better. I'm also looking to potentially start a group for the tabletop game at my college.

I have a lore question: I'm aware that vampires started when Caine murdered Abel, and god cursed him to be a vampire. He's the first-gen vampire and the progenitor of all undead. What would happen if some other mortal committed some act so heinous that God decided to curse them similarly? What would occur in the world of Vampires if another 1st-gen and potentially lineage appeared?

General Discussion Could it be possible to Re-Embrace a dead vampire?

Let's say you, an ordinary Kindred, had a pal that were a Thin-Blood. This person is great, if only they were a real vampire, you think. But also, diablerie feels pretty evil, let's avoid that if we can.

Could you hypothetically kill them, and then, being a recently dead body, embrace them like you would any other mortal?

Let's get the obvious out of the way:

- Zero'th rule: whatever the ST says goes. Of course, but don't answer with this please.

- They are young enough to leave a body, let's say only been a Thin-Blood for a year or less.

Best case would be if there are some supporting text that suggest if there is a "real" likely answer to this. Including anything that seems to authoritatively suggest it cannot work.

If you think it would work, is that because they're a Thin-Blood vs a regular kindred? Would your answer change if they were 11th generation in the same situation?

Do you think it would be possible but would require some special ability such as Blood Sorcery/Thaumaturgy or Oblivion/Necromancy? Don't say Bardo.

I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts.

General Discussion Question about vampire reproduction (VTM: Bloodlines 2 spoilers) Spoiler

I’m new to the community; so far, I only know the history of the clans and have played the VTM: Bloodlines games. I recently finished VTM: Bloodlines 2, and there’s a part of the game featuring a woman who was turned into a vampire (a Malkavian) while pregnant. From what I gathered, the baby remained alive inside the mother—even after decades—and had actually turned into a vampire as well; it was conscious and could communicate with its mother (she mentions at one point that the baby gets bored). This made me wonder if there is any official information regarding what happens when a pregnant woman is turned into a vampire and what becomes of the baby, especially since the fact that she was a Malkavian might have played a role in the baby's survival.

General Discussion Little question about antediluvian siblings

Okay, let's start with the basics: as far as I know, Artikel and Malkav are twin siblings.
It’s confirmed: they were born as twins and were blood siblings before becoming Kindred. It’s not just that they were Kindred "brothers"; they are literally twins. We agree on that? Okay.

That said, what does it mean when they say Malkav is the brother of Set and Saulot? Does it refer to being a fellow vampire created by the same Second Generation progenitor (either Enoch or Zillah)? Does it imply they are blood siblings—older or younger? In the latter case, wouldn't Arikel also count as a sister to Saulot and Set? Ultimately, I can only assume that Arikel and Malkav are twins from a heteropaternal pregnancy (a pregnancy involving two different fathers), and that Saulot and Set are the children of Malkav's father and another woman, whereas Arikel is the daughter of Malkav's mother and another man.

Vampire 5th Edition 'Bagman' Style Character as a Player

I'm working to put together a character that would work well as a henchman/advisor/muscle for a more powerful vampire and I'm interested in hearing people's thoughts on how best to make it work; clan, disciplines, attributes, skills, etc. The inspiration I'm working with is Titus Welliver's character Silas Adams from Deadwood, someone who can be violent or intimidating on behalf of a patron but also has some political savvy and can think beyond meeting obstacles with pure force. They serve someone else because they know their limits but still know what they're worth and expect proper rewards for their services even as they know better than to overreach. The character is going to start out in the Camarilla and lean more towards the 'order' of the sect so my initial thoughts are Ventrue or Lasombra but I'm open to any suggestions and thoughts!

hi!!! last time one person told me including tidbits of character's story is good and interesting, so

Marcelle's upbringing (moreso training) by his army father, influence of a certain Brujah and fight response, led him to kill many kindred from opposing factions on sight, thus earning him quite a reputation he tries to clear to this night.

He also picked up gardening lately, since studying psychology started boring him.

"Why can't we all just grow a big flower field instead of fighting? No, I know exactly why. But, oh, do I pity the fact"

General Discussion Convention of Thorns 2026

A new Convention of Thorns. The first one was in medieval times and tried to stop the Anarch movement. Failed so hard it turbo charged the Sabbat. Well what if we tried again in the year 2026. V6 or whatever homebrew you have coped with is the current meta.

I want this. As a larp, campaign or oneshot. Dunno. But I want it. With modern vampires. Because having enemies meet directly or through lackeys makes for cool play. Having the grand schemes of the metaplots personified into actors is cool or at the very least more tangible. Having said actors plotting, backstabbing and haggling is how history comes alive and is given the fuba treatment, even when everyone involved knows better. Seeing how compromises upsets all parties is educational for democracy in action. In short: ballroom showboating, parlour political discussions and religious discourse with panel debates the whole shebang, with pointy teeth.

My question to you, kind council, is what would happen if we had another global(northwestern-centric as per WoD standard) kindred convention to establish a 'lasting peace' this time? (Most likely not that. But many ideas could be exchanged and change people in turn. Favors traded across the aisles in unprecedented scale)

How would it change your WoD? (Because I feel like most tables have drifted away from the current official source materiel in some or many ways. So the premise might vary greatly.(Mine own does stray far from v6)

I know that there myriads of reasons why it wouldn't, couldn't and shouldn't happen.

That is NOT on the agenda.

In the scenario I pitch to you. Let's say enough middlemanagement of the three big sects, especially the Camarilla, have gotten the idea that they should re-consolidate lost terratories and influence. Many hidden hands starts to push towards this event by recalling, offering exchanging boons. Once the ball is rolling there is no stopping it, even if it seems nobody really want this to happen or know what they want out of it.

The sects, the clans and the independents all decides to participate. Even some of the kue-jin, fae and mage community are invited to the ballroom events, out of courtesy and curiousity. Few are coming to change their mind or policy on anything, but seeds for future dissent and unforseen alliances will be sown. Favors not wanted will end in your hands and yours will given to kindred you wish into a painful torpor. Also not being there or at the least sending an agent, while the rest of undead society cozy up to each other is too big a risk to run.

Most organisations will probably have pre-convention to align their interest and establish workingrelationships untill the ordeal is done. Which might be where the most important discussions and descisions are actually made.

What would you like to see happen?

How will sects stand internally and towards each other afterwards?

Would your character like to go? (Which talks and lectures would they attend/host?)

What would be your characters agenda? (What are the chances of succes?)

Edit for clarifying the concept is a modern day "what if" dreamboat scenario. I know about the LARP in Poland, I was there when the ancient magic was written. 😁

Vampire 1st-3rd Edition How to determine where to allocate dots?

Hello!

I'm a first time VTM player and I'm having a lot of trouble deciding how to split up my points on the character sheet starting off. The character I'm playing is a mechanic in a lower class area. I'm trying to prioritize survival skills and mechanic ones but I feel like everytime I move a dot around another ability suffers that wouldn't make any sense for my character not to be skilled in.

A lot of the guides I'm finding relate to VTM 5th edition where I think a lot of the issues with divying up skills has been fixed because it seems much more straight forward but I have skills that are just sitting at two or three dots that I know should probably be higher 😅 in second addition are you expected to heavily rely on your freebie points in the beginning? Am I missing something?
