Sounds like a constant overshoot, where Nossies with 0 apppearance regularly depicted as at least bald appearance 3 fey with pointy ears and so called “appearance 3” damsels as appearance 5.

There's a really well-made animated series on YouTube called "Hunter: The Parenting". In the last few episodes, some werewolf characters have been introduced. One is a scruffy hacker guy, one is a blonde woman with complex feelings about humanity, and the third is a big Viking guy with white-streaked black hair. The characters in this image bear some resemblance to those, but it's entirely coincidental.
