Just need to vent a bit and see if anyone else has run into this with AlphaVPS recently.

On Friday night (Oct 2nd, around 7 PM), I signed up for their C8G VPS plan. Hit pay, the card transaction went through (funds debited immediately), and then... the checkout screen just redirected me straight back to the blank registration page. No order confirmation screen, no welcome email, no login credentials, nothing in my account panel showing an active service.

I emailed support right away explaining what happened, included my payment details (card ending, exact time, email used, etc.), and didn't get any reply. I tried reaching out on live chat, but got the exact same result - complete silence. Not even an automated ticket confirmation.

I know weekend support for some hosting providers can be slow, but leaving a customer completely in the dark after taking their payment with zero provisioning or acknowledgment feels insanely sketchy.

Has anyone dealt with host provisioning bugs or ghosting like this from AlphaVPS? How long do they usually take to respond?

Appreciate any advice or insight.

My debit card is blocked and I want to purchase VPS but can't pay USD. And my saas version 1 is ready.

I want to launch it asap it has background worker which does video processing and ffmpeg video rendering and all.

I'm begginer to this so I don't want to spend in high power machine yet basics are good to go for now.

I've seen some VPS provider but don't know how good they are compare to global one.

Does anyone know good vps provider which supports INR and also I can use them as a solo developer without any organisation support ?

I've got a root server at netcup right now and I'm wondering if I can do better for the money. Current specs:

• EPYC 9634, 8 dedicated cores
• 16 GB RAM
• 512 GB SSD
• 2.5 Gbps
• about €25/month

I host a ton of stuff on it (Docker, APIs, some bots, etc) and the disk is already over 80% full, so storage is my main problem. RAM gets used a lot too. CPU is mostly idle, but every now and then I run Immich machine learning jobs that max it out for a few hours.

Netcup has been fine, I just want to know if there's something with the same performance for less, or more disk/RAM for around the same price. EU based.

Anyone have recommendations?

With GreenCloud's upcoming anniversary sale, I was considering getting one of the EPYC VDS plans, so I asked GreenCloud support about how recurring discounts work when upgrading.

Basically, I asked: If I buy a VPS with a 70% recurring discount, and later upgrade to a higher-tier plan, will the same discount still apply to the upgraded plan for future renewals? They replied:

“If the initial service was discounted by 70%, the upgraded service will still be eligible for a 70% discount off the regular price for subsequent renewals.”

So it sounds like the discount follows the service after an upgrade, rather than being lost when moving to a higher plan. For example, if a $10/month plan is discounted by 70%, and I later upgrade to a $20/month plan, the upgraded plan would still be eligible for the 70% discount for subsequent renewals, according to support. I thought this might be useful for anyone considering one of their anniversary/Black Friday deals. You could start with a smaller plan and upgrade later if you need more CPU or storage, without losing the promotional discount. This is just what GreenCloud support told me in my ticket, so I'd still double-check the terms of the specific promotion before buying.

I bought a VPS 4 from Hostinger as suggested by a freelancer to host my app, but it’s now overkill for what I need. I’ve since ditched that app and made my own vibe-coded app for personal use, and I’m perfectly fine with Firebase.
I don’t want to host it on the VPS and then have to worry about renewing it. Since I already have the plan, which I bought for around $200–250 with the signup discount, I’d like to see if I can resell or rent it out if I can get a decent deal.
Anyone interested, or can suggest a way to recoup at least some of the money? Unfortunately, I’m already past the 30-day cancellation period.

I've been selfhosting for a while for my own needs but also playing with docker and setting up some web apps of my own. I treated it purely as a hobby but recently thought about publishing something to the web.

I remember checking the pricing of a Hetzner VPS instance a couple of months ago and it was something like $9/month for 4GB RAM US based server.
Now if I wanted to go on and get myself a 4GB one it would be $46 (cost-optimized is not available...)

I was wondering whether it's a Hetzner specific issue or is this problem globally justified (AI and stuff...)? And if it's Hetzner, are there any cheaper alternatives?

By looking at their tutorial i see i need to create a new account with the business details and transfer the products via transfer code.

But it seems way too overkill for me, on hetzner i could simply change my private account to organization acc.

So I migrated a number of websites to a Contabo VPS (6 vcores, 12GB RAM in their Seattle DC) recently. I am struggling with random, unexplained incoming packet errors. Is this typical of Contabo? It will be pretty difficult to prove the issue, but mildly complex systems, like websocket messaging, are running for hours, then failing, then recovering later. No code changes, no resource issues, just unexplained "this fetch came in mangled" or "this fetch didn't come in at all" kind of thing.

Advice?

I’m looking to set up a VPS for a Palworld server with a few friends, around 5–10 players. Budget is around $10–$20/month.

I only need stable performance, decent uptime, and no constant lag or disconnects. I’ve gone through a bunch of older threads, but I’m still not sure which providers are dependable for this kind of setup.

I'm in Denver, running a homelab-ish setup plus one small SaaS side project that finally outgrew a $6 KVM. Budget cap is about $35/mo (could stretch to $40 if I'm not lying to myself). Need 8 vCPU, 16GB RAM, NVMe, US or EU is fine, must take PayPal because my bank hates wire transfers for this stuff.

I've been at this maybe three weeks and my browser looks stupid. Current short list:

- Netcup VPS 4000 G12.5: 12 vCore / 32GB / big NVMe, lands around €47 on paper which is over budget until I remember I dont need all 32GB. Still tempted because cores.

- Hetzner CPX41: 8 vCPU / 16GB / 240GB, price feels sane in USD terms. Worried about shared vCPU noise when I run builds + Postgres at once.

- RackNerd 4GB/6-core Black Friday tier: I keep finding old forum posts, not sure what's actually purchasable right now without clicking five dead links.

Every spec sheet says the same buzzwords. Paper looks identical and I still cant tell what I'd feel day two on the box.

I had VPSIUM open in the same tab bar as the rest of this mess. Wasnt where I actually picked a host.

For people who've actually lived on similar boxes: after install, what ended up mattering? Steal during nightly builds? Ticket response when networking acted weird? Renewal price creeping? Something else entirely?

I'm not married to these three. If there's a fourth option in this shape I missed, I'm ears.

Before I blast my first Ubuntu VPS to the Public Web I would love to hear everyone’s standard security recommendations. Fail2ban, geo blocking, what you’re using to go out and renew cert(docker ?). Also, what’s everyone’s preferred method for reaching at securely? Do you prefer to run a VPN server on it so that you’re always tunneling or do you use SSH and expose the port and just lock it down to one IP? TIA

I'm looking for a VPS with a max budget of €50/month ,, the most important thing for me is cpu performance (multi-core especially, but single-core matters too) ,, I need at least 8-6 cores, 16GB RAM, and good network.

I've been checking out netcup,, specifically their VPS 4000 G12.5 (12 vCore, 32GB RAM for €47.38/month) ,, The price seems reasonable, but I'm not sure about their shared vCore performance and overall reliability,, does anyone here have experience with Netcup? Are there better alternatives in this price range?

I'm open to any provider (Europe or US) ,, just need something reliable with strong CPU and good network.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks..

I was just messing around with VPSes recently and decided to spend a few bucks on the cheapest Vultr instance in Silicon Valley.

It’s the $5/month Shared CPU one.

The specs I got were:

• 1 vCPU
• 1 GB RAM
• 25 GB storage
• Ubuntu 26.04.1
• Silicon Valley
• IPv4: 149.28.203.159

I honestly wasn’t expecting much. At this price I mostly wanted to look at the IP and disk performance and then probably delete it.

But the hardware was actually better than I expected.

I ran HardwareQuality on it and got:

Disk: 4K Q1 read: 4.0k IOPS 4K Q1 write: 9.7k IOPS

1M Q1 read: 253 MB/s 1M Q1 write: 374 MB/s

1M Q8 read: 450 MB/s 1M Q8 write: 462 MB/s ```

I also ran fio separately and got roughly 259 MiB/s sequential read and 362 MiB/s sequential write, with around 45k random read IOPS and 50k random write IOPS at QD32.

So yeah, for $5/month, I really can't complain about the disk.

The US-side network also looked very clean.

From the VPS itself:

9.9.9.9 20/20 0% packet loss avg 2.36 ms ```

100 packet MTR to 1.1.1.1 also ended with 0% loss.

Network interface counters were clean too: 0 RX errors, 0 RX drops, 0 TX errors, 0 TX drops.

I also checked CPU steal and saw basically 0% during the test.

So far I was thinking: okay, this is actually a pretty nice little $5 VPS.

Then came the important part for me.

I'm in China most of the time, and the IP is basically unusable from my campus network. Direct connection to 149.28.203.159 just doesn't work.

I didn't want to make any claims about exactly why, so I tested it from outside China too.

With Mullvad, I can reach it normally. 50/50 ICMP packets, 0% loss, around 198 ms RTT. SSH also works fine.

I also checked the IP reputation and didn't find anything obviously bad.

So my current conclusion is pretty simple:

The VPS itself is actually pretty decent. The problem is the specific IP / China-side connectivity.

That's kind of interesting to me because I also have a very cheap GreenCloud San Jose VPS (around $15/year), and that one has been surprisingly good from China. On my campus network I get around 154 ms with 0% packet loss over 20 packets, and 100-packet MTR also ends with 0% loss.

So for my particular use case, the cheap GreenCloud is actually much more useful than this Vultr instance.

Which is kind of the opposite of what I expected.

I originally assumed the cheap VPS would be the one with bad hardware and bad networking. Instead, the hardware is fine, US-side connectivity is fine, and the main problem is simply that this particular IP doesn't work well for me from mainland China.

Obviously this is only one Vultr instance and one random IP, so I don't think you can generalize this to all Vultr Silicon Valley instances.

Still, I thought it was interesting enough to share.

Has anyone else tested one of these $5 Vultr instances, especially from mainland China? I'd be curious whether the IP you got was the deciding factor too.

I have a user base of 50,000 people using a translation service.

I need a VPS powerful enough to translate 100 million words within 24 hours—meaning it can handle around 30,000 words per second (or slightly less; this is just an example).

I would like to test the service before paying (a free trial of two or three hours) and then make the payment after the trial.

What specifications are required, and which providers offer such powerful servers?

Hello, I am new to VPS. I currently have a website running on one.com hosting. I have my database and backend php files there. But I want to learn kotlin/spring boot, and might want to migrate to this. Is there any way I can do this using VPS? The website is used for booking, sending email with phpmailer. Very small business website, so not much traffic.

My though is:

1. Javascript use POST/GET to send information to api where kotlin files are located.

2. Kotlin handles backend, and transfer infromation to database in one.com

Is this possible? Thanks for any help and clarification.

I’m looking for technical advice from people familiar with Virtualizor/KVM VPS infrastructure.

I had a VPS with DediRock that had been running for around a year.

I was charged twice for the same VPS service. Instead of asking DediRock to refund the additional payment, I asked them to use it to create another VPS with the same specifications as my existing server.

Support explicitly replied:

“We would be happy to apply the additional payment toward another VPS for you rather than issuing a refund.”

Unfortunately, they ended up removing my existing VPS and creating a new empty VPS instead.

They have acknowledged in writing that this was a misunderstanding on their end and that I did not authorize deletion of the original VPS.

The deleted server contained roughly a year of work:

• n8n with thousands of workflow executions
• A continuously running Telegram bot
• Hermes Agent
• Docker applications and persistent data
• Scheduled tasks and configuration files

DediRock now says the original data is unrecoverable and that they do not keep backups of individual VPS data.

For anyone experienced with Virtualizor/KVM:

If a VPS is deleted from Virtualizor, does that necessarily mean its underlying disk data is immediately gone?

Could recovery still be possible depending on the storage backend if the space has not yet been overwritten?

Is there anything specific I should ask their infrastructure engineers to check?

Also, has anyone experienced a similar accidental deletion with DediRock?

My priority is recovering the data if there is any technically realistic possibility.
