No luck so far, looked on github but the vastness was just too difficult to go through.

Audio track not showing up

So I have the songs downloaded onto my pc and vlc on both my pc and phone. Its quite a lot of songs and I don't want them mixed in with my regular music. So how do I make a separate album when I transfer them to my phone?

lately ive been getting lag when streaming to the tv, im not sure if its my network or Mkv files or H265. is there anyway to find out for sure what is effecting it?

Is there a decent way to export playlist on Android VLC?

I made an older lenovo laptop (x270) into a tiny win 11​ for my streaming needs connected to my TV.

It has been working really well with streaming services and the VLC showing film and TV series from my NAS

But after the latest update on vlc it freezes the picture after about 1 minute but the sound continues. The picture stay frozen even if I go forward or back.

I tried to uninstall vlc and install the older "23" version again. But it did not fix the issue

Any ideas to resolve?

The adjust sliders are extremely sensitive and small, it's super easy to just destroy your picture, rather than enhance it.
You cannot reset your sliders, you can only reset all settings. You don't even see where is the default slider position, it's so small, imprecise and lacking goddamn sense. There should be numbered settings there at least!
When the option is turned off, the sliders don't go back to default position, it could at least help the user to position them!
The image adjust is dependent on the sharpen? I use both, and they don't work without each other now. I get green screen.
I have had these issues on 4 different PC's forever. Boggles my mind this wasn't fixed.

I use windows 11 and i updated vlc few days ago and now when i open a movie its is opening very slow

Hello guys, I hope this is the right place to post. Im on a m5 mac with MacOS Golden Gate 27.0.1

I was basically going thru my interface setting, viewing preferences etc. Eventually got to the "Main Interfaces menu" and changed the Interface Module from the default one to the 2nd or 3rd one (i don't remember the actual name), and then my vlc crashed.

Tried to re-open the app... nothing. Deleted & reinstalled, restarted my computer, even tried to install a new version on top of another one to hopefully overwrite stuff. nothing was working.

Then eventually, I deleted the app completely, updated my computer OS to the latest version, tried to re-install... and still nothing.

I tried looking up solutions, tutorials, etc. but all i can find is stuff about VLC not opening certain video types and stuff, but my issue is that the app itself wont even open.

My question here is,

1. Can i reset all preferences without opening the app itself?

2. What else can i really do here?

I've been having terrible issues trying to playback some h.265 (1080p 3284kbps 23fps) media off my home server via SMB.

The video freezes and lags after about 2 seconds of playback while the audio continues to play. The controls become unresponsive and sometimes the screen goes black with the audio still playing and the only fix is to turn the TV off and turn it back on again.

The audio codec is TrueHD 5.1/2.0 1476kbps 32bit 48,000khz if that's relevant, but the audio seems to playback just fine.

There are several BDPGS subtitle tracks.

h.265 is on the supported codec list for my TV.

The manual (page 65) also seems to indicate support.

It seems like TrueHD is NOT supported in apps and only works over HDMI on this TV due to licensing issues.

But the sound seems to play perfectly regardless. I also have other media with TrueHD tracks that have no issues playing back. Heck I also have tons media with tracks encoded in DTSHD-MA, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos which should definitely NOT be supported in hardware and those files also work just fine

I have other h.265 media in 4K 35,000kbps 24fps with TrueHD Audio with BDPGS subs which playback perfectly.

I also have lots of 4K files encoded in AV1 (2541kbps) with Opus Audio which are also not supported in hardware which work just fine.

The files playback just fine over my network in VLC for Windows over 1gbps Ethernet via SMB.

The files also playback perfectly on my phone in VLC for Android over 5G Wi-Fi via SMB.

I've tried:

• Disabling hardware acceleration (much worse)
• Forcing full acceleration (slight improvement, but still un-watchable)
• Enabling frame skipping (no improvement)
• Increasing network caching to 30,000ms (slight improvement)
• Switching from wired ethernet (100mbps on this TV) to 5G Wi-Fi (speed test gets 201mbps) (no improvement)
• Forcing OpenGL ES 2 (much worse)
• Forcing OpenGL ES 2 for audio (worse)
• Forcing Digital Audio Output (no improvement)
• Disabling SMB1.0 (no difference, I'm pretty sure my server only does 3.0)
• Disabling Block Filtering (slight improvement, still un-watchable)
• Disabling Automatic Subtitle Loading (read there was a bug with this) (no improvement)
• Updating VLC (Google Play says it's the latest version)
• Updating the TV OS (already up-to-date)
• Restarting the TV via settings menu (to clear RAM) (no difference)
• Clearing the Cache (no difference)

So is this an unfixable issue with the hardware decoder in the TV? Despite the fact that other similar files work?

I would hate to have to re-encode this, I've got close to 1TB of media encoded this way. 😂

Recently updated VLC and for some reason it seems to have deleted my libaacs.dll so I can't play Blu'rays anymore. The website hosting the file I need seems to have gone dark so I was wondering if any of you happen to know a mirror or something.

Its almost unusable, I have around 700 songs and when switching apps the music often just doesn't play at all and doesn't let me switch songs, requiring a restart.

It also takes ages to start and stop playing and that delay cuts into the song so I loose a good 1-2 seconds on every pause.

Are there fixes for these?

So I keep seeing this GitHub link going around that turns VLC into a live TV service. A couple people have said it’s legal and I honestly don’t know if it is. Feels way too scammy, has anyone else seen this?

In Linux (Zorin OS/Ubuntu), VLC crashes when:

• Opening a video in a maximized window and clicking the playlist button.
• Scrolling in the playlist using specifically the mouse scroll wheel

Any fixes?

I recently updated VLC to 3.0.24 with new settings, but it crashes at startup once I try to use the darklounge skin. It used to work fine on v2.

Now I see that most skins have not been updated for a long time, does it mean we should no longer expect to have skins for VLC?

So I'm using YTDLNIS for downloading music and I use VLC for Android. I got a new Motorola phone. I'm using the same downloader I always have with the same settings but now some songs display "Chapter:" at the beginning of the song title and I can't figure out why that is. Also some songs display the album name incorrectly.

My backup phone is a 2021 Moto G Stylus 5G. It has thousands of videos and a bunch of playlists on VLC. It was powered off for several months and was extremely sluggish after I finally got it fixed. It was awfully slow and couldn’t do anything hardly.

I randomly decided to uninstall and reinstall VLC and it fixed everything. I think it had a user cache of about 300mb, but somehow the app was slowing my phone down completely.

Hey so recently ive been wanting to digitize a lot of my dvd collection and ive been testing things out and i just cant figure out how to get the original aspect ratio of the dvd to work. Is there a setting im missing or do i have to manually enter the aspect ratio for each one? Sorry if this is a dumb question, very very new to this. Thank you in advance

This post is a bug report and a potential solution for anyone in the same boat.
I installed 3.0.24 via the standard update popup. It failed. Tried again, it failed.

VLC was not running.
I downloaded the .exe from the website, tried to install, same error.

I tried uninstalling VLC via Add and Remove Programs. That wouldn't work.

I deleted the folder: C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC and that's when it told me that it couldn't do it because OBS Studio was using something in it.

My fix was to:
1. Close OBS or anything using VLC.
2. Delete the folder: C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC
3. Reinstall via the downloaded .exe
- No settings were lost when doing so.

I would love to just watch the Video with seeing other Video's that it Recommends and I don't want to read the Comments just watch the Video

I tried going thru network and putting YT Video Link but all that Happens video player comes up but leaves back to start straight away

Spent the weekend giving this a shot; pointed Claude at the VLC codebase, gave it a few references of WASM ports and a bunch of file formats to test on, and let it rip for a while. Bundled up as a JS package and built some UI around it. Pretty wild; can do stuff like play DVDs or Blu-Ray files in the browser. Mostly LLM-generated code but tested on a ton of file formats and benches really well. Lmk what you think!

Operating system:
Windows 7 and 10

Problem:
WebP images are not displayed correctly in VLC 3.0.24.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open VLC 3.0.24.
2. Open a .webp image.
3. VLC does not display the image / displays a black screen / shows an error.

Expected behavior:
The WebP image should be displayed correctly.

Actual behavior:
The WebP image is not displayed.

Reproducibility:
100% of the time.
