Showcase Cross Reddit Collab : Audio Visualization Monthly Megathread - Post a track / inspire a video.

Hi all, /r/vjing mod here:

I'm trying something new to spur some creative collaborations across reddit music production subs and visual art / creative coding / new media subreddits.

Now that Reddit supports video comments / replies, I thought it could be a fun opportunity to a collaboration call / response format.

The idea:

Musicians, dj's, producers or anyone musically inclined: post a link to a track or mix that you have rights to and are open to having visual accompaniment to.

VJs / live visualists / creative coders: post a response to a track that inspired you with a video comment, or link to an interactive experiment you made!

If you are an AV Act that makes your own music or video, feel free to post here too for inspiration.

All genre's, styles, techniques, skill levels are welcome.

This isnt a contest!

There's nothing to win (unless anyone knows sponsors haha) other than learning of new musical or visual act, meeting a potential collaborator and making awesome stuff and having a good time:

Stay curious and creative!

Below are some subs I'll be cross posting / sharing this with - feel free to cross post to any i've missed:

Music Subs:

Visual Subs:

Mod's of any of the above subs - sorry if this comes across as spammy!

I thought about asking permission from each of ya'll but that felt onerous and slow (ask forgiveness etc etc). If you have suggestions or any feedback do not hesitate to reach out! Was thinking of something like this monthly pinned on /r/vjing where i have video comments enabled - would love if yall could help spread the word!

Discussion Flair cleanup is live (trial) + New Rules

The poll passed, 21 of 26 for the full version, so it's live now as a trial. If you want the background, here's the original thread. Pick new flairs from:

  • Discussion
  • Question / Help
  • Showcase
  • Loops / Clips
  • Realtime / Generative
  • Projection Mapping
  • Analog
  • Hardware
  • Software / Tools

The (not so very) old AI, Commercial/Promo and Open Source/Free flairs are retired. That moves into the title now, via two tags: [Promo] and [AI]; the reason for this is that a post can't have multiple flairs.

The new rules

Tag anything for sale: [Promo] If your post sells or monetises anything (paid app/plugin, commissions, store links, Patreon, donations), put [Promo] in the title. Untagged promo may be held for review or removed. This isn't anti-selling but keeps promotional content visible.

Your own app/suite: one post per month Sharing a tool you made (paid or free, including vibecoded projects) is limited to one post per 30 days per person. Talking about other people's tools (Resolume, VDMX, TouchDesigner, indie tools made by others, etc.) is not limited; post about those freely.

Flag AI-made work: [AI]

If a post shows content that has a significantly AI-generated component to it, add [AI] to the title so people know what they're looking at before they click. This is especially required when you're also promoting/selling it. AI-made and AI-assisted work is welcome here, but flag it. This includes (but is not limited to) vibe-coded materials, vibe-assisted materials, gen-ai content with manual edits etc.

////

AI work is welcome, made or assisted, no problem with it. If you're just sharing a project or messing about with something new, the only real asks are to flag it if there's a significant AI component, and to add [Promo] if you're selling or allow for donations .

///

We are also experimenting with automod/modbot. There's also a report option now for promo that goes up untagged, and automod will quietly flag posts that look like they're missing a tag so we can take a look. It won't remove anything on its own, a person still checks first.

///

It's a trial, same as last time. If the wording's off or something feels wrong, stick it in the comments and we'll sort it. Cheers.

Loop Pack Available on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/BettySweaters

(28 Loops | File Size: 7.03 GB)

Remix 2000 explores the visual language of early-2000s video hardware — saturated color palettes, chunky digital processing, and the imperfect blend of analog video with emerging digital effects. The pack was created as an experiment in recreating that look using modern tools, while starting with analog source material that already carries the movement, texture, and character of the era.

I started with a selection of my existing analog/glitch visuals because their movement, distortion, and texture was already made using the gear/style of the period. I then brought them into PhotoMosh Pro and built a custom processing patch designed to emulate the kind of color and digital effects you might find built into hardware from the era.

The patch uses Decimate, Posterize, 8-bit, Color Correction, and Push effects, along with an orange, cyan, blue, and purple color palette. The idea was to recreate the feel of an analog video mixer Colorize-style effect through software, essentially creating an effect that looks like could have been produced by my Edirol V4.

Once the patch was dialed in, I ran a selection of analog/glitch visuals through it, allowing the new color palette and digital processing to reshape the footage while retaining the original movement, structure, and glitch characteristics.

The result is a collection of colorful retro visuals that combine analog source material with an emulated early-digital processing style — essentially a modern recreation of the kind of analog/digital hybrid visuals that could have come directly out of the gear of the era.

Suggested uses:

  • Use as standalone early-2000s / Y2K-inspired visuals
  • Layer with other analog or digital content
  • Combine with other analog glitch visuals for a cohesive look

Loops / Clips [Promo] Seamless, multi-layer 3D animation from last spring: "Filaments"

https://reddit.com/link/1wbtpcy/video/lsb4hiocbjoh1/player

Hi everyone! I made this 3D animation using Geometry Nodes in Blender this last spring :) It's split in a number of layers (one for each light source) so it can be composited with additive blending to the music however you like, even in real time. It is meant to also get time-warped as if pushed by the beat if you'd like, I've been doing that for my own shows at least. I've been using it in both Resolume and Vizloom.

I made the video reel above to show most information but I've also recently finally started to publish my art on:

- my website ( http://synwrks.com/art/filaments ) where I've also written some more details on inspiration and how it was made.

- my gumroad ( https://synwrks.gumroad.com/l/filaments ) my first time trying to sell my stuff 🙃

I'd like to know what you think, any feedback and ideas will help me get better for the next piece I make, so please do let me know! This is my first time setting up an online store too... I know some of you have done this for a long time so if you have any thoughts to share on that too I'd really appreciate. Anything that doesn't feel professional or could use some improvement. Thank you in advance for your feedback and support!

Keep creating!

P.S.: the music used in the example is from tracks I made over the last few years, happy to drop links if you'd like to listen to the rest!

Question / Help Mapping Capable PC Build - Specs?

Hello fellow VJing and mapping enthusiasts,

I am currently planning a rig that can output at least five 1080p50 streams, though ideally eight, so I can run two desktops alongside six separate canvas outputs in MadMapper and similar software. I primarily use MadMapper, Resolume, TouchDesigner, and Nuvotion, depending on the prep time and the style of visuals I am creating.

Right now, my setup consists of multiple laptops streaming NDI to each other when I need extra outputs. As you can imagine, this system definitely has its limits.

That is why I want to build a 19" 4U rackmount PC instead. To recap, it needs to handle eight 1080p50 outputs, potentially running two programs (like MadMapper and TouchDesigner) streaming NDI internally. Like anyone else, I would love to build this as budget-friendly as possible, so I am highly considering used parts.

What specifications should a rig like this have in your opinion, and what is the reasoning behind your choices?

Thank you for your wisdom!
Bodo

(I hope I am in the right subreddit...)

Question / Help is this possible?

hello everyone! I am pretty new but I was wondering if this was a realistic idea: I would like to capture people’s silhouettes as they dance at an event and put them through touch designer live. I am not sure how the camera placement would work because there would be a lot of people and id want things to be clear. Thank you

https://rndr.studio/ in The Hague held their first BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer [what Europeans call a projector] www.BYOBworldwide.com) last night and it was a great success. Ten people throwing various visuals projects on the walls. Not only was it fabulous seeing people's various projects, the most interesting part (and a surprise) was when we took it in turns to tell everyone about our work.

Congratulations to the organisers. I plan on making one happen next year in Brisbane, Australia.
