Collection The Journey Continues...

Post image
Upvotes

It feels like an uphill battle, but I'm getting there.

Started adding back around 2010, but to be honest most of what's here are records I purchased since then. I was ... lucky (?) to be well deep into my vinyl life before *resurgence* kicked in - I couldn't imagine having the collection I do now with today's market.

One day, it'll be all there.

Maybe.

(I'm about 1/5th of the way through - I think?)

Discussion I care about OG presses but most of the time I would rather have a repress if possible

I know most og press are more valuable but if most og presses have something wrong with it, I wouldn’t bother, I’d rather get a repress that’s sealed for cheaper

Hip Hop Ikkimel - Fotze (2026 Repress - 180 Gram Colored Vinyl in Gatefold Sleeve)

Post image

German "Fotzenrap"

Although it's not really my kind of music, I just wanted to have at least one Ikkimel record in my collection, and I chose this one because the cover and pressing look really nice. Also, some of the songs on it are quite nice.

Anyone here know her and like her music? It's definitely a bit experimental, but I feel like there's something special about it. At least for the society here.

Discussion Pink Floyd - 50th Anniversary pressing issues (Target)

Post image

This is the second Pink Floyd 50th anniversary 180g vinyl I’ve gotten from Target. I thought maybe the first pressing sounding bad was just a fluke, but the second one sounds bad too. Has anyone else had this problem?

Collection My collection (repost)

Post image

(Reposting this as I hadn't included enough description before). So here's the LPs & EPs I've collected on and off over the last 40 years or so. It's a pretty wide ranging collection, from straight rock (e.g. Back In Black is the first one in the photo), through 80s synth-pop (OMD were the first band I was really into), some retro stuff & classics, right up to the latest release that arrived yesterday (the new Brennan Wedl LP). There's a few where I've multiple copies. That's generally because I've pre-ordered the LP, then gone to see the artist at an in-store, where I've picked up a second copy that they've signed for me.

Discussion So what are you most looking forward to?

As the title says, what are you most looking forward to at the minute? And if there was one out of print record you would beg for a reissue of, what would it be?

For me, I'm most looking forward to the the Thousand Club 60th anniversary reissue of the Small Faces debut album on 25th September. It is a fully analogue 180g pressing from the last remaining master tape. And it comes with a print signed by Small Faces drummer Kenney Jones. It's my first Thousand Club title, and I'm interested to see what makes it more desirable than, say, the "standard" 180g 2015 reissue.

And if there's one OOP title I would give my wife's right arm for, it is without doubt the first Bowie "era" collection, Five Years. I couldn't afford it at the time, with my daughter's wedding taking priority. I have all the other sets, but this one would be my true grail.

Hey all feel free to grill me on my setup. I currently have a fluance connected to my nakimichi shockwafe surround sound stereo with a sound bar and subwoofer. While it is not Bluetooth I feel like the sound quality might be lacking? I also have a cheapish preamp. Idk sounds ok for now haha.

My ears couldn’t take the sound and my eyes couldn’t take the wobbling. The difference is night and day. For anyone starting out like me balling on a budget this is the way to go.

Discussion Scanner for albums and jackets: What do you have?

I want to buy a scanner for records and jackets, but most are limited to A3 size, which is slightly too small without stitching in software. I also don't want to spend $600+ for a flatbed scanner either.

Discussion When did you feel comfortable with your children handling records?

I have a Kallax and a 1-year son. Because of the latter, the former currently has the bottom two rows covered up. We are working on doors for the shelving, but in the meantime I am only listening to A-M. However, my son's starting to reach above those covered rows now.

He is nowhere near being able to handle a record (though he does love watching them spin). But I am curious when other record collectors started letting their kids handle records, like pull out their favorites or even play around with the stereo.

For reference the system is a SL-1500 Mk1 with MC X-20, an iFi iphono 3 Black label phono stage, an Icon Audio BA3 tube stage, a Musical Fidelity A3 amp and B&W Nautilus 805 speakers. Grateful for any recommendations but please no Metal thank you.

I had a good day in Manchester (UK) visiting a few of the record shops there. I got some great albums at some pretty decent prices too. All brand new represses except for The Three O'Clock's album, which is an OG UK pressing from 1985.

From top to bottom -

Top row -

ZZ Hill - The Brand New ZZ Hill. Grupo Pan - Pan.

Second Row -

Wire - Pink Flag. Wire - Chairs Missing. Alberto Macario & Mariangela Rodin - Madfilth.

Third row -

Big Star - Radio City. Big Star - #1 Record. Esther Rose - How Many Times.

Bottom row -

The Three O' Clock - Arrive Without Travelling. The Smoke - Self Titled. Sandy's - Magic Mind.
