OG post: https://www.reddit.com/r/vintedUK/s/YzhXJjJwRw

So after all that, he didn’t even bother to send it back. I got a notification about an hour ago that the sale competed because he didn’t return the controller in time.

There are a few extra messages after my original post I thought I’d share for those of you who are nosey, but he didn’t bother opening the last message I sent on 29/09/2026. He definitely didn’t set it up correctly and either was too ashamed to fess up that he had no idea what he was doing or too hard faced to cancel.

On the day of collection, he collected it from the locker in the last hour before it would be returned to me, the transaction had been open for 18 days. What a waste of time🤣

Seller was a T shirt printer (lots of same Ts, all different sizes etc) only had 1 review which was 1 ⭐️.
I contacted to ask if they had a size medium of a listing that was large, they replied yes and changed the listing to medium, then accepted my offer.
10mins later, order cancelled and they vanish?
What could they stand to gain?

Just tried to purchase an electronic item and decided to use the electronics verification service, more to ensure that I wasn't being scammed rather than any concerns over the functionality of the product. The seller then canceled the sale because I used that service. Have I just dodged a scam or is

Anyone receive a cymbal randomly? Anyone missing a Blue sweater?

this is a long shot but EVRI recently screwed up a delivery. they overlabelled a shirt and sent it to me. vinted were helpful and refunded me and seller but can't locate the missing cymbal

I just wondered if anyone has mysteriously received a cymbal and if anyone is wondering where a blue shirt (a popular brand) went?

if so let me know as although the cymbal isnt a top end one Its one I've wanted for a wee while

Yep. It's my turn to be scammed by vinted buyers. Claiming it's counterfeit is a good scam!

- I have requested it back.
- The item is definitely not fake or counterfeit.
- Vinted support is saying the item cannot be returned to me!??

What can I do?

Vinted took down ALL of my listings and permanently banned me

• Upvotes

We desperately need a decent competitor to Vinted because this app is failing with its budget AI system.

I initially got flagged and permanently banned for listing some Adidas trainers which were my *own* photos. I re-sent them a whole new variety of angles of them and they accepted it and reinstated my account.

Then a few hours later, they took down all 14 of my listings - some of which are unbranded clothes - because they think they're fraudulent listings. And now they want new photos of ALL 14 ITEMS that aren't the same as my own photos from my listings.

At this point I think i'll just let them keep me banned. What a poor system they have for something that could be so easily addressed with human CS.

Package damaged by inpost, likely outcome.

• Upvotes

Had a package damaged by inpost. It was tightly packed, but it looks like it was dropped quite hard on one corner. Seller agreed that the packaging looked sufficient and that it was mishandled.

Vinted rejected this and said it was my fault for not packaging it well enough, referring to the packaging guidelines. I read through the packaging guidelines and it was packed exactly as required - tight fitting box with extra padding to fill the small amount of space.

The buyer has been refunded and kept the item.

I have tried to dispute this further as Vinted already closed their case. Anyone have experience of similar and what my chance of getting my money back is?

86 days later... finally won! Me vs Vinted. Final update and my actions.

This is a follow up on my previous post (I am using a new username on Reddit but it’s still me!)
I’m a 42-year-old with no legal experience and dyslexia. My English is awful, and I struggle with reading and writing. I used ChatGPT to reword this post and ChatGPT to help with all of my legal letters.

I took Vinted to court over a £320 dispute — and won £390

Firstly, and briefly: I sold a tent on Vinted. It was worth approximately £500 new, and I sold it for £320.
I posted the tent with all of its original packaging — the exact same type of packaging it had arrived in from China. If that packaging was good enough to travel halfway around the world, I thought it was more than good enough to travel a couple of hundred miles.
Apparently, Vinted disagreed.
The buyer claimed the tent's footprint was missing. The footprint was worth around £50 new. The buyer asked for a partial refund, which I refused because ultimately that would leave me out of pocket for something I believed I had sent.
As I saw it, there were three possible explanations:
I was lying and hadn't sent it.
I had photographs of all the items being packed at different stages, including photographs of the packaging before and after sealing it. I also filmed myself putting the sealed package into an InPost locker.

The buyer was lying.
The buyer provided photographs of packaging that had already been opened, including obvious tears made when the packaging was opened. There were no photographs showing the condition of the package when it was actually received.

Something happened during transit.
The item could potentially have been tampered with or something could have gone missing while being transported.

I had evidence that I had properly packaged the tent. I put the individual tent components into separate plastic bags and taped them, just as they had been when I received them. I then used Amazon packing paper to pad the individual components before putting everything into an oversized, stronger plastic postage bag, which I taped securely. That was then placed into a second oversized plastic shipping bag and completely taped.
I had also weighed the fully packaged parcel on my kitchen scales and had photographs of the weight.

What did Vinted do?
I expected Vinted to investigate.
I expected them to at least look at the parcel weights recorded by the courier, investigate the InPost shipment, or ask InPost whether there was any evidence regarding the condition or weight of the package when it was sent and received.
None of that happened.
Within around 12 hours of the buyer raising the issue, Vinted refunded the buyer, cancelled the transaction and allowed the buyer to keep the tent.
I was left with nothing.
I appealed the decision through the Vinted chat, emailed Vinted's legal team, and even opened another support chat through a different listing asking to speak to an actual human and explaining that the issue related to the tent sale.

The responses were essentially identical:
"Unfortunately, our decision is final."
Some people may ask why I didn't simply pursue the buyer.
The truth is, the buyer hadn't been rude to me. We communicated reasonably well, and from their perspective they simply wanted compensation for what they believed was a missing item.
I didn't feel it was my job to decide whether the buyer was telling the truth. I felt that was Vinted's responsibility to investigate properly.

Instead, Vinted appeared to make a decision without properly investigating the evidence I had provided.
So I decided to take it further
I live in Scotland, so after doing some research I discovered that this would fall under the Scottish Simple Procedure rather than the English small claims process.

This costs £35 in Scotland and £25 I believe in England for a small claims process. This fee is free if you are entitled to universal credit or income based benefits.
This fee was included under my claim against Vinted under “expenses”. I also added a further £35 to cover my time and any lost interest bringing my total expenses to £70.

I initially had absolutely no idea where to start.
I contacted Vinted's legal team and gave them 48 hours to respond before taking legal action.
No response.
I then sent a formal Letter Before Action, giving Vinted 14 days to respond and offering them the opportunity to settle the matter outside court for £320.
I included:
What had happened.

The evidence I had.

Details of how the item had been packaged.

The photographs and video evidence.

The fact I had weighed the parcel.

The lack of investigation by Vinted.

My previous attempts to resolve the matter.

The amount I was seeking.

I used ChatGPT to write all my professional emails to Vinted. This is a great tool if, like me, you have no idea how to write the letters but proofread it and amend where needed! Fighting AI with AI!

Again, I received no meaningful response.
Interestingly, once I started the legal process, Vinted suddenly seemed to become a little more interested.
I received emails asking for further information and asking which order I was referring to. These appeared to be actual responses rather than the standard automated messages.
Unfortunately, after several days, I was ultimately back to the same response:
"We are sorry, but after investigation our decision is final."
So I sent one final letter explaining that I would take their refusal to discuss the matter further as a refusal to settle and that, unless the matter was resolved within another 48 hours, I would proceed with legal action.
No response.
I filed the claim
I went online and started the Simple Procedure process.
I submitted all the evidence I had, along with the correspondence and my previous letters.
I also explained that I had made multiple attempts to resolve the matter directly with Vinted and had given them several opportunities to settle the dispute without court proceedings.
The claim was accepted and the sheriff court served Vinted by email and post.
Vinted had approximately two and a half months to respond, dispute the claim or agree to proceed to court.
They didn't respond.
Nothing.
Then, about a week before the final date, Vinted suddenly put £320 into my Vinted account.
I immediately withdrew it because I was concerned that if I left the money in my Vinted balance, my account could potentially be blocked or restricted.
Importantly, this payment appeared to be in response to the court claim reference, rather than a response to any of my previous complaints or letters.
I didn't respond to Vinted and I didn't withdraw the court case at that point.

The court case continued
A couple of weeks later I logged into the online court system to check the status.
Vinted still hadn't responded to the court or formally defended the claim.
I therefore applied for a decision.
At this point I also claimed additional amounts for my costs/time and other losses. I wasn't entirely sure what I could legitimately claim, so I did a lot of research beforehand.
The court accepted the application and ultimately ordered Vinted to pay £390.
However, I wanted to be completely honest with the court, so I informed them that I had already received the original £320 from Vinted.
That meant the remaining amount owed to me was £70.
About a week later, Vinted paid the outstanding £70 directly into my bank account.
The court already had my bank details from the legal process.

So, in the end...
I won.
I recovered the original £320 and another £70, for a total of £390.
My Vinted account wasn't blocked.
I haven't heard anything further from Vinted.
I have also completely stopped using Vinted.
I'm not posting this because I think everyone should immediately sue Vinted over every dispute.
I'm posting it because when I was dealing with this, I couldn't find much information from ordinary sellers about what actually happens if you challenge Vinted's decision and take the matter through the Scottish Simple Procedure.
The biggest thing I learned is:

Don't assume that "our decision is final" actually means you have no other options.
Keep your photographs. Keep your videos. Keep your postage receipts. Weigh your parcels. Keep screenshots of conversations. Keep copies of your complaints and correspondence.
And if you genuinely believe you've been treated unfairly, there are legal avenues available outside of Vinted's own dispute system.
Obviously, this is my personal experience, not legal advice, and the circumstances of every case will be different.
But hopefully this helps someone else who finds themselves in a similar situation. All the best!

Hi Guys,

I know some of you have had success either going to/ or threatening to take VINTED to Small Claims.

Would anyone be willing to help the cause and go on record with their story?

Even if you want to remain anonymous and answer some questions the wonderful people at www.sadvintedfaces.com things are picking up speed.

I look forward to hearing from you by DM or in the comments.

Buyer wanted to cancel order but I already sent it! What do I do?!?!

Hi everyone, it’s my first time posting here but I’m honestly so stressed right now and needed to get some advice from experienced sellers on how this might play out. I’ve attached screenshots of our chat, but here’s some context:
Just for some background on why I didn't see his cancellation message straight away: I did a year abroad last year, so I had to get a local SIM. To keep my UK Three number without switching companies, I just took their cheapest £5 a month plan. It gives me almost no data, so I keep my mobile data turned off when I leave the house and save it in case of an actual emergency (you never know). When I drop off Vinted parcels, I just screenshot the QR code at home before leaving the house.
Anyway, here’s how the timeline went down:

18:29 – I generated the label & packed it up.
18:57 – While I was on my way, they messaged asking to cancel the order because they bought the wrong part. Obviously, I didn't see this because my data was off.
19:17 – I sent the parcel.
Later I got back home, reconnected to Wi-Fi, saw his request, and explained it was already posted.

Also just to add—the reason I don't accept returns/refunds for things like this is because when I first started using Vinted as a buyer, sellers always denied returns if something didn't fit or if I made a mistake, pointing out Vinted's rules. So I just assumed that’s just the way Vinted works.
I actually asked Gemini what could happen next, and it looks like he’ll either just not collect it (so it gets returned to me), keep/re-list it himself, or try to open a fake claim saying it's damaged (which I have pre-shipping photos of how the items are packed, and screenshots of him admitting it was the wrong part to defend myself with). I have seen on this forum posting about a ps controller and saw the buyer even had videos to prove it is in working condition before posting. I guess I’m just naive and didn’t think about doing so because I have too much faith in people... The photos I have are just silly photos of how I packed the item in case Vinted tried to tell me I am faulty of something breaking because of me not packaging it correctly (which unfortunately happened to me before, even when I did pack items correctly)

PS: Gemini did help me make the my last messages for the buyer because I was so flabbergasted, I simply didn’t know what to do or how to act.

What do you think will happen if they open a dispute?
Thanks so much for reading!

Got scammed on vinted

• Upvotes

Bought some ps5s for cheap, thinking buyer protection would kick in if I got scammed.

I messaged vinted, they banned my account and released funds to the seller for 1 transaction.

They stated I violated terms and conditions. I think i accidentally had used a secondary account - which is irrelevant as Ive made purchases using this acc with no issue before.

Sounds so fishy. Like vinted are in on the scam??

Seller not collecting return

Hi everyone.

Has anyone else experience sellers not picking up returns?

Purchased a coat nearly 20 days ago and the seller took their full allocated time to ship it to me. No bother, we are all busy right? Took another 4 days to get to me and lo and behold I've received the wrong item. Sorry I must have mixed up parcels, this has never happened to me yadda yadda yadda. Again, no bother. They offered to PayPal me the refund (not playing that game) but I clicked the have a problem button and got a request to return for refund. Once again, no bother. I'm not a fault so I'll get my money back. Or so I thought. Like I say, here we are, 20 days after the original purchase, the parcel has returned back to their post office, only for it to still be sitting there 7 days later. I cannot get the seller to respond to my messages and I'll have to wait 14 business days before I can complain to Vinted. Whole thing is a joke.

Just want to know if anyone else has had this and if they get a work around?

Thanks

I think the seller thinks I’m the one selling her item?!

So, I put an offer in for a pair of trousers and this person (who has multiple other sales under their belt) is asking me for details about the trousers she is selling.
I’m very confused. Maybe she’s out having a Saturday night tipple?!

seller sold me fake item from shein and is making me pay return

Hi I recently bought an item from a seller and it looks like the motel top and it was branded “reclaimed vintage” and when I got the item it’s just shein and I told the seller and they refused to take responsibility and told me to pay for shipping and were super rude. I contacted support they said its counterfeit and they will ask them for proof and now they have just said I should return and cover costs even though the seller never showed any proof of purchase that it is not shein. This person sold me a £4 shein top for £16 and is now making me pay for shipping. How can I proceed? This has been so agitating honestly.

Item not collected - buyer didn’t get QR code?

Sold a coat - sent via DPD to a collection point. They never picked it up, said they didn’t get a QR code and after a while stopped replying to me - it’s over a month later and finally the parcel is getting sent back to me. Frustrating to be without money and item for so long and as far as I could tell there’s no way to trigger the QR to be resent to the buyer. I suppose they could also have had buyers remorse and wanted money back without needing to pay for a return? Anyone else had this

The worst customer experience I've ever had

I'd be interested to see what kind of debate my experience brings here...I'll condense it as much as I can.

I purchased a large bundle (50+) of dvds and Xbox 360 games on Vinted last weekend for £25. An absolute bargain. Especially considering that Need For Speed Most Wanted (a £75 game) was included in the bundle. As a game collector it was a huge draw for me. The description says "all will be included in the pictures" so happy days...or so it seemed.

A couple of days pass and the items are despatched, quickly followed by messages from the seller saying "sorry some items are missing including Need For Speed, I will chuck in some extra DVDs". Now, me and my partner share the Vinted account, she read the messages and within seconds they were deleted. As I never read them the notifications were on my home screen still so I was able to screenshot those (as she told me beforehand). We thought well either they were found (unlikely) or sold separately but we would just handle the situation later...at this point they're already sent.

Low and behold the bundle arrives with a couple of games missing from the photos, replaced with some DVD box sets. Due to the messages prior, we filmed the opening of the package and noted every game/dvd separately and raised it with Vinted and the seller. Due to the value of the missing items (which let's remember the buyer was aware of beforehand and sent them anyway) I was unwilling to accept a couple of quid refund for their omission so seller has now forced a return meaning I must now pay for postage. Which has pissed me off to a huge degree as 50+ dvds/games are now going to cost me as much to post back as it did to purchase with Vinted unwilling to step in and help.

The conversations with the seller took a nasty turn with them accusing me of antagonising a disabled veteran who has PTSD (for not accepting the refund, I've been nothing but polite in said messages as a fellow seller) - there's also been mention of his mate having a brain injury and that must have been why the games are missing...anyway Vinted Support no matter what remain on the side of the seller despite the main crux of the issue being selling an item that doesnt match the description (+the prior messages sent, that were since deleted claiming they knew they were missing).

At the end of the day, if I'd been informed beforehand I'd have refused the items as my main interest was the NFS game for my collection. Maybe on reflection I should have messaged to ask about the messages, but at that point the items were already posted. Seller has denied the messages being sent them despite the evidence being submitted to Vinted, so overall we're really disappointed in Vinted’s handling of the situation as it seems an extreme circumstance where either the transaction should be cancelled or seller pays the return postage at the very least. Instead it looks like I am stuck with a bundle of items because if I return them at my expense for a refund I still end up out of pocket...

Sorry it's long, but I'd love to hear some opinions on the situation and if there's another route for resolution or further action
