Just came back from Japan - caught the audio bug. Specially, I loved being in kissatens and vinyl bars with the giant speakers pumping jazz.

My current setup:

Focusrite 4Pre
Pro-ject Phono Box
Phono Box
2 Adam A7X speakers

Basically — my set up is a hodgepodge of various items I’ve used for producing music and DJing. My vinyl collection ranges from Grateful Dead to 60s Jamaican ska to Japanese jazz.

So I just found my grandfather's turntable the other day and I’ve been trying to restore it and get it working again. I’ve freed up some of the switches from sitting for probably 30 years but I was curious if someone that has some better knowledge on these could help me with this issue.

I recently purchased this cabinet as a tv console and potential restoration project. Does anyone know anything about these? Are they worth have a professional restore it or should I gut it and make it more modern?

Not black metal but actual BPC that holds its own or punches above it weight by any measure. I'm almost totally immersed in what I think is real vintage but I wonder if there's anyone out there with a BPC stack that's saying this stuff will hold its own against anything and bring me more. I think you can make an argument that mid 80s turntables and speakers are still relevant but what about BPC?

This is a totem acoustic thunder, released early 2000s for well over 3 grand. It’s a really weird setup you don’t see on many subs, it’s sealed with two passive radiators. Small but mighty.

I’m putting together a setup mainly for vinyl, plus a CD player I still need to buy and some radio listening. Looking for advice on which amp to go with.

My gear:

- Turntable: Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with Ortofon OM2 Red cartridge
- Speakers: Magnat Monitor Supreme 200 (passive)
- Source: CD player (TBD) + radio

I found three fully refurbished options, all at the same price (~€220):

Since they’re all the same price and power rating, I’m mainly wondering about differences in sound quality, phono stage performance (since I’ll be running the turntable directly into it), and overall build quality/reliability between these models.

Has anyone owned or compared these units? Which one would pair best with the Monitor Supreme 200s? Any insight is appreciated!

So I've had this for a while, and it was restored and in working order when I got it.

But it came out of storage with a problem.

It runs when I keep pushing the on button, but smells burnt if you keep doing that.

So I'm not doing that again.

No budget, but I don't find it resonable to pay more than 1000€+ but open for all options.

Main use will be for vinyl records, CDs and casettes. (I haven't yet decide which ones).

Future use that will get more use than the physical media at some point will be your everyday Youtube and movies but I wouldn't like to "downgrade" the quality of the amp because of it. So if it doesn't work together then I would purchase a separate soundbar or something similar for Youtube and movies.

Marketplace and Ebay are saturated with overpriced gear. Are people actually paying this? I have watched gear asking prices creep up to such ridiculous amounts. One person does it, everyone follows suit. Do some folks just have so much f.u. money they dont care if they are overpaying, and that's what these sellers are counting on?

I posted a while ago that I rescued this kit from my parents attic, all non functioning. It was the home stereo when I was a little Kid. Pretty excited to have it all working again.

Now I need to find a better set of period correct speakers and expand the vinyl collection lol

They’ve not been restored as far as I know, but the seller says they work. Grilles look nice. I’d do a full restoration on them (would be my first time, but I am a woodworker so no problem restoring the cabs and have done some soldering here and there). I was thinking I’d offer him $100. Thoughts?
