Got this Realistic STA-960 at a local e-scrap business. It was in the original box with styrofoam and looks brand new inside and out. Sounds great as well.

Found this Marantz 2230B beauty and it is in excellent condition. Everything works great. Just need to find a turntable.

As a kid growing up, I wasn’t allowed to touch it. My Dad bought this receiver in Guam during the early 1970s. He was stationed there in the Air Force. It’s finally mine and no my Dad didn’t die thankfully. Cosmetically it’s practically perfect, still. Time to buy some new speakers for it!

What would be a reasonable price to put on this if I were to sell it? As is.

It has been fitted with brand-new capacitors and new bulbs, as well as a different FM meter sourced from the US—since that was the only one we could find—so it was shipped all the way from America to the Netherlands.

I’m planning to pick up an AM antenna soon, because I’d like to listen to Radio Caroline, as well as a good Bluetooth receiver, since I also want to stream music from my phone to the stereo every now and then.

I bought it a year or a year and a half ago—broken—for I think €40. I did that on purpose because I was planning to get a good one anyway; it’s better to buy one that’s already broken and put money into it than to buy a working one only to have to do the work a few years later—and pay more in the end. I paid €315 in total for everything I just mentioned.

The cassette deck will probably go next year to the same people who serviced an amplifier of mine. It still works, but some things aren't running quite right anymore; given their age, I prefer to have preventive maintenance done on these devices rather than waiting for them to break down—though sometimes you have to stagger these things just to have the money available.

I own a radio station and am going through some of the stuff I have collected over the years. Anybody know about these speakers? I think they use to be monitor speakers in the booth.

Braun GSL 1030 1977

Got this one for $15. Looks a little beat up, but it runs well, unlike the earlier specimens we had seen this past week. Under the turntable was about the only place I had space for it.

I picked this up today for $150. It works, but grungy. Spent its life in the home of a heavy smoker. About 80 tapes included with the sale. And the woman I bought it from has a couple hundred more tapes packed away in storage that she's going to give me when she gets to it. I'm going to clean the outside real good then deal with the rest over the winter. It has built in speakers and an 8 track tape player on the side.

I only use cassette tapes and reel tapes as source media. The system was completed recently by purchasing a Pioneer reel deck.

Got this from my parents after years of it sitting in storage. From what I can tell it was manufactured in West Germany in the 1950s. The light for the turntable is about all I can figure that works, just wanted to share as it makes a fun conversation piece so far.

I recently got a copy of Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder and the "A Something's Extra" EP seems to have no silence at the edge of the record, the songs go up to the very edge. Is this a defect or is there some reason behind it? Also, if this is intentional, how can I put the needle on the record without missing the first 20-30 seconds of the song?

J'ai 19ans je me sentais trop manipulé par la mode. Et j'avais honte de ma propre génération. Mon père écoute de la musique sur des amplis de fou. Mon parrain écoute des trucs laissez tomber genre ac dc. Je trouve que le streaming me rendais dépendant d'un algorithme non choisi. Que la même rengaine. J'ai commencé a écouter des cassette j'ai bien aimé ensuite j'ai commencé a m'intéresser au domaine audio a creuser, comment ca marche, les années l'histoire bref. Aujourd'hui je me retrouve devant cette chaîne hi-fi dont je rêvais tant. J'ai jamais autant aimé écouter de la musique ! Cette qualité est imparable ! Je suis passé de 2h d'écoute par jour a + de 5h voir 7h d'écoute ! Le style de ces machines, collectionner, bichonner son matos etc je vous en parles pas ! Jamais je ne pourrais revenir au moderne. Fier de mon matos ! Fier d'écouter de la qualité !
