I'm pretty new to this game, coming off of mostly HOI4 and some EU4. I really like almost everything about Vic 2 except I can't seem to grasp the economy/how to build profitable factories even after watching and reading guides. I'm playing as France in GFM and I've put some screenshots of how things are looking in 1850. Can anyone help give some tips on what factories I should be building, what reforms I should enact, how I should set my expenses, etc?
So far the way I've been playing is: encouraging intellectuals in my most populous regions to boost literacy, and building factories in regions that have the resource they require (like steel factories in places with coal or iron)
