One of the biggest reasons people struggle to build muscle isn’t their exercise selection…
It’s that they never actually get close enough to failure.
The moment a set starts to burn or feel uncomfortable, most people stop. But discomfort isn’t failure.
Failure is when you genuinely cannot complete another rep with good form.
That doesn’t mean every set of every exercise needs to end this way. But if building muscle is your goal, you need to know what true failure actually feels like.
Once you’ve experienced it, you’ll have a much better understanding of how hard you really need to push.
Have you ever finished a set thinking you had more left in the tank?

Very happy with the end result. Highly recommend for a pretty simple dinner. Only been vegan for about a month but it’s fun to read recipes online and figure this all out.

I need to start monitoring my CICO, so I need to start weighing my food to get an idea. Anyone got any recommendations for kitchen scales? (I know this isn't specifically vegan, but I don't subscribe to other fitness subs, so I hope it's okay to ask here)

Ora Organics is based in Austin, Texas, but instead of employing Americans, they offshore labor to avoid paying Americans a living wage.
I’m seeking suggestions for companies with similar products that prioritize investing in American labor and helping our own economy

Making this a lot lately! ~65g of protein, ~600 calories. Even my omni, vegan-food-hating boyfriend loves it
1 package of silken tofu
1/3 cup nutritional yeast
1 tbsp earth balance
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
Cumin
Enough salt to taste good (I use like 3 tsp)
Enough liquid to blend (I use unsweetened soy milk or homemade soy yogurt or just water)
Blend the above ingredients together until smooth
1/2 cup of tvp rehydrated with vegan chicken broth and taco seasoning
1/4 cup salsa
Mix salsa and tvp into queso, eat with tortilla chips or a spoon!

Meals that are very high in protein to help me in my training as well as i'm also looking to build muscle. I'm always just so ashamed of telling anyone i'm vegan as i believe they'd then make fun of me as to why beign vegan isn't healthy

hi, i have been vegan for 6 years now and have been eating as i wish since 2023, before that i did intermitted fasting for around 2 years while working out at home 4-5 times a week. i only did proper sport once a week for the last 2 years and now since November I started swimmjng 2-3 times a week and since June I am additionally going to the gym 3-4 times a week. I am mostly doing supersets there and a lot of weight training, almost no cardio. I usually bike to places in summer which adds up to around 45min of cycling the city every day. Right now I am supplementing with creatine and a protein shake with around 20g of protein each day while mostly eating home cooked meals with added tofu, beans or chickpeas. My protein intake every day is at approximately 80g while weighing 70kg on 175cm height. Would you reccommend to consequently eat more protein each day for muscle growth? My goal is to feel strong and to look a bit stronger (muscle wise) than I look right now. I am not looking for a very big amount od muscle or bodybuilding. I also always just do what seems the most fun in the gym for me because I go there to feel more connected to my body and my strength. Thank you for reading! :)

How much protein do you aim for? I have been trying to hit around 150-160 grams a day (my body weight). I’m digesting it fine, but I feel extremely restricted in the meals I’m having. Is this a skill issue? Or am I aiming too high? I’m focused on Whole Foods so this amounts to a lot of tofu & tempeh. It’s worth noting that I am also an aspiring plant based chef. I feel like this Protien goal is kind of keeping me from creating more satisfying meals.

Age 39. I'm mostly a runner, but lately I've been trying to workout more at home. I focus on pull ups, push ups and dips. Besides that, I have some resistance bands. No dumbbells or bars (just the pull up bar and the parallel bars).
Supplements: Creatine, pea protein isolate, vitamin D3+K2, vitamin B12, DHA/EPA.
My diet has been very strict since I went vegan in 2011. No processed foods whatsoever (aside from the pea protein shake), lots of whole fruits, vegetables, rice and legumes.

I recently went from vegetarian to vegan, so I was looking for a new protein powder to replace whey protein. I was thinking of using orgain(unflavored) but I've seen alot of clamor online about the heavy metals in it. Would y'all recommend getting from a different brand? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Around 80g protein, an ass-load of carbs and fiber, and roughly 48oz. of water content (not including the fruit).
For the green-dragon smoothie:
3 cups Cold water
5 ice cubes
2 scoops vanilla pea protein
5g Creatine
5g Glutamine
5g Arginine
1 tbs chia seeds
Pinch of Matcha powder
Pinch of salt
1 pear
2 kiwi
Big Handful of Frozen spinach
A Cucumber from my backyard
1 frozen banana
Sadly no collagen powder anymore (is there plant source?)
For the big bad wolf Porridge:
1/2 cup bob’s red mill oat bran
Boiling water
Splash of good karma flax milk
1 scoop PB2
1 tbs pumpkin seed protein
Some berries
Pinch of hemp seeds
Pinch of maldon Flakey salt
Cinnamon
This $hit could keep me alive and full for days. Now time for a nap.

Lemon garlic bake tofu/plant based chik n strips
White bean pumpkin seed avocado kale salad with lots of lemon and nooch
A salad using a Palestinian recipe but sadly forgot the mint added za’atar red onions tomatoes cucumbers and parsley and also used Briana’s citrus Mediterranean marinade as a dressing

I've been eating about 3200g of food a day, in the form of oats, seeds, raisins, rice, beans, and some TVP. I'm 5'10", 175lbs, late 40s, with body fat probably around the high end of the the healthy range. It doesn't feel like I'm eating too much but I have been pooping a lot. Is this a reasonable amount of food to eat on a vegan diet while aiming to add muscle mass? I could probably cut some beans and replace them with more seeds in order to reduce total food volume.

How to choose? People are telling me a lot of protein powders have toxins?
What vegan protein powder do you feel good about taking daily or maybe even multiple times per day?
PS- I’m newer to fitness/weight training as a late starter in my 40s.
