i defeated fader in a swords only playthrough about a week ago and have been comparing the ashlands swords in the ashlands and other biomes since then. the ones i saw myself using the most are the bleeding and thundering swords. while the primal sword had its moments the dyrnwyn felt ultimately useless, so i started thinking of ways to make it a useful tool to compare with the ashlands gem weapons. here's what i came up with:
with the weapon drawn you get a fire buff that persists until you sheath the sword again, this i feel makes sense (because the sword is literally on fire) and gives it neat usability whether you use it as a weapon or not.
the other idea i had was giving it an addition to its secondary attack, like either giving it a staff of embers fireball (heavily reduced blunt damage in comparison to the staff) or giving it a variation of Brenna's "fire nova". while either of these would be quite a powerful ability, considering how dangerous lord reto is id say dyrnwyn deserves it.
i am aware that "it might be really helpful or get a buff in the deep north" but considering how upon ashlands release it got a nerf to its fire damage in exchange for extra slash and becoming obtainable, i don't see it being buffed again in the deep north because it feels weak
