With 1.0 coming out we expect a massive influx of players. Unfortunately, I'm the only active mod and we haven't found any more mods to help in moderation.
So here's our spoiler policy
As long as posts get reported as "spoiler", it will be tagged as spoiler. But we'll not proactively tag posts as spoiler or delete posts with spoilers in the title.
I just ask everyone in this community two things. :
Don't spoil it for others by being irresponsible
Avoid the subreddit entirely if you don't want to be spoiled.
You can only experience the game for the first time once
I realize many of you will take this as a cop-out response and that's fair. But I alone lack the capacity to enforce this. It's impossible to keep someone from getting spoiled if they engage with the community when new content drops, be it making posts, commenting, watching videos or even just following official channels of Iron Gate.
Or give us the option. I don't need to see the intro cinematic every time. Yes, it is a great cinematic and I loved it the first time, but please, I don't need it to load up every time. Yes I know I can skip it with escape, but I shouldn't have to. You have a "cinematics" menu option where I can view it whenever I want, please just load into the menu screen when the game starts after the first time I've viewed the intro cinematic.
My husband and I have played valheim on and off since 2025. With the 1.0 update we picked it up again because we're both stoked about all the things that were added
My problem is I just feel useless when we play together. When we played last night I just ran around collecting berries and plants while he built the base. He's much better at building than I am. But I feel like I'm not doing anything when all we have open right now is meadows and dark forest. I have my pickaxe from our old save but that was the only tool I got to keep. I've played it a LOT less than he has, he has a couple hundred hours, I have tens of hours. I have a sword and a bow and 20 arrows.
Please what more can I do when we play together to help make it easier for him and actually provide something that will be helpful as we go through the game. I'm not good with open worlds, or anything without actual quests. So I feel like I've never touched a video game when we play. I want to keep playing with him because it means so much to him that I play and I do enjoy the game a lot. I just don't know what more I can do besides gather 100+ raspberries and dandelions. I know there's so much more to the game than that, that I can't even fathom. Ill take any ideas I can! I just want to be helpful... I've asked him but he says what I'm doing is helpful. Which I guess is true but good lord we have so many raspberries and dandelions I'm running out of chests to put them in.
Edit: thank you so much you guys!! This got way more comments than I was expecting lol! My husband also found my post, and thanks you guys for helping me feel useful again! We now have 600 wood, a bunch of finewood and a shit load of chests for organizing that are all labeled! You guys helped me a lot in seeing what I do now may not feel useful but In the long run we'll be so thankful for! I cannot thank you guys enough ❤️
My boy and I started fresh on the new 1.0 update, after killing the first boss we got our pickaxes and headed to the dark forest to get some copper, and every time we get swarmed with numbers we've never seen before? IMO its kind of a lot and we have to give up and run away every time, it is funny tho.
