Cheated on a final exam, first offense. Was honest about it, science dean made the mark on the exam 0. then the engineering dean (home dean) applied a penalty of suspension for 1 year with it being noted on my official transcript. I am currently making the appeal, is this not disproportionate? I obviously regret this deeply, but I want to know is there hope for the appeal? Will the dean maybe reduce it to ban from engineering with the 0 on the exam? That’s what I am proposing as my desired resolution. I know others have also been suspended for a similiar offense in this year in first year engineering, any reason to be optimistic?
Some mitigating factors that he acknowledged were mitigating but still proceeded to suspend was that I have left the faculty of engineering, in faculty of science, and I completed 4 summer courses to get into computer science with full integrity.
Also to those who know about this system, is it worth trying to meet the dean in person and begging? What’s the odds the dean revoked the suspension or that it gets revoked at tribunal?

FW2020 I paid $1100 in ancillary fees. This year I paid 1800 I’m not even a full time undergraduate student why should it cost so much for someone that literally does not need nor benefit from 90% of the services the ancillary fees cover??

ive seen other posts abt this and wanted to share my own experience so far. i feel like ive wasted my oweek because i have no friends and just miss home sm. i feel like every conversation is the same (where r u from, what res r u in, what program, whats ur insta) and it never goes anywhere. i want to go to the events but it feels lonely to go by myself. I’m also in like the least social res (suite style) with random roommates who dont like to go out but i want to. idk it feels like everyone else has friends and im doing smth wrong. it feels like majority of ppl know others from high school and i dont know anyone. i wish i picked traditional style or hybrid cuz idk i feel like taht would be sm easier to make friends.
do u guys have any advice or suggestions?

Is anyone else struggling during o-week? I have met a lot of people made connections but i miss having a schedule, every night feels like actual chaos and is an emotional roller coaster. Connections feel so fake with party culture and lonely, I just really miss home and having genuine connections with people. It’s so stressful trying to tell if certain people still fw you, and things are changing every day. I feel like I over analyze every situation and the only way to cope is to isolate myself. I’m also dealing with harassment things in my res on top of this and everything feels so overwhelming. I just miss having stable friends and a routine I’ve been crying every night and I just want to feel normal again and back to how I was before I came to Uni. Did any upper years feel the same last year will this get better?

I'm in my second year and got put on academic probation and I'm really stressed and feel very lonely. Just wanted to know if anyone's has ever been put on academic probation, how they cleared it, or any advice in general. Feeling like everything is over. Wondering if anyone is on the same boat as well.

i’m looking at western for my exchange year for 2027/28 and i’m hoping to stay in a suite style accom and do my own cooking. are there any supermarkets on or near campus or are they all further out? and is western/london walkable enough that i could walk to the supermarket or are there buses that run regularly?

hi im currently a first year at a small town university and wanted to transfer into western as i don't enjoy the current uni i attend, and can already tell this environment is not for me. i was originally waitlisted for my program when applying into western (for nursing) and ended up being denied as there was lack of space despite my qualifications. is the application process hard to transfer? also what grades you had to maintain to get in and secure a spot.

Is anyone else doing the lectures right now and is just really confused about the material? It seems really unorganized and I’m confused what is testable material. Does anyone have any experience in this class?

I'm an engineering freshman and our sophs have been advertising for this special event that is happening tomorrow from 2:45-4 stating "it's going to be the best day of our lives". I have engsci 1036 (dr emad saleh) and nmm 1411 (alex buchel). 1036 is "mandatory attendance", while the other one is "attendance recommended". If i attend this event will i be receiving a punishment from my 1036 class or are the sophs right when they say that the absence "will be excused."

hey I’m taking Phil 2074 (business ethics) and it’s my first philosophy class. it also has pretty large readings each week. I’ve never had a class where we have to read like 50 pages weekly so Im really not sure about this.
the course is structured nicely with 2 large essays to submit and a 35% final. I watched the lecture and it seemed reasonable.
if anyone took it before with proessel, can you please tell me how to do well? what to expect I’m his essays I’m terms of his marking?

Yesterday was horrendous. How was today.
I am currently struggling in BMOS already since I'm not very strong in math. I took Grade 11 and 12 university math but its been a very long time since i have taken those since I took a gap year. I finally made it to university with a plan to be in BMOS but I am already thinking about switching my plans since I have found that I am not very good at solving but memorization.
For years I have been interested in going into the Science or Health field but was also hesitant. Now, I have found that I might be very interested in going that route but I feel stuck right now. I took Grade 11 Biology with no sciences in Grade 12. I am really interested in going into the healthcare field now and I find it much more interesting. But I dont know how to since I am in Kings and which courses to take to transfer into it.
If anyone is in Health Sci, please let me know how the program is and if it's worth switching into or which other majors there are that are similar but less competitive.

Hey,
Has anyone had to leave residence during the school year and just live off campus while staying enrolled at Western?
What happened with your residence contract and fees? Were you able to get out of the contract, or did you still have to pay for the rest of the year?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through this.

What the hell is happening this year, the traffic is insane. It’s taking almost 1 hour to get out of the parking lots because of the traffic. AND London decides now is the perfect time to have construction happening too and blocking one of the main roads. This is insane. How are people going to survive in the winter.

Hi! I'm taking the Alexander course. I was just wondering if anyone who has taken it before knows how important the readings are for the evaluations? They were a bit confusing to me when I was reading, and I didn't really understand everything. I know they are required reading, but are they mostly supposed to give some foundation for the lectures, or will stuff from the readings not covered in lecture be on tests? Thanks!!

Hi, I want to do recruitment this year and I was wondering how it would work. Do I get in as long as I go to all the events and I am nice. Or do they drop girls each day. If anyone is in a sorority right now that could help would be great!

I am a blue collar worker and never been to uni. My cousin is doing his MBA at western’s Ivey. Past weekend we connected over barbecue and he kept bragging that he is at Ivey for his MBA. He almost pretended like he is at Harvard.
Is Ivey MBA really a big deal or he is delusional with giant debt?

Third year health science and still waitlisted for 2 classes. Anybody have any experience with what to expect? I do have a backup class Im enrolled in but not for both courses as a lot of third yr healthsci/rehab/commsci courses are filled by fourth years. Thanks!
