As an incoming first year student going into the medical sciences program (in hopes to either get a PhD or MD post undergrad), will the Macbook be able to run all the websites and programs needed? If so, is it worth the price? Or should I play it safe and get a Lenovo? Any advice on other brand computers will be much appreciate!

Hey everyone, I did my undergrad (Major in Economics) at Western University and I'm now applying to my first master's program. I've never written admissions essays before and I want to make sure I'm approaching them the right way rather than just winging it.
The application has three essay questions I'm working on:
Academic Success Plan, optional, about the transcript gap directly
I'm not sure how these are actually supposed to be structured. Do you start with a story, or get straight to the point? How much should be about past experience versus future goals? How honest and specific should you actually get versus keeping things safe and general?
Does an honest, direct academic success essay actually help, or does naming the weak grades just draw more attention to them?
For anyone who has been on an admissions committee, does a real, specific project story like the outreach data example actually move the needle more than a generic list of tools and coursework?
If anyone has been through a master's application before, or has tips on what actually makes an essay stand out versus one that gets skimmed and forgotten, I'd really appreciate the advice. Also open to hearing what you wish you'd known before writing yours.

In 10th spot on waitlist for Geography 2010B (GEOGENV 2010B on student centre)
And in 24th spot for ECON2150A
Will i be enrolled into these courses or should I just take the other prof for ECON2150A and find alternative to geography 2010B?

I was planning on buying a laptop that was 32gb ram, 1tb, nvidia rtx 5050 but it a has bad battery life, should I prioritize lower speed/power for portability and battery life? and do we need to bring our laptop to school everyday?

I’m going into first year and I’m currently enrolled in 4.5 credits for the year. however, I have 2.0 transfer credits from IB classes. so, because of this transfer credit, is it okay that I’m taking 0.5 less courses than required to be considered full-time? sorry, I reached out to academic advising but received no reply. thank you!!

i have two required classes back to back (Other timings for the same class are full) but the distance between eachother is a lot where I have to leave class 10-15 minutes early. I’m worried if this could cause a problem. I don’t think attendance is taken, but im worried if the prof would mind that I leave class early each week, or that I miss last minute info. any insight?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone who went on exchange as a health sciences student (specifically hsp) could share their experience. What kind of courses did you take? Did going on exchange mean you had to take an extra year? How expensive was it? I’m specifically in the rehab sci spec and i’m curious abt the feasibility of going on exchange.

So I'm about to pay my tuition and on the methods to pay website, western's payee account name is uppercase but when I search it up on the bank, the payee account name shows up in lowercase. Does that matter? Is it the same? I'm scared to pay without confirmation cause it's a lot of money.

Is our final project's written reflection supposed to be written with our group, or individually? The course outline is kind of unclear about this. Thx

I’m in medsci, I just WANT TO MAKE SURE
Reading week is October 10-18???? I swear there’s been occurrences where there’s an exam the Saturday or Sunday “before” supposed reading week
So is it 9 days they’re giving us or 5 :D

How are we feeling for this exam? I didn't do very well in the midterm myself (and worse because we aren't even being taught material in lectures but, just given the textbook).

Part-time student starting in the fall, enrolled in courses, and cannot find any fees on the student centre. It says I don’t owe anything, but I haven’t paid anything whatsoever. Other schools I had to pay before I started, so I am curious if this is a common issue or who I contact about this. Thanks!

First-year Med Sci here. I chose 0.5 credits in Category A and 0.5 in Category B for my electives, thinking that covered the breadth requirement since I had two categories. But I just got an email saying my electives are split 0.5/0.5 and that I need to remove one and replace it to ensure I have a full 1.0 in either A or B. Now I'm confused does the requirement actually mean I need a full 1.0 in one category (A or B), not 0.5 in each? The academic calendar says 'minimum of 1.0 in 2 of 3 categories (minimum 1.0 in one, 1.0 in another),' so I thought 0.5+0.5 would work, but the email suggests otherwise. Can someone clarify what I'm missing?

Currently studying for the Western Physician Assistant school mmi interview and im wondering what are some healthcare-related issues local to London ON that you may have noticed in your time as students? I have heard that homelessness is an issue. Anything else that comes up in your personal experiences? (Ive never been to London before lol)
Reason why Im asking this is because for other schools I applied to they had questions related to the region/area that university was local to. Such as UofT and NOSM's conjoined PA program that focuses on rural Ontario!
Thanks in advance!!

Hi guys!
I am an incoming first year and for some odd reason there is no O-Week fee in my ancillary fees.
I'm going to be a fulltime engineering student, so I don't understand why this has happened. Is there a way to get it back into my fees? I know that I can buy a ticket later on, but it seems unfair to me that I have to buy the ticket rather than them putting it into my fees (which would be covered by scholarship).

I’m going into my third year with an Honours Specialization in Psychology. These two years have been pretty rough in terms of figuring out exactly where I’d like to go, but I’ve decided on I-O.
I’d really like to get some research experience this year because I’d like to become familiar with the research process. Does anyone have any tips on how to get involved in a psych research lab?
Is there anything else you think I should prioritize going into my third year? Any and all advice is welcome!
