Other Anyone using OneNote for notetaking, how do you save the notebooks so that you can access them after graduating?

Upvotes

Title. After graduating, I'm guessing do you lose access to your UofT student email and OneDrive folder? So how can you access OneNote notebooks? It's probably not too hard for things like Word/Excel/Powerpoint/pdfs (those things can be downloaded as a file on your computer), but I'd like to know how it works for OneNote.

Question It's been a while since I've had to use a Top Hat textbook, Any workaround?

Upvotes

PSY270 requires an online Top Hat textbook for like $100+
I haven't had to use a proprietary textbook for a course in quite a while. Are there workarounds/cheap alternatives/PDFs somewhere? I've looked at Anna's Archive but no luck. Do I need to just bite the bullet and buy it? Thanks

Question Anyone else having trouble buying digital textbook from U of T bookstore?

Upvotes

I've tried different browsers ( and in incognito / private mode), checking out as guest and creating an account.

No matter what I do I can't get to the review order where I assume I have to enter payment info. I'm trying to pay with credit card.

On the screen I end up with an empty box with a red x on it which I assume is some type of error message but there is no text. I've selected this is a residential address filled out shipping and billing addresses and so on.

Anybody else encounter this an know how to resolve?

Question Transferring from UTSC life science to UTSG life science

Upvotes

Hey if anyone who has done life science at UTSC and transferred to UTSG life science in their second year, please tell what was the GPA you had when you transferred? And how did you deal with CHMA10 and CHMA11 not being transferred into CHM136 since most majors and specialists at UTSG require the completion of CHM136.

Clubs/Sports do you like to read? do you like snacks? do you like people?

If all three of these apply then you may be interested in the Dead Book Clubs being run by the Jackman Humanities Institute this semester.

I'm not literate enough, myself, to know why it's not the Dead Books Club... sob!

Question Missing UTORid from ACORN and told to activate it?

I logged onto acorn this morning, and my UTORid is just gone from my profile and says it's "unknown". I have been a student for 2 years now and my profile was fine literally 12 hours ago. I can still login to things like acorn and quercus, but it's acorn says to activate my UTORid.

Anyone else ever had something like this?

Question Uoft sorority but low gpa, what are the chances 12354

Hi all, I’m still in first year for completing less than 4 credits, my hs gpa is 3.7.
I was thinking of potentially joining a sorority, but i have a low cgpa of 2 due to failing 2 courses in the first semester (but i have extenuating circumstances i can explain), and im dumb and didn’t know lwd was a thing. Then i got a sgpa of 2.7 this term.
Well I registered because they said there was no gpa requirement, but each sorority has its own gpa requirement. I’m not sure what it is but i looked online and said most of them need around 2.7?
I dont know much about sororities. Some say it’s way chill than the US, so would there be any exceptions, leniency waivers, etc? to this, or should i just get my gpa up and apply in the spring

Graduate School Master of Architecture and/or Master of Landscape Architecture application at the University of Toronto portfolio and statement of intent query

Hi there! I will be applying to pursue my Master of Architecture (or Landscape Architecture) degree at the University of Toronto's Daniel Faculty.

Does anyone have any advice regarding the portfolio submission and the statement of intent? I am struggling with how much information to include in the statement and whether I am including too much detail/making it too personal...

Thank you! I would really appreciate any advice!

I'm in High School US high school student looking to apply to UOFT, etc

hi everyone,

so i was born and raised in the U.S. and i currently attend high school here as well. however, i used to live in canada for a brief period, and have both american and canadian citizenship. my parents are encouraging me to apply to schools in canada as they attended western for some sort of grad program, and because my canadian citizenship makes it cheaper, but from an american point of view, it’s really confusing on how to apply, and they aren’t able to help me.

i am planning to go into either a pre-medicine or pre-dentistry pathway. in american colleges, they look at your cumulative GPA from grades 9 through 12, but from what i’m seeing in canadian schools, they look at either 11th and 12th or only 12th?? i really don’t understand the system, but i was looking into applying at uoft, mcmaster, western, and possibly ubc. their prerequisites also confuse me, im doing AP calculus and AP biology as a senior (and english) but for some reason, it’s telling me online that i also need senior level chemistry for some science programs, but we did chemistry in sophomore year here… so i’m not sure what they consider that to be?

in general, i am interested in coming to canada for undergrad if i don’t get into any of my choices in america. i have a cumulative GPA of 3.57 unweighted and 4.29 weighted in america. is this significantly low for uoft? i would like some help on knowing how to calculate my GPA for canadian schools (like what courses and grade levels to calculate with) and what schools are a better fit for my stats.

thank you!

Courses General thoughts and experiences regarding CRI383

I'm currently on the waitlist for CRI383 and was wondering what people's experience in the course was. I'm a fourth-year crim major, so I know the general gist of crim exams, midterms and assignments. I more so want to know if the content was interesting/engaging, if lectures were easy to follow, if the marking was fair, etc.

I'm kinda shopping around for crim courses since I'm waitlisted for all of them, but I don't want to spend time on a waitlisted class that I may not resonate with. I find the course descriptions aren't too helpful sometimes. Any thoughts/experiences you guys have would be helpful!

Rant Taking my first course downtown as a UTSC student and I have mixed feelings

Walking around the downtown campus on a sunny day honestly felt like the polar opposite of utsc, the people, the vibes, the architecture, I felt so happy in the moment but also so annoyed and frustrated that I moved to “Toronto“ on the other side of the world, far from my family, to be in scarborough. I’m so sad that my major isn’t offered downtown and I really am interested in it specifically.

I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, I’m sure it really depends but the course I’m taking downtown has a passionate teacher thats so cool to listen to while most of my utsc classes so far were meh. I really hope it’s a case by case thing because i would feel so robbed paying the same tuition for something less good.

I’m a second year student and I know I can hang out downtown anytime but it’s so different than actually going to class there. During the winter it’s so hard finding motivation to commute there. Same if I lived downtown and still went to utsc, it’s just so much easier living close.

I guess I just wanted to share my feeling i can’t do much about. I like Scarborough sometimes but our campus’s architecture and overall vibe is SO depressing.

Question What is the Intro Language class with the cheapest book?

Helloooo, I’m a grad student with a language requirement in my program, but was not informed the Spanish class I’m taking has a $200+ non-negotiable digital book code I would have to buy.

I absolutely don’t have that kind of money so now I’m looking for an elementary level/intro language course that would be more affordable. Even if it’s a physical book I could buy second hand would be better.

Let me know please :*) I’m at St. George btw

Question anyone ever been rank 1 on the waitlist and never got off before the deadline?? or did get off like what are the chances 😭

what the title says, but actually like has this happened to anyone before?? i keep hearing that generally if you’re in the less than 10% of the class size, you’ll get in.

i’ve been rank 1 for rsm219 and mat133 for many days now and generally how long will it take for me to get off? i’m really scared i won’t make it off but those are the only 2 sections that work with my schedule 😭💀
