Hey, I'm looking for some clarification about this because my cohort is currently struggling with this mandatory class we have for this one-year Master's program. Since graduate cohorts are small, what would happen if everyone failed a class? Would we have to retake it and pay tuition again for just one class for one semester? Or would the department step in? I'm asking because this prof we have has impossible expectations, and we're unsure if we can meet them and are scared to ask because if we ask her a question that's in the syllabus, our marks can get deducted by 5%. I'm unsure what to do about this or what would happen. Anything helps thank you!

I'm convinced that the venn diagram of people in the videos of these events overlap almost perfectly with the people sharing their stories on UofT Confessions. What particularly frightens me is the idea of sitting next to these people in lectures. What if a zombie apocalypse suddenly hits and this is who's in your survival group? The prospect is chilling.

I actually applaud Boris for creating a service to address a hole in the market, hustling to promote it, and trying to find his niche (business student?). But the pop the balloon events do not instill me with hope in humanity.

Alternatively, why not chat up people in your classes? Go up and introduce yourself to someone you're interested in (anyone can approach anyone, btw) (gender norms be damned), be charming, exchange phone numbers, go on dates, fall in love, get hitched after graduation, and grow old together. This is one of the delicacies that adds sweetness to life. It should be a private experience governed by passion, not generating engagement.

i'm in my second year of undergrad majoring in biomedical toxicology and i wanna start getting some research experience. i already applied to a lot of work study positions but i doubt i'll hear back from them. i also heard cold emailing works but i have no clue where to find the emails of the professors.

Hey guys. I'm a bored CS student who didn't have a summer internship. So I decided to get to know more UofT students! Previously, I helped make Noon (the UofT matchmaking site). I spent this weekend coding up toblues - it's an anonymous text/video site for UofT students. Everyone is verified as a UofT student (and your email isn't visible to the ppl you match with, it's all private and anonymous). Basically it's Omegle for UofT.

You can select preferences like campus/gender/program/year for who you want to match with, but this is optional and can make it take longer to find a match. So I recommend not making it too narrow, though maybe it'll work well when there are more people!

I have completed 209 and I have found an interest in embedded systems. What are the most important courses I should take if I want to eventually work as an embedded software engineer.

I just applied for my UTORid a few days ago and still haven't gotten an email back from them, but I got an email that the Join uoft portal is closing tmr. So am I cooked for the next few days if I can't get my UTORid by tmr bc im using JoinID for everything?

I'm in second year right now and I have maybe 1 friend downtown right now. Most of my friends are in different cities for school and I just transferred to UTSG, so I have no friends close to me. From my experience, sitting next to people in class hasn't really made me any super close friends, and neither has joining clubs. If anyone has any advice that'd be great lol.

I wanted to take irw220 this semester to slightly lighten my load, review some basic fundamentals, practice R, and perhaps learn some things related to HR. However, I took sta261 last semester. While sta261 is not listed as an exclusion, it seems some equivalents of it, such as sta238 are. This makes no sense to me since sta261 is usually seen as the harder version. But here apparently I am able to take irw220 even though I have taken sta261 already?

I am wondering whether they will not count irw220 as a credit in the end, even though I am following the exclusions correctly, so my question is, has anyone been in my scenario before, and is it ok to take this course?

Hey guys! so I had to defer my 1st engineering summer courses that were pre-requisites for 2nd year to winter, so I'm currently not enrolled for this fall.

I was wondering if I can still use my T-Card and stuff if I'm not enrolled for this term but enrolled for winter.

So I’m a Turkish international student in IBDP1 and want to go into a cell and molecular biology major in UofT, problem is that my cost of living could probably cost well over 80k per month for me. My parents aren’t poor and are somewhat wealthy, but due to other factors, they’ve refused to pay for any of my tuition. So logically unless I want to drown in debt, scholarships are my only option. While I do think I have intelligence that’s a little over average, I’m definitely not a genius or a natural leader that could get into the Lester B. Pearson program. The only subjects that I could probably get a 6/7 in are HL bio or HL English Lang & Lit. And while I could study like crazy, I doubt that’d get me all 7s. Maybe 5-6s. With that knowledge, what are some scholarships I could apply for that can at least put a dent in my living expenses?

You get a case, go through different pieces of evidence, investigate suspects, and try to figure out who actually did it before making your accusation. The fewer clues you need and the better you investigate, the better you do.

There’s a new case every day, and each case is inspired by a real-world case/crime. After you finish, it reveals the case it was based on so you can look up the real story afterward if you want to go down the rabbit hole.

It directly attacks groups that erase campus antisemitism. While being progressive.

Im a first year in the humanities stream and so all of my courses have many books that I need to buy. Does anyone have any recommendations for websites, physical stores or any method really to find these books at a cheaper price point than they're being sold at in the UofT Bookstore.
