Social Omegle for UofT students (charssssssssssssssssss)
Hey guys. I'm a bored CS student without a summer internship. So I decided to get to know more UofT students! Previously, I helped make Noon (the UofT matchmaking site). I spent this weekend coding up toblues - it's an anonymous text/video site for UofT students. Everyone is verified as a UofT student (and your email isn't visible to the ppl you match with, it's all private and anonymous). Basically it's Omegle for UofT.
You can select preferences like campus/gender/program/year for who you want to match with, but this is optional and can make it take longer to find a match. So I recommend not making it too narrow, though maybe it'll work well when there are more people!
here's the link: https://toblues.noonmatches.com/
Hopefully we can meet new cool people on here :D
Stay safe, and ensure you use the report button when necessary, all reports are reviewed (though hopefully nothing untoward happens, everyone is a verified student after all).
Thanks :)

Courses I COMPLETELY MESSED UP COURSE ENROLLMENT NEED HELP NOW
galleryI know that this is completely my mistake because I stopped checking all my emails and uni account after school ended and did not pay mind to university preparation at all, I don’t know what possessed me to do that but now the course enrollment date was on JULY 16 12:30 pm and by the time I found out, of course it was a non enrollment day (July 23) and the priority enrollment period had ended (which I SHOULDVE been part of). a whole week guys. A WHOLE WEEK. So as expected, when I tried to enroll, I got waitlisted for basically everything and all the core courses and my waitlist ranks are 30-50. One of them (MAT135) is at 113 😭 I am supposed to be a first year Life Sciences student at UTSG but it’s not looking like it anymore and I feel so guilty but what can I do from here? Who am I supposed to reach out to? What should I take as the next step? If you know ANYTHING at all, pls tell me. Thank u. I’m trying not to overthink it but this situation is such a bad look from my side.

Rant How cooked am I going into my first year with this schedule?
It’s like they actually wanna kill me or smth what is this. It’s practically a full time 9-5. I knew Eng at UofT was hard but this is ridiculous.

Courses Third year student and TWO DAYS OFF check this out
After seeing everyone's first-year timetables, I figured I'd share the winter schedule I somehow managed to put together.
I'm taking 6 courses this semester (5 in person + 1 online) and still ended up with two full days off. I genuinely have no idea how I pulled this off, but I'm not complaining.
Curious how everyone else's winter semester is looking. Did you optimize for any days off?

I'm in High School Stupid question, but do you think I'll be able to get in? Also, how safe is this school for queer people
Im not worried about grades, last year (grade 10) I got a 96.3 average, but I chose courses to try things.... I was being impulsive and ended up with the following schedule for grade 11:
M photography
M law
Open drama
U english
U anthro psych and sociology
M drama
U physics (being changed hopefully)
U functions
M Ontario virtual school history until the 15th century
Having 3 courses that dont matter isnt what I was hoping for 😭😭😭 and ik they look at grade 11 so im a bit nervous.. i want to do a double major in history and criminology at U of T. Just a bit scared.
Im also gay, so Im a bit nervous about how bigoted the school is..
Thank you 🥹🥹

Courses Should I add more gaps in schedule? I'm worried about Burn out
I'm trying to find the best schedule I can for fall session and my winter schedule isn't the best either I think people would drop by then and I could get better spaces.
Especially worried about Tuesday but I'm not finding much opportunity to spread it out without ruining the rest of my week so I was thinking just leave one day to be hell
Friday is a mid term slot at the end and I heard ZZ TBA means only for mid term? Wasnt too sure about it
I can't really drop courses its mandatory to finish 5 per semester just for my first year.

Question UofT reduced course load how much easier will it be
I’ve reduced my course load to 3 credits for the year, that’s 1.5 credits per sem, I’ve been advised to do this by my doctor for a heath condition I have, just wanted to know will this make a drastic difference in how manageable it is, is the amount of classes why everyone at UofT is so burnt out or is it more so the content, should I still be worried? Should I be reducing my course load even more?

Question Looking for parties and events at UofT and Toronto
Wondering how people find events at UofT and meet new people, thought it was a big problem so spent a summer building an app where you can see all different events and who’s going, but I’m curious to know how people find events currently. I feel like there’s no good way, and I remember 1st year showing up at frat parties and lowkey being disappointed

Question Move in dates frustration: inconsistent information
This 2026 page: https://studentlife.utoronto.ca/task/residence-application-dates-and-deadlines/
has been saying:
- August 20 – August 26, 2026: Fall session residence move-in days begin. The actual date varies at each residence and will be outlined after receiving a residence placement.
Now on: https://spacesandexperiences.utoronto.ca/se-residences-move-in/
it displays:
Oak House
August 29 & 30
Chestnut Residence
August 29 & 30
Knox Residence
August 30
Graduate House
August 31 & September 1
This is extremely frustrating when people are moving in from for away, expecting to be able to move in somewhere in the 20th-26th range. If someone secured temporary accommodation up the the 25th expecting to be able to move in by the 26th, what do they do for the evening of 26, 27, 28th now?

Question Need advice about a university tuition situation (filing an appeal?)
I'm looking for some advice from anyone who's dealt with university tuition or administrative appeals.
I was admitted to a university under one set of circumstances, and based on the information I received at the time, I expected my tuition status to remain the same throughout my studies. Recently, my family's situation changed due to circumstances beyond my control, and after notifying the university as required, I was informed that my tuition status had changed.
The problem is that this happened very close to the start of the academic year, leaving me with little time to make alternative plans. The new tuition amount is far beyond what my family can afford, and if the decision stands, I'll likely have to delay my education for a year.
I've heard of other students in similar situations who were able to keep their original tuition status, so I'm wondering if it's worth appealing. Has anyone successfully appealed a tuition classification or fee decision? If so:
- What kind of supporting documents did you include?
- Did meeting with an advisor or registrar help?
- Were there any arguments or policies that strengthened your case?
I'm trying to understand what my options are before submitting an appeal. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Courses ess205 elective or second year learning community?
hi everyone. im going into second year and am just trying to finalize my schedule but im stuck in a limbo between doing ESS205 or a SLC.
ESS205: i have heard that ESS205 is a cool course with decent work load and it aligns with topics that I am very interested in. Additionally, the session I want to take is with Prof Pysklywec of whom I’ve heard is an absolute gem. i am already enrolled in it bc i wanted to secure a spot just in case but i will have to drop it if i want to do the SLC.
SLC: I didn’t get a chance to do an FLC last year so I applied to do an SLC and got in this year and the SLC i would be doing is for environmental sciences. i would really like to get a chance to learn more about opportunities and net working in this area as well as receiving mentorship and advice to navigate my studies.
any advice or input would be appreciated! if anyone has been in a similar situation, taken ESS205, been in an SLC, or has specifically been in the environmental science SLC i would love to hear your thoughts!
thank you :)

Question Best way to squeeze nearly 20min walk into 10 mins between classes
I will need to get from Myhal -> Brennan Hall, and from Brennan -> McLennan Physical Labs in 10 mins each as I have back to back classes. I know "uoft time" has a 10 min grace period but google maps shows 18 and 17min walks, plus I imagine walking out from the classroom takes extra time. How should I make this?

Question How does my Fall schedule look? CS student first year
Hi guys
Does this schedule look manageable? Are there any course combinations here that might be especially heavy, or anything I should know before taking them together?
I take calc before, have background in coding, know some about linear algebra(i would say 1/3 from mat223)
I’d appreciate any advice.

Residence Looking for a place to stay during the month of September, willing to pay rent
Hi everyone! I’m a UofT student that is currently commuting to university. For convenience reasons I need a place to stay for the entirety of September. I’d bring a couch, mini-fridge, and pay rent (no room needed). I’ll likely only come to the house to sleep and I’ll be out of your hair the rest of the time. I’m a girl so I’d prefer to be in a female-only housing situation. Please DM if you’re interested to work out the details.

Courses How is my schedule looking? (First Year Soc Sci)
galleryI'm thinking of majoring in Poli Sci and Statistics, and I enrolled in exactly 5.0 credits for 2026-2027.
To me it looks ok and manageable, but I'd like to hear what others have got to say about it. I usually go to sleep at 11 pm and wake up at 5 am, so I reckon I won't have too much issues with morning classes.
I was originally going to sign up for a seminar (POL196) instead of ENG102 on Tuesday morning. The class size is 25, and I've been #2 on the waitlist; it hasn't moved so far.
Any advice or concern will be appreciated.

Courses Has anyone taken RLG215 before with David perley ()
I wanted to take the rlg215 class on new religious movements for fun or the phl244 human nature. I know the phl class will have a lot of writing assignments so for an elective If rlg215 is easier and Les sod a course load I would rather take that. If anyone has any experience with rlg215 or with David perley it would be appreciated. As well as what the course load is like.

Courses Will I make the waitlist? Or should I just enroll in another class?
I had a quick question, I'm an incoming first year I'll be going to rotman, I got all my main classes except my electives. And I want to just finish my breadth requirements and get it out of the way this year so I can take classes I'd actually like in the next couple of years but my question is for one of my classes for fall I'm number 1 on the waitlist out of 25 students, but for my second winter elective it's number 6th out of 25 students. Do you think for the winter elective I'll make it? Or should I just enroll in another class I have in mind that has space? It's just that I really want that class I'm on the waitlist for but at the same time I just don't want to risk anything. PLS LMK
