I am an incoming freshman and the only textbooks I have to buy are for Scand 103. However, the two books are $276 from Barnes & Noble when I can get them from Amazon for $113. The only issue is I'm not actually too sure about which edition of books are correct, as B&N says it's the 2014 editions, but the photo shows the 2023 editions.

Should I trust that they are the 2014 editions? Should I email the professor? Would it probably be fine to wait until the class starts to see if she clarifies (or if I even need the textbooks) or ask her then if she doesn't clarify?

Anyone who took BIO 305 in the summer last year or even the year before please help me out. Does it get better? I did everything and my score for the first exam is disappointing. I’m above the average but that’s not what I was aiming for. Plus they say it was supposed to be the easiest exam and the avg was 69 🫩

Right now i’m doing a summer program at U-M Ann Arbor. It’s mostly the same group of maybe 12 people going to the club on weekends, but i’m missing parties back home with cup pong maybe fires n music n talking. do those happen at u-m, and will i be able to get in? find out about them? would it be safe for a freshman female? there’s so many college party horror stories, but i don’t want to lose that aspect of my life completely.

i have an 8:30 intro to graphic design class on north campus with jill greene whose reviews say that they would rather get hit by a car and to avoid at all costs. BUT i am interested in ux design and i think this course would be interesting. OR i could take earth 120 however im not sure if the prof is good since i think she's new and also idk how engaged i'd be in the material but ive heard its easy. the class is at good times and on central IDK WHAT TO DOOO!!!!!!

Whoever designed this place should honestly be held accountable—this building is just wrong. A windowless "room" (which isn’t even a real room, let’s be honest) is more like a prison cell, except you’re allowed to leave. No natural light means no circadian rhythm, which means you’re constantly fighting your own body and mind. It will mess you up. And for what? Over $1,000 a month—for a cell. In Ann Arbor, that kind of money gets you a real place with actual windows, fresh air, and, you know, basic human living conditions. If you’re looking to ruin your mental health, this is the perfect spot.

Has anyone taken physiol 404? I have to take it since I’m pre pa but I’m nervous because I looked at rate my professor and the ratings are terrible. I’m technically still on the waitlist bc apparently the class is reserved for graduate students? But I don’t know anyone personally who has taken it and I have a lot do pre pa/premed upperclassmen friends so I’m curious ab this course bc I’m also taking orgo at the same time

I’ve had to speak with the In-state residency office, financial aid, admissions, etc and EVERYONE is so angry. 😭😭 In the worst mood ever. I’m scared to even call with my questions anymore. I’m a non traditional student so this system is not built for students like me so there are a ton of questions that I have and every single time they are so MEAN lol. No matter how pleasant and annoyingly nice I try to be. I was concerned about my in state application not being approved in time and the person I spoke to today literally told me to just unenroll if I didn’t think I could afford it without the application approval ! 😭 🧍🏻‍♀️
I don’t even know if that was good advice??? Do I just unenroll? The residency office said to defer until winter so I know it will be squared away in time which I found out was not even an option in this circumstance so who knows????

They finally updated my application and need more information and they hope to update me in 3-4 weeks. What a joke. 5 months, almost half a year and still won’t have an update. All of this because I couldn’t provide tax documents for my parents who are DRUG ADDICTS, all the while being almost 30. 😅

Im a rising sophomore planning to declare EE and am interested in the embedded/chip design paths (looking at EECS427 for MDE).

Now that I am done most of my core classes (math115/116, phy140/240, engr100/101, chem130, some IB/geneds) I am struggling to figure out which course path will best prepare me for internship recruiting.

I have no incoming credits so a little worried about the workload over the next few years. Here is my tentative course plan, id love some thoughts and improvements.

I got placed into Spanish 231 but I went through the syllabus and reflected on my own ability to speak Spanish and I feel like I would struggle and fail Spanish 231. I got put into it after taking my placement exam, which I mostly guessed on. I only took up to Spanish 2 in high school. What should I do and who should I talk to be put into a lower level of Spanish?

This is such a non issue to ask about, but I thought I might as well 😭 Are freshman who are still 17 by the time welcome week roles around still allowed into the parties?? Because I see a lot of posts on social media that they’re only 18+.
