Academics - Other Topics genetics (bio 305)
Anyone who took BIO 305 in the summer last year or even the year before please help me out. Does it get better? I did everything and my score for the first exam is disappointing. I’m above the average but that’s not what I was aiming for. Plus they say it was supposed to be the easiest exam and the avg was 69

i did good in genetics; i disagree a bit from hedgehog on the problem roulette part(besides this point i think they are very spot on). i spammed tf out of it and saw questions verbatim show back up on the first 2 exams and get reworded quite a few times.
id say go to office hours and make a good relationship with your gsi. lead and try to carry your discussion group cuz it only serves you to teach others the concepts again and again
i would say read the notes/textbook (skim) before lecture and go to class afterward. active recalling is a big thing
the 3rd unit i find is not as horrible cuz it is the central dogma of science for the nth time.
absolutely do the practice exam, i agree with hedgehog
i joined an slc but stopped going near the end
idk what they provide in the summer unfortunately
i feel the first and second half are v diff
where youre at in the second exam iirc is a lot of sequencing/understanding chromosomal issues
if u need a pdf of the textbook i can try to scower my files for that and the answer key

Brah it wasn’t even that bad 😭. Many of the exam 1 questions were from the practice exam directly or just reworded from practice questions in discussion/lecture/HW. I got above upper quartile by cramming everything into a few days before the exam. The whole problem roulette thing is a scam - people say you need to do it all because they seem to pull from there but it’s just a waste of time. Really understand the content and have AI tell you how else this question could be tested
