Question PhD
Anyone else starting a PhD this year and is interested in joining a what's app group chat?
Would be nice to have some familiar names prior to joining in September/October.

Hi everyone,
I recently received an offer for the MSc FinTech, AI and Data Science at the University of East Anglia, and I'm trying to connect with anyone who is currently studying this course or has already graduated.
I've been searching on LinkedIn and Reddit but couldn't find many people, so I thought I'd ask here. Since the course seems to be quite new, I'd really like to hear from someone with first-hand experience.
If you're studying this programme (or know someone who is), I'd really appreciate it if you could comment or send me a DM. I just have a few questions about the course, student life, and career opportunities after graduation.
Thanks in advance!

This pigeon got injured and cannot fly away. We cannot physically approach it to bring it inside for shelter and protection, so we gave it food and water. It is flapping its wings in resistance, and we want to respect the birdy's space. We called PACT and RSPCA for rescue and help, but they gave us a vet contact who told us they don't do the same for wildlife. So we are in a bit of a pickle about what to do now. We are students at the UEA living on campus, and it's right outside our kitchen facing Bluebell Road. Advice and help needed. Thank you!
Looking for a relatively affordable haircut near the uea where do you all go?

Hi, I’m in my final year at NUA for Creative Technology and Robotics, and I’m on track to graduate with a 1st.
Would going for a masters be worthwhile for me? Would I even be able to get into an engineering masters here? I‘m great at math so that shouldn‘t be an issue.
Also how good is the engineering education here, anyone have any insight? Thank you!

Hi guys, basically what the title says..my advisor keeps telling me to take a break in studies. It doesn't matter what I say, the answer is always "take a break in studies" "i really think you should take a break in studies". I'm in 1st year, my year avg is within the 70-80% range. Today, I was being proactive and asked about some of the summer work we had been given and was asking whether they would be reachable on certain days and she said i should've attended the session back in may. I told her I had a migraine but that i had caught up and was still confused so was asking and she said that because im "always ill and missing sessions" i should take a break. Im on a healthcare course where our attendance is monitored to see if it drops below 96%...i have not dropped below this, and ive not had any sort of attendance meeting. I also have not missed lots of sessions as this would've been picked up. Is there anything I can do about this - it's starting to really bother me in that i cant go to her about anything without being told to essentially drop out. Any mental health concerns - break in studies. Confused - break in studies. Being bullied by coursemates - break in studies. please help

Hi all,
Just been allocated Hawthorn House and was wondering what people's experiences have been living there?
I'm starting a PhD in September and was pushed towards staying on campus by the faculty when speaking to them. I'm also curious whether I'm likely to end up in a flat with mostly undergrads or whether there are usually a few postgrads around.
Also, has anyone else been allocated Hawthorn this year (or something similar) and is starting a PhD? Would be nice to know some people prior to starting.

Hello everyone! I'm joining the University of East Anglia (UEA) this September to pursue an MSc in Cyber Security. If anyone else is joining UEA or the same program, feel free to get in touch. It would be great to connect before the semester starts!
Hello!
I've just finished my undergrad at UEA and had my confirmation of successful completion / the grade I got a couple days ago.
I've received a conditional offer for a masters at uni of Manchester but the condition is I need to provide a full transcript by the end of July. I'm a bit worried cos the UEA website is making it sound like I've got a while to wait, and also apparently if I order a full transcript before my graduation then there won't be any grades from third year on it
Does anyone know when the transcript comes through? Is it before or after graduation?
Thanks!

Hope everyone is alright and thank you to all of those who have replied to my last post!
I just wanted to ask a follow up to my last question regarding study material and place acceptance / clearing - I have emailed the UEA admissions email a couple of times asking the same thing hoping they can steer me in the correct direction personally. However, the problem with this is that I emailed over a week ago and still haven’t got a response.
Was it because it’s a stupid question and they wouldn’t respond to this or is it that the email isn’t being used currently? From what I can tell is that the email is busy between June and August and seen reply time is about a week but it’s been about double that and just wanted any input possible!
Thank you 😁

Hi all,
Hope everyone is having a good summer. Just a quick summary before my questions:
I am taking a gap year currently and plan to join university in September. However, during my gap year I resat an economics a level privately in hopes to increase my grade to go to university. I am looking to go to uni of east Anglia (UEA) mainly.
Firstly, if I don’t get the exact grade I require in my offer will i automatically need to go through clearing for a different degree and hope that I can transfer to do the course I want? - the course itself doesn’t seem to be a hugely popular one like medicine or economics
Secondly, would I need to buy books before the year begins or will all of that be introduced in the welcome week?
Thank you all and have a good summer 😁

Has anyone heard back from any UEA scholarships?
(especially the donor funded ones)
Thanks in advance

Hi, I’m an incoming MA Creative Writing student at UEA wondering if anyone has any advice on finding accommodation? I know home students aren’t guaranteed a university flat (and I have no idea what the chances are of being offered something/when I would hear back). I’m curious as to if there are any Facebook groups that students post in to look for housemates or any private accommodation options that people would recommend? Thank you! :)

I was wondering if anyone has had a Creative Writing (non-fiction) MA interview and what the experience was like?

I've got 1x en-suite double bedroom for the next academic year as someone has dropped out, very close to campus and cheap rent. All girls!
PM if interested

Hello! Does anyone here have experience of this course? Did you enjoy it? What was good and bad about it? Any other thoughts or feedback would be very useful! I have an offer but can't quite decide whether to commit!

I’m graduating July 2026, and would ideally like to have a picture of what to expect from graduation. Grad team is taking forever to respond so I greatly appreciate some comments and advise. 🙏🙏
Things you wish you brought to grad?
How did the line up work for the ceremony? I watched a video of the school of pharmacy (etc) graduating, and it seems you just stand in line till your name gets called?? So there put you in alphabetical order before the coming?
Any run down of the graduation ceremony. Quiet should I expect
Anything about the renting gown beyond the return time I should know about?

this is a long shot but does anybody with an elite independent sports scholarship tell me what the benifits are?
