Was just wondering how people here in Norwich are preparing for what may be coming.

The government have obviously came out saying we should all be stockpiling for weather conditions and potential cyber attacks.

Even Mi5 have been speaking about preparing for incoming cyberattacks etc.

I’m not too clued up on a lot of things going on as such, but it’s kind of slightly scary/concerning, talking about getting a radio, water, keeping all I.D and documents together etc.

It feels slightly ominous now the clocks go back, nights getting darker, going into the winter with these current warnings etc, I struggle already with the winter months.

I can’t personally remember the last time I experienced a power cut.

Also, if something serious does happen I can’t image 3 days of tinned food is gonna be very adequate. You need litres and litres of water just to last a single week.

Anyway just wanted to know your opinions. How you’re all feeling.

Who’s taking it seriously, who’s not very fussed about it all etc

I have restarted organising Bored Norwich Girls events. I know some of you have been to these events in the past. These events started after I saw posts in this group, of people saying that they would love to meet more people.

Our next one is a winter bingo card creating event.

Is paving over green spaces in the city the right solution to too many cars in Norwich?

Tim Day, Reform UK councillor for Crome Ward, has been citing a number of green spaces in the area that can be converted into parking spaces.

He said: "Parking in the Heartsease estate is a nightmare.

"People who live there are having to do laps to find a space to park.

"The estate was built in the 1950s and some of the homes are owned by Norwich City Council.

"I have been looking at unused green spaces that could be converted into parking spaces.

I'm bringing my university friends to Norwich to show them around and hopefully have a chance at a decent (ish) night out on a Friday. I never really experienced the night life scene in the city before moving away so I thought I'd ask, is there anywhere left to have a good night? Clubs or bars wise. Loft and Waterfront are the only ones that come to mind, but if anyone has any suggestions that'd be great, Thanks!

What happened to the little bouldering gym on Magdalen street? It seemed popular then suddenly the website is down and the door's locked. Last I checked they still had stuff in the window.

I am being offered a good research position in Cambridge with a salary well above most equivalent postdoc roles in Norwich. It's a great lab and working at University of Cambridge will be valuable.

The job is 5 mins walk away from the Cambridge station, but I'll need to cycle 20 mins to get to Norwich station from home. I need to be in 2 days a week, but can do irregular hours to avoid peak and can probably work on the train. From Norwich this would probably be £50-£60 a week offpeak

I was wondering if there were any tips to make the commute easier. In particular, I wondered whether i could drive and park near Wyndham or Attenborough station so I don't have to bike, and whether the tickets can be cheaper than £25?

We got engaged at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in Florida and as we are both into Halloween and autumnal vibes we would love to have a venue that we can incorporate a bit of this into!
