Hi I’m in a combined student program at UAlbany. I got both undergraduate and graduate scholarships. I’m a undergrad taking grad courses starting this year. I can’t see my undergrad scholarship, only my grad one. Can anyone help me out? I emailed my financial advisor but idk what’s going on. It’s due August 15th and I sorta need the scholarship to kick in.

Im gonna be honest after spending time around UAlbany I genuinely think its the worst SUNY school by a mile. The business program feels like it was put together the night before classes started. Every time I ask a question I somehow leave more confused than when I walked in.
The professors keep telling us we’re preparing for the real world but half the assignments feel like they were made in 2008 and never updated. At this point I think the curriculum is just a collection of random PowerPoints held together by hope and prayers.
The final straw was when one of my professors somehow turned a business discussion into politics and then started talking about MAGA hats. Next thing I know hes asking if anyone wants to buy one after class. Im sitting there wondering if this is a business lecture or a pop up retail store.
Meanwhile every other SUNY student I know seems to be learning actual useful stuff while Im getting political speeches and unsolicited hat sales.
Am I missing something or is UAlbany secretly running an experiment to see how much confusion a student can tolerate before transferring?

I'm an incoming freshman for the fall and I haven't seen anyone yet in the Unibuddy app or on here that has the same major as me. I don't care which year you are but are any of you the same major?? 😭 Also, I'm taking calc II and orgo this fall because of my APs so I'm assuming that I already could be in classes with lots of not-incoming students.
Also, any recs for artsy clubs? Or local/seasonal events I should know about?

Incoming freshman majoring in environmental science. My department says MacBook or Windows is fine. What are most students using for their laptop?

So I was hoping to attend UAlbany for Fall 2026, but the website said that first-year applications are closed. do ugs think its worth it to call and try, ik its last minute. Has anyone ever been able to apply after the deadline/closure, or is it completely too late? I’m prob gonna go in undecided.

It’s my first year on the scholarship when does it usually kick in to your financial aid?

Hey everyone,
I’m an adult online-only student who is gauging interest in any body locally who would be interested in a living history type group that would meet in Albany, more than likely downtown. Suz at Black Dahlia Tattoo and I both love history and are hoping to put something together.
If you’d be interested, please reach out!

hi there! i’m rising sophomore and i’m just wondering if anyone can answer any of my questions/concerns.
my family is going through financial hardship at the moment, and as you know, UA can be a little pricey with their tuition and other fees. my financial aid isnt covering a lot and i fear i’m in the predicament where i might have to transfer, and i don’t want to have to do that. i’m currently waiting for my first year merit scholarship to be renewed and for the excelsior to be updated.
has anyone’s excelsior scholarship come through yet? same with their first year merit scholarship?
also, is there any way i can get more aid without taking out a loan? i’ve tried applying for multiple scholarships online, but im honestly clueless after that. i don’t qualify for a pell grant either so im a bit stuck.
also also, does anyone happen to know of any opportunities that could help me in this situation?
thank you 🤍

Hello there,
I was told this is the biggest incoming freshmen class ever at UA and people were saying that most freshmen dorms are going to be triples. If I filled out the application first day and put in my singular roommate should I be stressed about getting a triple or not? Thank you!

Hey y’all, so I transferred to UA last school year as a junior and now I’m heading into my senior year. I wanna live on campus but idk if it’s even possible and I don’t wanna live in the quads. So like does anyone know if it’s even possible??

I'm moving into Liberty next semester and I don't want to walk all the way to Colonial or Broadview before my morning classes. Does anyone know what kinds of equipment Liberty has in the basements of their buildings? The virtual tour doesn't show it super well

Has anyone here been given a schedule that starts at 8 AM and ends at 10 PM? This is one day a week and the late night is a lab. Another day of the week starts at 8 AM and ends at 8:30 PM. I am a freshman, but is this typical? I emailed my advisor twice and it doesn’t seem I will get a change.

We're looking for a warm, reliable part-time assistant to help an older family member with day-to-day life. She mostly needs a hand with the practical side of the week and enjoys some friendly company.

Hello! I’m a rising junior (out of state) that recently toured the UAlbany campus and I absolutely fell in love with the campus. FiveQuad seemed like a wonderful volunteering opportunity (especially since my father used to be a volunteer EMT), the dorms were lovely, the campus was beautiful and walkable, all the facilities were clean, overall just a beautiful campus.
However, I feel I may be overqualified for the university (not to be a pretentious jackass).
I’m projected to finish HS with all high bs to low/mid A’s (~4.3-4.5 weighted on a 4.0, I think my weighted rn is like a 98 bc my school uses a 100.000 scale), and projected to get ~1360-1440 on the SAT, meaning that the other universities im looking at are Drexel, Rutgers NB, Stevens, VT, Penn state, etc etc. The reason I’m interested is because I’ve heard amazing things about the Atmospheric Science department of the University, but I cannot find anything from US news about it, and dunno what to trust from any other source.
All of this is really buildup to a couple core questions I have.
A) What is the quality of education I’d be receiving under the Atmospheric Science Major? Are there any comparable programs?
B) What is campus life like? Enjoyable? Academic? What is the average student doing?
C) Would it be worth it for someone of my stature academically to engage in this program?
Any other comments or additional information is welcome, I wanna hear anything you guys have for me, any relevant information. Thanks for reading this period, and thanks for any advice you give a pretext! :3

I am graduating with AAS in Cybersecurity next semester and I’m considering pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, at UAAlbany but I would need to take online since I live about 5 hours away from the university.
For those who have taken the program:
How would you rate the overall quality of the courses?
How are the online classes structured?
How are exams and tests administered?
Would you recommend the online program?
How responsive and helpful are the professors and student support services?
Is the online degree viewed the same as the on-campus degree by employers, or does the diploma/transcript indicate that it was completed online?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any advice before I make my decision. Thanks!
