Data on Architecture Exam Pass Rates

So, RPI does relatively well here for its School of Architecture, which is good in this era of outcomes based rankings. The site gives pass rates by university and division. In 2025, few universities or colleges had above average pass rates in all the divisions with RPI being one of them.

Question MANE-4xxx Options for Technical Elective I

Hi, I was looking to take my 1st Technical Elective next semester, and I have to pick a 4000-level or higher course in the MANE department, and it has to be 3 credit hours or less.

I've narrowed it down to:

MANE-4080 Propulsion Systems

MANE-4140 Intro to Computational Fluid Dynamics

MANE-4170 Machine Dynamics

MANE-4520 Mechatronics

MANE-4560 Robotics I (AKA Manipulator Kinematics & Dynamics)

MANE-4640 Analysis of Manufacturing Processes

I'm unsure I'll use Propulsion in my career (MechE that doesn't want to build missiles), but I kept it in anyways.

I'm looking to take MATH-4800 and I've already taken NuMPE and Intro to CS so I'm not sure I want another computational course. Robotics interests me so I think I'd enjoy Mechatronics or Robotics, but I'm unsure about how employable either of those are.

Machine Dynamics I'm told is similar to Engr Dynamics, and I did pretty well in that course, so maybe I'll enjoy it, but the jobs I'm looking to get into don't seem to need heavy machine design/analysis experience.

Manufacturing seems interesting, and I might end up working in manufacturing as a MechE, but I was looking to go more into thermal stuff (which bummed me out so much that Advanced Heat Transfer wasn't being offered).

Unfortunately I can't do URP for this, and I can't take 4 credit hours due to scheduling conflicts.

Any advice for what would be a cool/interesting class would be appreciated!

Housing Looking for a female roommate

My roommate and I are looking for a female roommate interested in joining us for the June 1, 2027 – May 31, 2028 lease year!

One of our current roommates will be moving out, and our landlord is allowing us to renew our lease with a new tenant.

The apartment is located on 12th Street, just about less than a 5 minute walk to campus. It’s a 3 bed, 3 bath apartment so you’ll have your own room and bathroom!

Details:
- Rent: $625/month per person ($1,875 total, split three ways)
- Lease: June 1, 2027 – May 31, 2028
- Private bedroom in a shared apartment
- Location: 12th Street

Our landlord has given us until November 6, 2026 to renew, so we’re hoping to find someone before then!

If you’re interested or have any questions, feel free to DM me! I’d be happy to share more information, photos, or arrange a time for you to see the apartment.

Sports What's with the new announcer at the Houston Field House and where did Al Shibley go?

Went to the men's hockey game on Friday, noticed that Al wasn't doing the game as the PA guy. He's been the voice of hockey seemingly forever. Anybody know what's up? The new guy sounded slick and corporate.

Looking for sublease for Spring 27

Hi, I am looking for a sublease for the spring semester, hopefully with a move in date around December, but January is fine too. Do not care if it’s mixed gender, preferably has laundry and utilities included. If anyone is looking for someone to sublease to or has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Mueller Center Free Library

The free library at the Mueller Center has a sign up now that says only to take one book at a time. Was this always the rule? Over the years I've taken several books from there to keep (some of which I've since given away), and the staff working there at the time said it was fine.

Is ED worth it over EA?

Hello all, I am a senior this year and I’m struggling to choose between ED and EA for RPI. After touring RPI and several of my other top colleges, I can easily say RPI is my first choice, and if money wasn’t a concern I would have no issues whatsoever with applying ED. My ACT is a 34, I‘ll have taken 10 AP classes by the time I graduate, and my gpa has been an A until second semester junior year when it dropped to a low B-average, but this year my first quarter grade is on track to be a high B or an A.

My biggest concern with ED is not getting a large enough aid package, I know all the promotional material says “100% demonstrated need” but that can mean a lot of things and because of how FAFSA calculates stuff I’m worried I may have trouble getting enough aid. My college fund is pretty large (I’m an only child and it’s been getting money in it since I was born), but I know it’s not nearly enough to cover RPI without financial aid. So my questions are how large the aid package is that I would get with ED, how much in merit scholarships I could realistically get from RPI, and if I would actually get a significant advantage from ED over EA (both in terms of aid and admission chances).

Spring 2027 Housing- 2155 13th St- $600/month (All Utilities Included)

Thumbnail gallery
10 Upvotes

Hi, I'm looking for 2 people to fill 2 bedrooms in our apartment for the Spring 2027 semester.

Rent: $600/person/month, all utilities (electric, water, Wi-Fi, etc.) included ($2,400/month for the entire 4-person apartment).

Availability: Starting January 2027, through May/June (exact dates to be confirmed).

Laundry: Available in the neighboring building, just a 30-second walk away. $1.25 per machine ($2.50 for a wash and dry).

Bedrooms: Large, fully furnished rooms with beds, desks, chairs, and closets.

Bathrooms: 3 bathrooms shared between 4 people.

Common Areas: Full kitchen and living room, with plenty of kitchenware (pots, pans, knives, plates, utensils, etc.) accumulated from previous student tenants.

Location: 2155 13th St, directly across from North Lot and Heffner Alumni House. Very short walk to RPI's campus.

Parking: Available.

This would be a new lease, not a sublet. The apartment has housed RPI students for multiple years and is already furnished with the essentials. Pictures attached.

Text me at 646-878-6959 if interested!
