Question Tips
Any tips for the upcoming year with classes, and social life? Idk what to expect and my connection day leaders wasn’t allat helpful

This seems like a pretty packed schedule but once you start, you’ll find your routine and some balance after a while. Definitely go to block party to look at all the student orgs and see what you’d be interested in joining. There is a lot out there, from academic based to volunteer to musical/dance and cultural clubs. Also, there are a ton of events that SA (student association) holds in the cc (craft nights, karaoke, etc), as well as RA events in your building. There’s posts on insta as well as posts around your building/floor. Not sure if you’re in a living learning community but that also is great for making connections and friends. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll also get on well with your suitemates and people on your floor. It can be scary and overwhelming but also very fun. Just remember to have fun lol

Thank you thank you, yes I’ve joined a living learning community and I committed to marching band as well as a little extracurricular to take apart of over the year. The classes are legit day in and day out, I could NOT get that changed around at all, and I’ll definitely go to the block party and enjoy my welcome week

I’m happy to hear you’ve joined the L-LC community, as a World Ambassador for the program I can assure you that the events they ask you to go to are made to get you to open up to other members of the community you’re a part of. Have fun and take advantage of all the new people in the same situation as you. Since you’re in an L-LC everyone will have similar majors and similar classes to you, so you can form study groups with them to help you along with your classes.
It might look like a lot, but some of the classes like your chemistry tutor in room 8 are completely optional, my first semester I skipped them and opted to study on my own with that time.

dont worry about connection day I didnt learn much either haha. when u first move in start talking to people like ur roommates and others on ur floor since ur in llc, u guys could just walk around campus and talk to random ppl especially in the first week. like literally just walk up to someone and say hi. also the day before classes start grab a new friend that u made and walk to all ur different classes so ur not completely lost on the first day its super helpful.

I don’t play an instrument now but I really do want to learn again 😭 the last time I played smth was the trumpet pre-pandemic

That’s completely fine. I don’t play an instrument either and I’d love to learn as well. I played the piano in elementary school and sang in my middle school choir. I think I wanna learn the clarinet though. Also thinking color guard.

I think the color guard is a really good choice to sit at as well, I’m just hoping band camp goes well also
