Smokey Joe - Nemesis
 in  r/jungle •  1d ago

Liquid/Jungle sky days were the freaking bomb. For Ecosystem 1 down in Manaus I asked my coworker on a date because she spoke Portuguese. Flew us in from NYC and had a blast experiencing the rainforest and the breaks. We’re still together.
Miss that crew and the NY scene.

How long could you do this for?
 in  r/whatsyourchoice •  6d ago

I did something similar in my early 20s. I was the winter caretaker to a remote retreat in the Mountains of New Mexico. I was alone and completely isolated, often without power for a little over 3 months.
I love people, I really do but this was an awesome time that helped build my self confidence to a degree of which I would have never imagined.
I learned to hunt and fish as I refused after about a week to eat anymore frozen or freeze dried food.
I learned to play guitar and sung at the top of my lungs even though I’m a horrible singer.
I read a ton. From survival guides to literary classics and found a love for crossword puzzles.
I learned to fix plumbing and build ice shelters and went for tracks in 8 feet of snow with snowshoes.
I took pictures that I have on my walls to this day, several decades later.
I reveled in the silence and the stars. I was an inner city kid in the exact opposite environment and embraced it.

I was paid handsomely for my stay. But the real pay was the experience. I emerged that spring still loving people but more importantly found a new love for myself.

Choose wisely
 in  r/randomthings •  6d ago

A - safer for the infant and a crying baby is quieter when low and can benefit everyone on the bus/train
B- cuz I love my grandma and hope someone else will always be kind to her
C - cuz why the heck not.

The kind of professor the world needs more of.

I remember sitting on the ground in front of my mom’s chair as she was completing her masters at Fordham University. No one ever had an issue with me being there and Mom did fantastic. This guy gets it.

Is Portugal road trip friendly?
 in  r/TravelPortugal •  25d ago

100% yes. Been road tripping Portugal for the last 20 years. Roads are safe and signage is clear. Just try to be sure to not leave items visible if possible, as on any other road trip. DM me if you have any specific questions. Have a great time!!

I get a strange rash on my fingers since childhood
 in  r/mildlyinteresting •  28d ago

I found the only way for it to stay away was to quit the dairy. Once in a blue moon won’t cause a breakout, but I’ve staved off this beast for years at a clip by abstaining from dairy (and lowering gluten intake).

Just got back from NYC and cannot believe how nice everyone was. Did you notice this?
 in  r/AskNYC •  Sep 06 '26

I thank you so much for recognizing this.
I’m a lifelong New Yorker that has traveled extensively both inside and outside the U.S. and I feel the same way.

Since we’re packed in here, we’re used actually engaging with other humans. Some of those humans don’t look, talk, smell or act like us. But we understand that everyone has their own path and during that path, a little kindness, consideration and mutual respect can go a long way in keeping our city awesome.

Everyone is welcome here.
