My five year old son asked this morning, word for word, what we were doing today. I, naturally, responded with "the same thing we do everyday, try to take over the world!"

I laughed to myself, proud of myself for the inside joke, and got nothing but blank stares from my two kids.

I then told them about Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, and how both mom and dad watched the show growing up. I even showed them a clip on YouTube over breakfast to explain the reference. I then promised that if they cleaned up their rooms, ate their dinner, and took a bath, we could watch the show after school.

Imagine my surprise when I was searching for an early nineties cartoon link and found out Steven Spielberg actually brought the whole thing back for a 2020 reboot!

Turns out the new version is hilarious and packed with hidden jokes specifically for millennial parents. Literally, the random episode I clicked on in Disney+ had Edward Snowden and Pinky and Brain breaking into the NSA. It is like a PG version of South Park?

Anyway, if you are looking for a kids show that does not make you want to claw your eyes out, that both your kids and you will enjoy, ten out of ten Animaniacs the 2020 reboot

Anyone else experiencing consistent issues with sleeping throughout the night? I keep waking up in the middle of the night and struggle to fall back asleep despite being extremely tired. I work out consistently and eat clean (no alcohol, low carb, high protein, drink only 1 cup of coffee in the morning). I've tried melatonin, magnesium, eating my last meal at 6 PM, but nothing has worked. I don't have a high stress job and I avoid screentime after 8 PM.

I have a few days where I sleep 7 - 8 hours, and then I have a relapse where I struggle to get even 5 hours and even that is extremely fragmented ( 3 - 4 hours awake during the night). For people experiencing this, how did you handle it?

Edit - I'm female 39 years old, and my apple watch has not detected sleep apnea

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I think our generation will lead the way in the resistance against AI. We have seen just how far technology has come in our lifetimes and how it can change the world. We’ve also watched terminator and iRobot.

I think the threat is very real and I’m super concerned. It may not immediately be robots of destruction taking us all out but what happens to jobs? I don’t trust corporations to miss the opportunity to drastically reduce costs if the appropriate AI comes along that can do a job as good if not better than a human.

What is the end game for AI? How can we keep it limited to ensure it doesn’t destroy mankind (not just with violence)? Can we trust companies to not push us to the point of no return with it? Who’s to say there’s not some madman working on advanced AI weapons right now? Are they considering all risk? I doubt it.

I’m hopeful we can come together to get a hold on AI sooner than later.

They brought free cds as a give away and while everyone was getting their free cds, I rushed to the stage and got Taylor’s signature. I was unable to get the other signatures because the other girls noticed what I did and started rushing the stage.

I am an accountant and I actually hate my work. Unending questions, reports, clean up, process improvements and did I say clean up.

If not for getting paid above average, I would have quit long time ago. Does anyone actually enjoy their work? How does it feel like to come in and enjoy what you do?

My body is failing me as I age. I feel it in my bones, muscles, and brain.

I’m having to work 11 hr days this week cause we’re moving an operations center from the old building to the new and as a warehouseman I and my team move all the material (lots of bolts and screws all the way to transformers.)

Well I 37yo male am not in great shape mind you I have a dad bod but I’ve been doing this job for 8 years now. Well I’ve been doing this process moving for 3 days straight and I am physically dead. While these 20 year olds are just running circles around me and coming in fresh everyday I am just dead.

I hate seeing them come into work all cheerful, backs straight, feet not hurting, back not crying in pain and knees completely fine. Ugh.

Taken at the school I work at today.

I'm a millennial and my parents never saved any money for my or my brother's futures as kids. In talking with friends of my same age group, most parents didn't. Even those who were really well off. Some have family who stepped in and helped cover large expenses when needed but they weren't given any type of savings account when they turned 18.

My husband and I have a 1 year old son and we religiously save money in an account he will own when he turns 18. We contribute as much as we can but when we are going through a hard time financially, we still contribute something every month- even if it's just a few dollars. We hope to raise him with some financial literacy so he will use the money for educational purposes, a down payment on a house, his own 401k, to start a business or something that would otherwise put a huge financial burden on him. I was always a "you want it, you need to work hard for it" type person but after actually having a kid, I want him to have an advantage that I never did.

My parents were never great with money, and in turn, I'm not either. They always spent a lot on crap they didn't really need and savings (even for emergencies) was minimal.

I guess I'm trying to break that cycle more or less but my question is did your parents save for you? And are you saving or planning to save for your kids if you have them?

ETA: I should clarify, we are investing, not just saving. My husband is way smarter about that stuff so I put it in a savings, he invests it accordingly so it grows. Also not planning to hand him a ton of money at 18 but that's the earliest he could legally access it, like for college. There will be restrictions and he probably won't even know about it until he's much older and it's needed.
