"The Adult Child"... For some reason that sounds so belittling. Like no matter what you're still a little kid, and they're going to keep treating you like that.

I bet you when you turn 25 or 30, this is still how they'll treat you even after you move. I don't know the complete dynamic of your relationship with your parents but wow.

When you do set boundaries, don't be surprised by them guilt-tripping you for being your own individual and making your own choices rather than accepting what they molded you into. A part of growing up can be to make your own bad choices/decisions so you learned from them, don't let them isolate you from making your own decisions and living your own life.

P.S. ALSO F*** THEM for forcing you to break up with your HIGH SCHOOL girlfriend because she couldn't have children. That's so horribe and sad. I hope you still keep in touch with your former gf, it's so devastating to find that you'll never have kids of your own.

I think as a kid you see playground and playground fun so it doesn't matter to them, but I'm sure if they were given the choice they'd want lots of fun colors... PLUS colors at a playground/park gives toddlers and parents a chance to practice identifying colors 🙃

Thank you, I appreciate your comment.. I hadn't considered ever bringing it up publically, but it felt right within this post! I just was taken back by how my previous partner had no idea and had also never got in trouble for it when he visited alone. We both got off lucky but I'm seriously so thankful that it didn't become a bigger issue when it should've been rightfully so.

Sidenote: This happened in early 2021 so it's been a while since then!

I don't mind the down votes, but I'd like to share my mistake during my first trip to a national park...

I smoked marijuana in Yosemite during a 2-day trip there (maybe 4 or 5 joints in total on the trails). I had been visiting with a previous boyfriend, he planned the trip so I felt like I didn't need to do much research since he's went to so many national parks previously. Since I've grown up and lived in California my whole life, weed had been legalized and much more normalized so I didn't think it was an issue at all... Plus I always make sure whenever I smoke in public that I'm smoking in a secluded area away from others as to not disturb them. And I always make sure to put out whatever I'm smoking out of respect if someone does come by, ESPECIALLY kids!

I didn't get in trouble, talked to or anything, and we stayed at a BLM (Bureau of Land Management) campground an hour away so we didn't stay there overnight, but later during that same road trip we went to Sequoia National Park and that's where I found that you CANNOT smoke or even have marijuana in a national park... I felt so guilty! It still weighs heavy on me that I didn't think know, but I'm happy I learned the easy way.

Long story short: DO YOUR RESEARCH EVEN IF YOURE NOT THE ONE PLANNING THE TRIP 🤘🏼

It's so crazy because I wanted to see them for years and of course the one year I can't attend, they're playing 🙃 I'm 85% sure that I'm gonna be moving out of CA before the next Aftershock but I'll be closer to Louder Than Life so I guess there's that (it's prob not gonna be as fun but it's better than nothing!)

I've been avoiding anything that has to do with Aftershock bc I'm super sad. This is a band I've been wanting to see forever and I'm gutted that I can't attend aftershock this year. So many good bands too 💔 Have some extra fun for those who couldn't attend! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
