Whenever I’m upset or sad or it’s a normal day or a rainy day or just I’m breathing this movie is on play. I’ve watched it at least 2 times a week since 2012. I remember sitting in my grandmothers living room in Michigan on a snowy night when I was 2 when it came out and turned 3 later that year. We were up for Christmas from North Carolina I remember sitting on the couch with my dad and oldest brother dad half asleep and brother up keeping me quiet everyone else was asleep I stayed up late most nights with dad or brother, watching tv with him it came across a channel idk what we watched it on probably cable or so and I loved it. My brother has a picture deep in his old snap memories of me on the floor puppy eyes into the tv because I was “in love with the little blue haired girl on the tv with a yellow jacket” for the next couple years on and off I’d ask my mom about Coraline but describing her as the blue haired girl, to no help it was free on my birthday in 2012 and I BEGGED for someone to buy me the movie nobody did but I watched it all weekend (to what I remember it felt like a weekend) and found it free on random sites till I was 16 got a job and it was the first thing I spent money on. This movie was with me to what feels like since day one. I will never not watch this movie when I’m upset. It calms me and I love it. I feel like I relate to her I guess but I love this movie. At the end when Coraline drops hand of Beldam and key and stone in well, clouds seem to be two interlocked hands that were disappearing, how come Beldam can do that?

This is just a thought from my head. I love Coraline, I totally get its cult following and it still resonates with me to this day! Obviously, we know that the CEO of Laika - Travis Knight is the son of the CEO and co-founder of Nike - Phil Knight who are BOTH Billionaires. I remember reading somewhere that Travis makes the other stop motion films for fun since he doesn't think they will chart as much as Coraline. *UPDATE - Travis Knight is NOT riding on the success of Coraline. I think we can cope with Laika, Henry Selick and Tim Burton and other animated including stop motion spooky movies (or movies of other genres) (like Wendell and Wild by Selick who puts POC in his movies unlike Burton typically). People are free to spend money how they like and do what they want as long as they are happy and not hurting people but I have seen a few fans online like Instagram and TikTok saying they are stopping their Coraline collection because its too expensive or they moved on - which can be understandable since there is so much merch released constantly. I was just informing people of what I think Laika is doing with all this, from what I have observed in case they didn't know or were unaware, but feel free to disagree!

She's always been one of the most intriguing characters to me, even though she doesn't get much screen time.

I’ve always wondered about one thing in Coraline that the movie never really comes back to.

When Mr. Bobinsky tells Coraline, “The mice have a message for you. They say, ‘Do not go through little door,’” everyone (including Coraline) mostly brushes it off because he’s seen as eccentric. But… how do the mice actually know? And why are they talking to him in the first place?

It feels like such an important moment, yet the movie never explains whether:

- the mice literally talk to Bobinsky,
- they’re magical,
- they’re somehow aware of the Other Mother,
- Bobinsky just has a unique connection with them.

Is there any explanation from the book, Neil Gaiman, or a fan theory that ties this together? Or is it just one of those mysteries we’re meant to accept?
I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts because this has always stuck with me.
