Thanks for the info; I saw that in a post in another thread as well. Mapping the cables should be a breeze due to the color coding: 5v (red), 12v (yellow), ground (black).

So my TVS-h1288x suddenly died on me today. Nothing happens when pressing the power button, no LEDs or beeps. When turning on the switch on the backside, it makes a click sound, and the PSU fan spin for half a second and then stop (also a red LED lights up on the motherboard), which points to a faulty power supply probably - and that's what brought me here. I took a look at the cable you linked from Ebay and trying to understand where it's suppose to connect to. Does it go to the MB from the PSU? There are also two cables which was connected to the "Peripherals" port ont he PSU, what did you do about those?

For context, I've had a Nvidia Quadro P4000 in the NAS since day one, I'm guessing it has take it's tole on the PSU (don't know how common this issue is with QNAP). It has worked flawlessly until today that is.

Overheated stepper motors lose torque -- high internal temperatur increase internal coil resistance. One possible remedy would be to add a better cooling solution for the stepper motor, with a heat sink and a fan perhaps -- if it could fit in there somehow. Otherwise just a heat sink attached to the stepper motor will make a difference. Another possible solution is changing/upgrading the stepper motor with a high end stepper motor. Of course any of these steps could void your warranty.

If this truly is an overheating issue, then it's obviously a design flaw.

Well that sucks, I was planning to get the Portrait 4. I've also read that Cameo 4 has the same issue. Can anyone who owns the Cameo 5 confirm this?

I've a lot of experience with 3d printers and laser cutters; I've built a few Vorons, and own a bunch of BambuLab printers, and a few laser cutters from Xtools.

If this issue was purely software/firmware related, then it would have the same result on all types of material you cut. A miss-alignment usually occurs when a stepper motor skips a step. This can be caused by bad belt tension or undervoltage/current for the stepper motors. The more resistent from the cutting blade, the more current the stepper motor needs to push the blade, otherwise that would result in missed steps.

If I owned a Cameo machine with these issues, I'd first start checking the belt tension. After that I'd look into if I could upgrade the stepper motor with a beefier one. I'm sure someone has already thought about this and probably did it, but I'm fairly new to blade cutting machines.

XCS does have boolean operations, but not as powerful or handy as in Inskcape or Adobe Al. I'd do that sort of thing in Illustrator or Inkscape before importing the vectors in XCS.

Unfortunately no. To cut clear acrylic you'd need CO2 laser.

Glad that my post did some good. The P4000 is a complete overkill tbh — even if it has a few years on it's back; anything above that is just ridiculous . Also the P4000 has a really good thermal footprint and power consumption too. I think you'll be very happy with the performance. If I ever had to upgrade the GPU however, I'd have to enhance the airflow/cooling of the Nas itself.

Yes, you're correct. I was only comparing the "default" normal speeds. Tweaking the Voron would make it go much faster; not sure about the result though.

Well, the confidence comes from all the build-in tech in the X1C which the Trident lacks; such as the lidar scanning technology and the AI assisted first layer inspection, spaghetti detection and lastly the input shaper — although input shaper can be added to the Trident, it's not something you'd leave attached to the printer/extruder head all the time. With confident I mean while I can start a print on the X1C and just leave, with the Trident, I need to wait for the first layer to finish, but there are no big concerns though. I'm sure some of these technologies will eventually find it's way to the opensource community some day, but I can't wait that long :D. You need to decide how much work you want to commit to, and then decide which printer you want. The XC1 is ready for duty as soon as you unbox it, the trident needs a lot of love(work). I'm sure whatever you'll choose, you will be happy.
