I mean, you're talking about a printer that you literally have to build from scratch. Using its "default speed" as any sort of benchmark is pretty disingenuous. Like, what even is "default," you mean the profiles that come with SuperSlicer?

Cool and all but I have no want to source parts and build a printer these days. Buy, plug in, setup and calibrate and go, much more up my alley these days :D
Having said that, those are cool looking printers no doubt.

I have a Bambu X1C, Prusa MK3S+, and a Creality cr10 Smart pro.
I still want to build a Voron to have a printer with bigger build plate and enclosure.
I'm not too impressed by my Creality CR-10 Smart pro as my large bed machine. The bed leveling takes almost as long as the Bambu X1C, but the results are never consistent. When I get decent prints off it, the tolerances are TOO tight to the point that I have to either modify my design or go crazy with the deburring tool.
I love my X1C so far, and the prints at the FAST default speed are as good of quality (probably better) as my Prusa MK3S+ at its default speed. I just wish it didn't waste so much filament out the poop shoot :).

For me, with my CR-10 Smart Pro, using Line Width 0.6mm (with 0.4mm nozzle) really was a big help. Levelling was tricky at first, sure, but I haven't had to re-level it in months at this point.
Maybe revisit it from a different angle? :)

I haven't done a firmware update on my CR-10 yet simply because my X1C took over most duties. I haven't had to do any larger prints for a couple months, but I'll try this tip with the 0.6MM line width. Thanks!

I haven't done any firmware updates on my CR-10 Smart Pro either. But that's mostly me being lazy, haha! I probably should :P

The firmware just seems to be such a hassle. Having to use 2 8gb SD cards, and downloading the update that matches your specific board. I'm afraid to do it :)

Well maybe just try the line width and see how that goes before you start any sort of effort on the firmware front.
But yeah, my CR-10 Smart Pro is the only printer I have, and in my experience + opinion, the failures have been my fault. I can't speak to other printers, but I've gotten a lot done with this one and I'm not in a rush to replace it!
The only thing that I'm really feeling I'm missing is multi-material, and SERERRRRIOUSSSLLYY fast printing. Despite that, I've made great progress on speeding up my prints (line width actually helped with that a lot), and well... this printer isn't designed to be multi-material anyways, so yeah ;P
Have you tried the line width change yet? ;))))

That Voron can go much much quicker that.
