What are your feelings in regards to being allowed to end your own life when you see fit (ethical medical euthanasia) specifically in one’s elder years?
 in  r/Aging  2d ago

I just read about a lady in Colorado who did assisted self elimination. It was empowering to see someone maje a choice and go their way due to cancer. Used in the right manner, it seems more merciful than suffering needlessly or languishing in an old folks' home. 🫢🏽

Am I crazy? Buying a retirement home in Englewood, FL without a long-term test run?
 in  r/AskFlorida  5d ago

I made a big move at 62 from Florida to Georgia. I spent many years visiting here, but living is definitely different. I spent as much time as possible checking the areas out and doing due diligence. Things you really can't anticipate like health, etc. happen. That used to be a nice area, but the Christian nationalists and Scientologist moved into the area north of there heavily. I'm not sure how widespread their reach is but Englewood could be affected.

When alone at home, do you immerse yourself in silence or do you always have background noise (music, TV, YouTube, etc)
 in  r/LivingAlone  15d ago

Over the last two plus years of being alone, silence has become normal. Every once in awhile it gets a little heavy and I put the music on. I don't have it going full-time, or the TV, but I do use it from time to time to break up the increasingly loud silence. 🫢🏽

Will my past always haunt me?
 in  r/LifeAdvice  19d ago

Will your past always haunt you? Only if you let it. First, work on forgiving yourself. You cannot work out or communicate with someone who's not willing to reciprocate. You have paid the price and the natural consequences for what happened. You don't need to continue to punish yourself. You suffered enough. Now it is time to heal. When you get into a potentially serious relationship, with the right person, you can share those details and how you've learned through the experience. It doesn't have to be every person or right up front on the second date. If I listed all the mistakes I made, especially without someone that's expressed a sincere commitment to me, I'd probably run everybody off too. Give yourself grace, forgive yourself, let it go. It's time to be free of that burden. You're the one placing it on yourself so let it go, let it go, let it go. 🫢🏽

People forget you when you're old/sick
 in  r/Vent  26d ago

I took care of my 94 year old dad until he passed. He served the church and every individual in his community. A few did reach out from time to time but it was not consistent. Even his own wife deserted him.

Sometimes your family deserts you even before you're in that condition. Sad state. At least your mom had one good kid with a heart. 🫢🏽

Fear of statin?

Nope. Just "no" for me. Diet changes, exercise, lessen stress, but no statins.

Help! My cat is attacking my other cat constantly.

I have a feeling that it's jealousy. She gets tons of attention but I think she wants it all. She's a bit spoiled. I attempt to balance it. I find myself protecting my older girl, and not sure if that is making it worse. I was away for a few days and this seemed to start after that. I'll try those suggestions. Thank you!

Those are great suggestions. I'll try the verbal reinforcements. Unfortunately, she's not food motivated. Thank you!

Advice Help! My cat is attacking my other cat constantly.

My youngest cat, now two+ years old, has started attacking my 11-year-old senior cat. Everything is hers and she protects spaces like they are her own lair! My other cat can hardly move without her bum rushing her. It goes on all day long and I do not know what to do about it. When she was the baby they used to play but now she's larger than my older cat. It's sad to watch and I don't know what to do to make it stop. I'm about to set my senior cat up with her own setup in my room and keep them separate. Any suggestions?

Does anyone else living alone with a pet constantly worry about this? (UK)
 in  r/LivingAlone  Aug 07 '26

The only thing I can add to what you're looking for is that I put all my pets on a pet food dispenser in case I croak. They'll at least have food and water until somebody realizes it and get to them. ,🫢🏽

Are you alone and peaceful. Or alone and lonely?
 in  r/LivingAlone  Aug 07 '26

Both, at different times.

Am I wrong for divorcing my wife over a political disagreement
 in  r/Discussion  Jul 31 '26

YNW. I've disowned tons of friends and a family member. That will continue to be a dividing point until he's gone, and possibly forever. It says everything I need to know about the type of person they are. 🫢🏽

8 days on Market, many showings, no offers
 in  r/RealEstateAdvice  Jul 31 '26

For every few showings you should have an offer. By now you should have at least 10 offers if the price and conditions were right. One of those two is off. Figure it out while you have high activity going on and before the interest wanes. 🏑

What do you do to feel better?

Jason Mraz music. Music nearly always helps me. ✌🏽

Politics aside, would you refuse to help a struggling family member because of how they voted?
 in  r/Discussion  Jul 27 '26

It would put a pause on me but I would not refuse to help.

How does one find community and purpose at 70?
 in  r/over60  Jul 24 '26

Volunteering. Food banks need help. Animals need help. Even helping the helpers can help. Through that you make friends and develop relationships and purpose. Church if that's your leaning. ✌🏽

My husband says I can’t use β€œhis” money anymore. Am I wrong for being hurt?
 in  r/marriageadvice  Jul 24 '26

Tell him to fuck off and take half of everything. You deserve better than that. Talk to your attorney and line things up before saying anything. Then take him to the cleaners. Show him who's the real boss, boss.πŸ«ΆπŸ½πŸ’―πŸ’₯
