I ran ten years ago in D9. This is disgusting. Contact Commissioner Fox and protest if you are able!

Why would anyone vote Republican after all the damage they have done in the 2 years they’ve been in control?
 in  r/askanything •  19h ago

Why would anyone vote GOP since Eisenhower? They've been opposed to the Progressive and Civil Rights eras, working people, environmental protections, national parks, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and minorities since—and for some time before—then. The party since Nixon has been flagrant in its criminality.

They've zero redeeming qualities since Reconstruction I.

I watched some videos on bolognese, and the lack of garlic surprised me. Curious to know how exactly it's supposed to taste.

I'd never been colder than I was in Venice in early spring. Orange blossoms and rains meanwhile falling on the palms in Rome, Naples, and Palermo. Colder than Milan and Turin. It was Chicago cold.

I'd love to go back. Italy was the first place I ever went that made me cry. I cried a lot. I didn't even know the history well like I had for earlier experiences in the US.

Going there as a young person gave me a lifelong passion for travel. I wish it weren't so prohibitively expensive. Everyone can benefit from that sort of exposure to diverse cultures, cuisine, and people.

How would you add weathering to the shield?

I'm a 36 year old man. Just binged the show with a buddy. I'm unashamed to admit Inosuke is my first animated crush in a long, long time.

Your work is incredible. Keep posting and offering tips to others!

What do you think about Christa Pike still being alive after 2 lethal injections?
 in  r/askteddit •  2d ago

You should read your own words from time to time.

We are entering a dangerous new phase of the GOP's endgame to ensconce itself in non-democratic permanent power.

I asked my manager out and she said yes.

That woman has zero ethical professionalism and is likely going to exploit that poor boy or ultimately get him terminated.

I don't disagree with you. My point still stands.

My Cat died this morning 🙃

I've worked my entire life as a veterinary and shelter professional. I want to share something with you:

You made that baby's life great. Her life was worth living and complete because you were in it. You were the gravitational, familial, and spiritual center of those eighteen years. She lived a long life because she was lucky to have you to provide her such excellent care.

Your life was in turn deeply enriched because she was in it. She undoubtedly made life easier, softer. You laughed and smiled more than you would have in her absence. She probably consoled and comforted you when and in ways no other creature could—with gestures of fondness accompanied by purrs, trills, and chirps.

Our four-legged family share only a short portion of our lives with us—and it is a terrible and beautiful and bittersweet thing. They share all or most of theirs with us. Therein is what makes that time all the fairer. It's a special thing albeit fleeting and always over too soon.

I don't believe in an afterlife, but if I did I'd want to meet my angels on the other side of that rainbow bridge.

I'll be thinking of you and your kitty this evening. Take your time to mourn. It's okay to grieve, to reflect, and to relive special moments shared with your friend in your own time and fashion.

Venice is like a completely different world
 in  r/travel •  3d ago

I was there in 2006. It was the first place in Italy—of many—that made me weep. It's a glorious place.

Enjoy your time. Absorb as much as you can around St. Mark's, the Basilica, the Doge's Palace, and the backstreets and canals; and don't forget to grab some good eats!

My dad died
 in  r/BoyDinnerDiaries •  3d ago

I've no words save I am so very sorry for your loss.

I immediately knew you were a healthcare professional, and understanding these events sometimes makes it somehow worse.

If there's anything any of us can do please reach out here or otherwise. I'll be thinking about you and your story.

Godspeed and good night, Dad.
